  • In the trend of continuously increasing collection and use of personal information, there are legal grounds for protecting personal information and various policies and systems are implemented, but there is insufficient analysis about education and its effect of personal information protection. In this study, we surveyed and analyzed the degree of awareness and actual perception level in the protection of personal information of college students, and investigated the satisfaction of personal information protection education. The results of the analysis showed that students' interest in privacy protection and concern about personal information exposure was very high, but the efforts to protect personal information and the perception level of rights and systems for protecting personal information was very low. In addition, the experience and satisfaction of education for personal information protection were found to be very low. Students felt that the necessity of education for personal information protection was strongly agreed and preferred regular and continuous education rather than one-time education.

Academic institutions have established information literacy programmes to enhance students' access to information. With the elevation of colleges of education to tertiary status in Ghana, pre-service teachers are now required to conduct research to improve their reflective thinking in order to be certified. However, the information access skills of students in colleges of education in Ghana are uncertain. This study draws empirical evidence from students in the Nusrat Jahan Ahmadiyya College of Education, Wa, Ghana on their information access skills. Primary data were collected from 303 respondents from the college using a stratified sampling procedure. The data were collected using a questionnaire and analysed using descriptive statistics. The results indicate that information is available to students through different sources such as the Internet, libraries, and contact with friends and authorities. However, students were limited in respect to access to relevant online resources for their academic activities due to inadequate information access skills. Potential solutions are discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to discuss information literacy in mathematics education by comparatively analyzing mathematics education experts' perception of information processing and information literacy in mathematics education. We collected mathematics education experts' opinions using the modified Delphi method and focus group interviews, then analyzed their responses with an analytic framework through a constant comparative method. Even though we used different methods, we could compare their perceptions under the common themes. The findings are in three-folds. First, most experts focused only on the use of technological tools or statistics as a way of developing information literacy. In addition, even though mathematics education experts recognize the need for information literacy in mathematics education, their definition and meaning of information literacy somehow varied. Secondly, teachers as practitioners emphasized social competency which could be developed through information literacy. Thirdly, they asked for concrete and systematic plans for school practice in order to well develop information literacy in schools. Even though there were some differences in their perception of information literacy in mathematics education in terms of their prior experiences and background, it is very meaningful that there were commonalities among their perceptions which would allow us to find the ways of developing information literacy in mathematics education.

  • This study examines the purpose and goals of ICT education, compares them with current software and artificial intelligence-oriented information curriculum, analyzes foreign SW curriculum, extracts learning topics and elements, and analyzes whether the current information curriculum is presented effectively. As a result of the analysis, the number of information-related courses in Korea is currently lower than in other countries, which has reduced the number of basic computer applications and underlying software applications such as presentations and spreadsheets covered in ICT training in the past. In addition, compared to Korea's curriculum where information education begins in the fifth grade of elementary school, other countries are introducing information education from the first grade to the third grade of elementary school. Therefore, active discussions on the expansion of the number of information education, the timing of introduction of information education, and the utilization of basic computers are needed.
