  • This paper presents Fuzzy-Neuro PI controller of IPMSM drive using fuzzy and neural-network. In general, PI controller in computer numerically controlled machine process fixed gain. To increase the robustness, fixed gain PI controller, Fuzzy-Neuro PI controller proposes a new method based fuzzy and neural-network. Fuzzy-Neuro PI controller is developed to minimize overshoot and settling time following sudden parameter changes such as speed, load torque, inertia, rotor resistance and self inductance. The results on a speed controller of IPMSM are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed gain tuner.

  • In this paper a FET mixer is designed realized by small-signal S-parameter using microwave CAD, LINMIC + at Ku-band. The mixer has conversion gain 9.88dB at 14GHz RF, 1GHz IF, and + 1dBm LO imput. The maximum conversion gain is obtained 11.71dB at 1.1GHz. The result shows that the FET mixer does not need pre-and/or IF amplifier. The mixer maintains the desired conversion gain with low LO power level. The conversion gain of the mixer is higher than the available gain of a amplifier, which is experimentally verified.

  • The steam generator level in a PWR is very difficult to control particularly at low power. And the constant control gain and time value are not adaptive in steam generator level controller. In normal operation constant control gain and time value have no problem. But there is problem at low power. So variable control gains based on the temperature are required. The best control gain is decided by the experienced knowledge. A fuzzy gain tuner is used for the gain tuning. In the design of fuzzy gain-tuner processing, the experienced knowledge is employed for making fuzzy rules.

  • The gain-clamped EDFA has been developed to eliminate the output power change of WDM surviving channels to occur with added or dropped channels, which degrades the performance of WDM optical network. It maintains the constant gain of surviving channels when WDM channels are added or dropped in a network amplifying node. In this paper, the hi-directionally pumped gain-clamped EDFA is implemented to compensate the change of the input power by a lasing. The results show that the lasing of a short wavelength and backward propagation is the optimal condition to minimize the transient response of surviving channels in terms of the overshoot and gain saturation due to the inhomogeneous broadening effect.

  • The increased use of computers has introduced a variety kind of human-computer interfaces. Mouse is one of the useful interface tools to place the cursor on the desired position on the monitor. This paper suggested a foot controlled isotonic mouse which was similar to the ordinary hand-controlled mouse except that positioning was controlled by the right foot and the clicking was performed by the left foot. Experimental results showed that both the index of difficulty(IOD) and the display-control gain(DC gain) varied the total movement time in a target acquisition task on the monitor. The present authors also drew the optimal display-control gain of the foot-controlled isotonic mouse over the index of difficulty of 1.0 to 3.0. The optimal display-control gain, i. e., 0.256, could be used when designing a foot-controlled isotonic mouse.

  • An ATM/AAL2 is standardized to transmit delay sensitive application services, which has small size packet, efficiently. An AAL2 transmission scheme is used to deliver voice and data traffic on the lob interface between base station (Node-B) and Radio Network Controller (RNC) in UMTS network. To predict AAL2 performance, a detailed end-to-end UMTS network performance simulator was developed. We performed detailed simulation(cell packing density and bandwidth gain) for voice and data services in UTRAN. The results indicate that the maximum bandwidth gain in Node-B is about 17% and the bandwidth gain of AAL2 multiplexing in $I_{ub}$ for data services is less than that for voice service. Futhermore, the more offered load increase the more the bandwidth gain decreases in a concentrator.

  • In this paper, we derive the gain of network coding when it is utilized for retransmission in wireless networks. To the end, we derive the outage probability of the network-coded transmission and express the diversity order as a function of the number of nodes and the node's listening probability. From the outage probability, we formulate the ${\epsilon}$-outage capacity. The network-coding gain is the ratio of the ${\epsilon}$-outage capacities between network-coded and non-coded transmissions. Under our system model, we find that the network-coding gain is a function of the diversity order. Moreover, when there are infinitely many nodes, we show that the network coding gain approaches $0.25{\epsilon}^{-1}$.

  • In this paper, we present the effect of forward current gain on emitter area in NPN transistors are used widely in the almost linear integrated circuits and integrated injection logic. Relations between forward current gain and emitter area were conformed with the simulation with examined calculation and experiments. At the same emitter length, as junction depth is increased, common emitter current gain is decreased. Ratio of Emitter bottom area comparing to side area increases, the emitter current gain is increased. The theory and simulation results were fitted in with the experimental data very well.

  • A high-gain wideband low noise amplifier (LNA) using $0.25-{\mu}m$ Gallium-Nitride (GaN) MMIC technology is presented. The LNA shows 8 GHz to 15 GHz operation by a distributed amplifier architecture and high gain with an additional common source amplifier as a mid-stage. The measurement results show a flat gain of $25.1{\pm}0.8dB$ and input and output matching of -12 dB for all targeted frequencies. The measured minimum noise figure is 2.8 dB at 12.6 GHz and below 3.6 dB across all frequencies. It consumes 98 mA with a 10-V supply. By adjusting the gate voltage of the mid-stage common source amplifier, the overall gain is controlled stably from 13 dB to 24 dB with no significant variations of the input and output matching.

  • All-optical fiber-type gain flattening filer (GFF) for an EDFA (Erbium doped fiber amplifier) were fabricated by using a FBT (fiber biconical tapered) process and the performance of the GFF was tested and athermal package was proposed. Historically, the chief contributor to gain unevenness has been the EDFA. Due to the inherent gain response of the EDFA's operation, there is always a modest imbalance in the gain applied as a function of wavelength. FBT methods have been used to make fiber type couplers and WDM filter since 1980. Attractivity of this methods was simple, cost effective and thermal stability. Simulation program tool is made to design target GFF profile for this paper. Fiber coupler manufacturing machine is modified for the GFF process. The final GFF is obtained by cascading 4 unit filter that has 6 taper stage. Test result shows 1 dB of wavelength flatness in the C band. Polarization dependent loss is under 0.15dB. The center wavelength variation is below ${\pm}$0.35nm at the temperature range of $20^{\circ}C$ to $70^{\circ}C$.
