The NdBaCuO superconducting samples were prepared by the Zone melting under low oxygen partial pressure. After the zone-melting the oxygenation process of the NdBaCuO samples in a oxygen flow furnace was studied. In order to compare the oxygenation condition the sintering NdBaCuO samples were studied also. In the study it is found that the optimum temperature for the oxygenation is $350^{\circ}C$, and the oxygen flow speed, the sample volume and the surface area of the sample would influence the oxygenation and the oxygen content.

In this paper, the behavior of plastic zone in the notch tip was studied under Loye's Micro Vickers Hardness Measurement Method. The direction forming maximum plastic zone was estimated by finite element analysis. In the experiments, cold rolling sheet SGCD3, SK5 and hot rolling sheet SS41, S4SC was used to study the influence of carbon contents on plastic zone. The standard hardness test specimen and the notch hardness test specimen was made and loaded cyclically. The specimen was aged to stabilize the hardness. After aging treatment, the notch specimen was made and simple tension load of 50% yield strength was applied. The hardness test at the notch tip until the hardness data of standard hardness specimen was checked was performed.

A crack with electrically impermeable surfaces in an electrostrictive material subjected to uniform electric loading is analysed. The effect of electric yielding on stress intensity factor is investigated by using a small scale yielding model and a strip yield zone model. Complete forms of electric fields and elastic fields are derived by using complex function theory. The electrical yield zone shapes for two models are different each other. The two models, however, predict similar yield zone sizes under the small scale yielding conditions. It is found that the influence of electric yielding on the stress intensity factor is insensitive to the modeling of the electrical yield zone shape.
Laboratory scale study for an air injection and flowing aspect of groundwater saturated zone was conducted for three sediment grains (AMG 0.34, 1.38, 3.89 mm diameter). Air flow for AMG (Average Modal diameter Grains) 0.34 mm diameter grain size provides indication of pattern of channelized air flow in saturated zone and expansion state in above saturated zone. Maximum area of influence is approximately l5.2%/$\textrm{m}^2$for AMG of 0.34 mm diameter. For AMG of 1.38 mm and 3.89 mm modal diameter grains, air flow are pervasive air flow, forming a symmetrical cone of influence around the injection point. Maximum areas affected are 37%/$\textrm{m}^2$for AMG 1.38 mm diameter and 30%/$\textrm{m}^2$for AMG 3.89 mm diameter. AMG 1.38 mm and 3.89 mm diameter grains show onset of collapse and approach to steady state in above saturated zone, respectively. In this study, optimal sites for in situ air sparging, may be grain diameters between about AMG 1.5-2.5 mm diameter.
Combustion experiments were conducted at three different fuels ($CH_4$, $C_2H_4$ and $C_3H_8$) to investigate the effects of combustor pressure (30 ~ -30 kPa) on combustion charateristics and reaction zone structure. Regardless of the fuels, emission index of CO (EICO) increased with decreasing combustor pressure, and EICO of $C_2H_4$ was mostly affected by changing combustor pressure at subatmospheric pressure. In order to observe reaction zone, $OH^*$, $CH^*$ and ${C_2}^*$ chemiluminescence intensity were measured. The sequence of the chemiluminescence intensity peak position was affected by chemical characteristics of fuels rather than changing combustor pressure. The emission zone thickness of $C_2H_4$ and $C_3H_8$, defined by the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of $CH^*$ intensity profile, were increased with decreasing combustor pressure. however, the thickness of $C_2H_4$ exhibited the opposite tendency due to the characteristics of the fuel as the bond structure.

Accurate heat release analysis of cylinder pressure data is important for evaluating performance in the development of diesel engine However, traditional single zone first law heat release model(SZM) has significant limitations due to the simplified assumption of uniform charge and neglecting local temperature inside cylinder during combustion process. In this study. heat release rate based on single zone heat release model has been evaluated by comparison with computational analysis results using Fire code which is based on multi-dimensional model(MDM). To overcome limitations due to simplicity of single zone assumption. especially the influence of specific heat ratio on gross heat release has been esteemed and newly suggested were the equation $\gamma$= $\gamma$(${T/T}_{max}$) which describes the variations of gases thermodynamic properties with mean temperature and maximum mean temperature inside cylinder Single zone heat release model applied with this equation is shown to give very good results over whole range of operating conditions when compared with computational analysis results based on multi-dimensional model.
To improve the design equation for the evaluation of the bursting force in the post-tensioned anchorage zone, this paper presents the analyses and design of the post-tensioned (PT) anchorage zone on the basis of three dimensional (3D) finite element (FE) analyses. The structural behavior was investigated through linear elastic finite element analyses upon consideration of the change in design parameters such as the bearing plate size, the eccentricity, and the tendon inclination. Moreover, consideration of the duct hole, which causes an increase of the bursting stress with a change in its distribution along the anchorage zone as well, is emphasized. Since that an exact prediction of the bursting force is the primary interest in design practice, additional parametric analyses are carried out to evaluate the relative contribution of all design parameters in determining the bursting force, and a comparison with the design guidelines mentioned in AASHTO-LRFD has been provided. Finally, an improved design guideline that takes into account the influence by the duct hole is suggested.

This paper presents the results of laboratory investigation performed to study the role of different air sparging system parameters on the removal of benzene from saturated soils and groundwater. A series of one-dimensional experiments was conducted with predetermined contaminant concentrations and predetermined injected airflow rates and pressures to investigate the effect of soil type and the use of pulsed air injection on air sparging removal efficiency. On the basis of these studies, two-dimensional air sparging remediation systems were investigated to determine the effect of soil heterogeneity on the removal of benzene from three different homogeneous and heterogeneous soil profiles. This study demonstrated that the grain size of the soils affects the air sparging removal efficiency. Additionally, it was observed that pulsed air injection did not offer any appreciable enhancement to contaminant removal for the coarse sand; however, substantial reduction in system operating time was observed for fine sand. The 2-D experiments showed that air injected in coarse sand profiles traveled in channels within a parabolic zone. In well-graded sand the zone of influence was found to be wider due to high permeability and increased tortuosity of this soil type. The influence zone of heterogeneous soil (well-graded sand between coarse sand) showed the hybrid airflow patterns of the individual soil test. Overall, the mechanism of contaminant removal using air sparging from different soil conditions have been determined and discussed.
The influence of the fracture process zone (FPZ) on the fracture properties is one of the hottest topics in the field of fracture mechanics for cementitious materials. Within the FPZ in front of a traction free crack, cohesive forces are distributed in accordance with the softening stress-separation constitutive relation of the material. Therefore, further crack propagation necessitates energy dissipation, which is the work done by the cohesive forces. In this paper $g_f$, the local fracture energy characterizing the energy consumption due to the cohesive forces, is discussed. The computational expression of $g_f$ in the FPZ can be obtained for any stage during the material fracture process regarding the variation of FPZ, whether in terms of its length or width. $G_{fa}$, the average energy consumption along the crack extension region, has also been computed and discussed in this paper. The experimental results obtained from the wedge splitting tests on specimens with different initial notch ratios are employed to investigate the property of the local fracture energy $g_f$ and the average value $G_{fa}$ over the crack extension length. These results can be used to indicate the influence of the FPZ. Additionally, changes in the length of the FPZ during the fracture process are also studied.
This paper aims to study the seismic performance of external diaphragm connection between SST (square steel tube) column and H-shaped beam through experimental and analytical study involving finite element (FE) method and theoretical analysis. In the experimental study, three external diaphragm connection specimens with weak panel zone were tested under axial pressure on the top of the column and antisymmetric cyclic loads at the beam end to investigate the seismic performance of the panel zone. The hysteretic behavior, failure mode, stiffness and ductility of the specimens were discussed. Key point to be explored was the influence of the thickness of the steel tube flange on the shear capacity of the specimens. In the analytical study, three simplified FE models were developed to simulate the seismic behavior of the specimens for further analysis on the influence of steel tube flange. Finally, four existing calculation formulas for the shear capacity of the external diaphragm connection were evaluated through comparisons with the results of experiments and FE analysis, and application suggestions were put forward.
