  • The purpose of this study is to exploratory analyze the transition pattern of establishments and workers in new growth industries in the metropolitan area from 2010 to 2019 and to identify regional factors affecting the inflow and outflow of new growth industry start-ups. As for the analysis, the original data of the Census on Establishments were used, and spatial data at the sigungu level were constructed based on the inflow and outflow data of the number of new growth industry businesses and workers. For the analysis, the degree centrality of connection to outflow inflow by region was calculated, and an empirical analysis was conducted on regional-level factors affecting the inflow and outflow of new growth industries by applying a negative binomial regression model. According to the results, the new growth industry manufacturing sector was actively relocated in southern Gyeonggi Province, and the new growth industry service sector in Gangnam and Guro-Geumcheon-gu, and the impact of regional-level factors on the inflow and outflow of new growth industry start-ups varies depending on the industry. This study presented implications for regional industrial policies to improve the competitiveness of the local economy by attracting new industries by identifying spatial transition patterns for new growth industries and conducting empirical analysis to identify influencing factors.

  • The nitrogen economy and primary production of a Helianthus annuus "Manchurian" population were studied with special reference to the pattern of seasonal changes of vertical distributions of dry matter and nitrogen quantities, and its quantitative significance was discussed in relation to the pattern of the plant population growth, distribution ratios among organs, and turnover rates of dry matter and nitrogen. The population was established in plant density of 11.1plant/$m^2$ at the experimdntal field of Kyungpook National University, Daegu. During the period of population developemnt (April-September, 1973), the annual inflow rates and outflow rates of dry matter and nitrogen were 5560 gDM/$m^2$/year and 89 gN/$m^2$/year, respectively. The distribution ratios of dry matter and nitrogen to leaves were 28% and 45%, to stems 48% and 18%, to roots 13% and 5%, and to flowers and seeds 11% and 32%, respectively. The maximum turnover rates of inflow of dry matter and nitrogen were attained in May-June, and were 216%/month and 210%/month, respectively. The amount of nitrogen demand was 52gN/$m^2$/year (58%) for the foliage growth, 13 gN/$m^2$/year(15%) for the stem growth, 20 gN/$m^2$/year(23%) for the reproductive organs, and 4 gN/$m^2$/year(4%) for the growth of the underground parts. The amount of nitrogen supply by the nitrogen withdrawn from senescing leaves and stems was 25gN/$m^2$/year(28%) and the amount of nitrogen absorption by the root from the environmental soil was 64 gN/$m^2$/year(72%). The ratiio of the a mount of produced dry matter to that of assimilated nitrogen during a year was calculated for this annual plant population as 60, which can be used as the nitrogen utility index.ity index.

  • Masan Bay is a typical enclosed coastal sea and receving body of discharges from Masan city and Changwon city. A POTW(Publicly Owned Treatment Works) started operation from November 1993 when the population of drainage area increased abcent 1.0 million and the effluent from this Plant has being discharged to the enclosed sea where is located at 15km distance from inner Masan Bay. Thus the inflow pattern to Masan Bay has been changed. The main objective of this research is to evaluate the relationship between urban wastewater discharge and water qualify change in a typical coastal zone. It is necessary a) to evaluate the change of input loadings, b) to determine the effect on water quality changes, and c) to find the respective importance of improvement options that must be controlled in the wastewater treatment plant. It was concluded that the sea water quality has being adversely affected by the discharge of insufficiently treated urban wastewater and the nutrient removal in wastewater treatment was very important and urgent.

  • Objectives: The accurate measurement of geographic patterns of health care utilization is a prerequisite for the study of geographic variations in health care utilization. While several measures have been developed to measure how accurately geographic units reflect the health care utilization patterns of residents, they have been only applied to hospitalization and need further evaluation. This study aimed to evaluate geographic indices describing health care utilization. Methods: We measured the utilization rate and four health care utilization indices (localization index, outflow index, inflow index, and net patient flow) for eight major procedures (coronary artery bypass graft surgery, percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty, surgery after hip fracture, knee replacement surgery, caesarean sections, hysterectomy, computed tomography scans, and magnetic resonance imaging scans) according to three levels of geographic units in Korea. Data were obtained from the National Health Insurance database in Korea. We evaluated the associations among the health care utilization indices and the utilization rates. Results: In higher-level geographic units, the localization index tended to be high, while the inflow index and outflow index were lower. The indices showed different patterns depending on the procedure. A strong negative correlation between the localization index and the outflow index was observed for all procedures. Net patient flow showed a moderate positive correlation with the localization index and the inflow index. Conclusions: Health care utilization indices can be used as a proxy to describe the utilization pattern of a procedure in a geographic unit.

  • In the daily multi-reservoir operating problem, monthly storage targets can be used as principal operational guidelines. In this study, we tested the use of a simple back-propagation Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model to derive monthly storage guideline for daily Coordinated Multi-reservoir Operating Model (CoMOM) of the Han-River basin. This approach is based on the belief that the optimum solution of the daily CoMOM has a good performance, and the ANN model trained with the results of daily CoMOM would produce effective monthly operating guidelines. The optimum results of daily CoMOM is used as the training set for the back-propagation ANN model, which is designed to derive monthly reservoir storage targets in the basin. For the input patterns of the ANN model, we adopted the ratios of initial storage of each dam to the storage of Paldang dam, ratios of monthly expected inflow of each dam to the total inflow of the whole basin, ratios of monthly demand at each dam to the total demand of the whole basin, ratio of total storage of the whole basin to the active storage of Paldang dam, and the ratio of total inflow of the whole basin to the active storage of the whole basin. And the output pattern of ANN model is the optimal final storages that are generated by the daily CoMOM. Then, we analyzed the performance of the ANN model by using a real-time simulation procedure for the multi-reservoir system of the Han-river basin, assuming that historical inflows from October 1st, 2004 to June 30th, 2007 (except July, August, September) were occurred. The simulation results showed that by utilizing the monthly storage target provided by the ANN model, we could reduce the spillages, increase hydropower generation, and secure more water at the end of the planning horizon compared to the historical records.

  • To obtain the breakthrough characteristics for the design of fixed bed adsorption plant, adsorption experiment on granular activated carbon was performed with tharonil in the fixed bed. The pore diffusivity and surface diffusivity of tharonil estimated by the concentration-time curve and adsorption isotherm were $D_s=2.825{\times}10^{-9}cm^2/s,\;D_p=1.26{\times}10^{-5}cm^2/s$, respectively. From comparison of the pore diffusivity and surface diffusivity, it was found that surface diffusion was controlling step for intrapaticle diffusion. The breakthrough curve predicted by constant pattern-linear driving force model were shown to agree with the experimental results. The surface diffusivity and film mass transfer coefficient had no effect on the theoretical breakthrough curve but the adsorption isotherm had fairly influence on it. Appearance time of breakthrough curve is faster with the increase flow rate and inflow concentration of liquid. The utility of granular activated carbon is enhanced with the increase of bed height and with the decrease of inflow rate.

  • A simple layer model based on isophcnal coordinate is applied to the East Sea to examine the dynamics of circulation. The results confirm the existing knowledge about role of inflow-outflow and wind in driving the circulation. It is found, however, that the buoyancy flux generates quite different circulation pattern; it enhances the inflow-outflow driven circulation and has a convective nature. The circulation considering all these effects resembles the schematic one presently known. In the circulation, the intermediate layer is outcropped in the north off the northern boundary, ventilated here and flows cyclonically in the northern part of basin. This water, however, does not flow southward directly because of the strong eastward (separating from the coast) current in the layer above. This water also loses its potential vorticity while traveling around the periphery of the outcropping region and is thus characterized by minimum potential vorticity in the interior of the basin.

  • This study investigated the fluid force acting on an artificial reef and the scour pattern at the bottom of the artificial reef in a steady-flow field using the finite difference method (Flow-3D). The structure was tetragonal in shape, like similar objects found in nature. The numerical analysis showed that the hydrodynamic characteristics and incipient scouring pattern matched natural phenomena. The velocity distribution around the tetragon was symmetric and wake occurred inside the tetragon and behind the bottom of the tetragon. The length of the recirculation flow behind the tetragon for each velocity was about 4-5 cm and the magnitude of the recirculation flow inside the tetragon generally increased with the Reynolds' number, although it decreased slightly for Reynolds' numbers from 11,000 to 12,000. In addition, the total fluid force acting on the tetragon increased with the inflow velocity, although the increment was smaller when the velocity exceed 18 cm/sec. The incipient pattern for the scouring of sediment matched the natural phenomenon.

  • The Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society. The Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society. In Korea, the territory has east high west low type and the rainfall is concentrated in the summer season. A nation having these topography and precipitation condition like Korea has to basically needs support of hardware alternatives. However, the right places decrease gradually and the resistance of the public opinion for national water resources policy stiffens gradually. The climate change has an effect in water resources fields and has a close relation. In the present study, therefore, future inflow of Miryang multipurpose dam basin is estimated by using SWAT model applied RCP 4.5 and 8.5 scenarios of "Korea Meteorological Administration" and considering the results, the future direction is purposed to operate the dam. As a result, the rainfall pattern is changed from traditional peak form to flat form. The dam operation rule in accordance with changing precipitation pattern has to be modified from the conventional operation rule and a new plan has to be established to meet a situation.
