Underwater radiated noise is one of the important performances related to stealth of the naval vessel. However, the evaluation can't be performed frequently due to the cost. Therefore, the estimation method of the underwater radiated noise with average hull vibration is suggested in this paper assuming that the hull of the ship is infinite plate which consists of various unit plates. Through the experiment, the estimated noise is verified from the comparison to the measured data. In addition the difference of underwater radiated noise according to the operating equipments is estimated with measured vibration velocity.

In this paper, in order to study the geometric factor effect of a circular hole near a crack tip in a semi-infinite plate, the Dimensionless Stress Intensity Factor, $F(=\frac K {\sigma {\sqrt{\pi a}}})$ is analyzed at the crack tip using a two Dimensional Boundary Element Method (BEM) program which is known as superior in Fracture Mechanics. Kelvin's solution was used as a fundamental solution in BEM analysis and displacement extrapolation method was used to determine Stress Intensity Factor.

Analytical solutions for the transient temperature and quasi-static thermal stresses which arise in thin plates subjected to an instantaneous point source of heat have been investigated. And the solutions have been extended to the case of a moving source of heat with the aid of the Duhamel's superposition integral. For finite disk an experiment was conducted, the measured temperature histories show a good agreement with the theoretical temperature histories, And the histories of thermal stresses show a good qualitative agreement with the physical phenomena. And also we can find out that the maximum temperature and thermal stresses and their location can be estimated by using the solutions for infinite plates instead of the solutions for a finite plate. The solutions can be used for the problems such as a welding or line heating in a hull construction.

The buckling characteristics of cylindrical shells with a circular hole, under axially compressed loads, have been analyzed and the results have been compared with existed experimental results. Deflection function with decay factor is assumed, and stress distribution around a circular hole in tensioned infinite plate is used for formulating buckling energy function. Applying Rayleigh Ritz procedure to this energy function, characteristic equation of eigenvalue problem is determined. Buckling load is defined by the minimum value of eigenvalues calculated according to several decay factors, and as the radius ratios of a circular hole (a/R) and shell thickness ratios (R/t) are varied, the reducing characteristics of buckling load are studied. As a result, buckling loads are reduced by about 50% according to some radius ratios ($a/R{\geq}0.15$) of circular hole and are not nearly affected by shell thickness ratio(R/t).
This paper presents a mathematical model suitable for the calculation of laminated glass, i.e. glass plates combined with an interlayer material. The model is based on a beam differential equation for each glass plate and a separate differential equation for the slip in the interlayer. In addition to slip, the model takes into account prestressing force in the interlayer. It is possible to combine the two contributions arbitrarily, which is important because the glass sheet fabrication process changes the stiffness of the interlayer in ways that are not easily predictable and could introduce prestressing of varying magnitude. The model is suitable for reformulation into an inverse procedure for calculation of the relevant parameters. Model consisting of a system of differential-algebraic equations, proved too stiff for cases with the thin interlayer. This novel approach covers the full range of possible stiffnesses of layered glass sheets, i.e., from zero to infinite stiffness of the interlayer. The comparison of numerical and experimental results contributes to the validation of the model.

A numerical analysis on the freeze coating process of a non-isothermal finite dimensional plate with a binary alloy is performed to investigate the growth and decay behavior of the solid and the mushy layer of the freeze coat and a complete procedure to calculate the process is obtained in this study. The continuously varying solid and mushy layers are immobilized by a coordinate transform and the resulting governing differential equations are solved by a finite difference technique. To account for the latent heat release and property change during solidification, proper phase change models are adopted. And the convection in the liquid melt is modeled as an appropriate heat transfer boundary condition at the liquid/mushy interface. The present results are compared with analytic solutions derived for the freeze coating of infinite dimensional plates and the discrepancy is found to be less than 0.5 percent in relative magnitude for all simulation cases. In addition the conservation of thermal energy is checked. The results show that the freeze coat grows proportional to the 1.2 square of axial position as predicted by analytic solutions ar first. But after the short period of initial growth, the growth rate of the freeze coat gradually decreases and finally the freeze coat starts to decay. The effects of various non-dimensional processing parameters on the behavior of freeze coat are also investigated.
In a steel structural system, noncomposite form deck one-way slab is the plate element supported by four-edged steel beams with unequaled stiffness. However, design criterion has analyzed the one-way slab as the continuous beam. Because the end beams that support the one-way slab have elastic supports t hat cause different deflections according to the support conditions and locations, the bending moments corresponding to the support ic support effect is not considered in the design criterion. Accordingly, to conduct a reasonable estimation of approximate moment coefficients considering the unequaled elastic support conditions, this study analyzes and estimates various models with varia bles for the ratios of live load to dead load and pattern arangements of live loads and span lengths. The analytical methods considering the finite three-dimensional plate element, the two-dimensional elastic support and the infinite stifnes suport are performed.

Leaky wave radiation and surface wave launching problems in a dielectrically covered and periodically slitted parallel-plate waveguide(PPW) are considered for the TEM wave incidence case. Both the infinite and finite periodic geometries are analyzed by use of the method of moments. Some numerical results for the reflected and transmitted powers in the PPW, radiation efficiency into the free space, surface wave launching efficiency into the slab, antenna gain, and radiation patterns against dielectric thickness are presented to show the effect of the dielectric cover on the performances of the slitted leaky wave antenna. In addition, the method for improving surface wave launching efficiency using the proposed periodic geometry is described and maximum launching efficiency of 97.5% is obtained theoretically. So this structure is thought to be promising as an efficient feeder of dielectric grating antenna as well as image guide.
Acoustic load generated by rocket propulsion system is one of major dynamic loads during lift-off phase so that it causes the structural failure and electronic malfunction of payloads. Acoustic loads can be greatly reduced by an appropriate acoustical design of nose faring structures. This paper deals with the acoustical design of the nose fairing structure for launch vehicle. It is well known that a honeycomb sandwich structure is a poor sound insulator because of its high specific stiffness. In this paper, the sound transmission characteristics of four kinds of honeycomb structures for noise fairing were investigated by means of numerical and experimental ways. In order to estimate transmission loss, infinite plate theory by Moore and Lyon and statistical energy analysis (SEA) method were used. The predicted results showed a good agreement with measured ones. These enabled us to determine a proper core material for nose fairing, which shows good sound insulation performance per weight.
