A Computer Simulation Method for Dynamic Analysis of Hydraulic Engine Mount System (유압 엔진 마운트의 동특성 해석 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션 방법 연구)

  • In this paper, a computer simulation method for dynamic analysis of the hydraulic engine mount system is proposed. The hydraulic engine mount system controls the damping characteristics using the viscosity of fluid flow The complex stiffness of the main rubber of the hydraulic engine mount system is computed by finite element analysis for the viscoelastic materials and hydro-static elements. A numerical analysis method is presented to solve nonlinear equations of the hydraulic engine mount system. which is composed of an engine mass, fluid in inertia track and a vertical inertia force of reciprocating mass in the engine. Also. dynamic properties of the hydraulic engine mount system are analyzed in the frequency domain. Effects of the hydraulic engine mount system running over the rough road are investigated using a vehicle dynamic model. These results are compared with those of the rubber mount system.

  • Using the gyro effect, Balance Beam Controller is developed with Samsung Corporation. Balance Beam Controller is possible to control the position of an object in air by controlling the attitude of inner gimbal. But in the unknown load inertia case, even a skilled worker it is not easy to operate a Balance Beam. That is caused by the difficulty to estimate the load inertia. If the amount of the gimbal operation is set excessively with a wrong load estimation, it can often cause accidents. To solve this problem, the control function which is revolving with velocity of the revolution has to be added to developed equipment. In this research, we analyze the characteristics of a Balance Beam(the smaller load inertia, the bigger force of restitution) using the angular velocity sensor, and present constant velocity revolving controller with estimating value of the load using this moving characteristics.

  • The paper presents how to update impedance control parameters for dual-arm manipulators using EMG signals and motions of the operator. Since the hand motions of the dual-arm are modeled to be the mass-spring-damper system in this paper, the impedance parameter update method is an important issue to reflect the operator's force. However, task space inertia to be used as the mass parameter goes to infinity if the manipulator approaches a kinematic singularity. To alleviate this issue, the impedance (stiffness and damping) parameters are divided with a diagonal element of the task space inertia. Also, the stiffness and damping matrices are updated using the normalized EMG signals captured from the operator's forearm. Through this process, the motion of the dual-arm manipulator is more stabilized even though it approaches the kinematic singularity.

  • In this paper, the dynamic response of non-uniform beams subjected to a travelling mass is investigated. Dynamic behaviors of flexible beam structures under a moving mass have been a concern in the design of bridges, ceiling crain in industry, as well as gun barrel fields. Most of studies for moving mass problems have been related to the theoretical dynamic responses of a simple beam model with uniform cross-sections. In some experimental studies, only a few transverse inertia effects due to travelling mass have been studied so far. The intended aim of the present Paper is to investigate the dynamic response of non-uniform beams taking into account of inertia force. centrifugal force, Coriollis force and self weight due to travelling mass. Galerkin's mode summation method is applied for the discretized equations of motion. Numerical results for the dynamic response of non-uniform beams under a travelling mass are demonstrated for various magnitudes and velocities of the travelling mass. In order to verify propriety of numerical solutions, experiments were conducted. Experimental resu1ts have a good agreement wish theoretical Predictions.

  • This paper presents the dynamic response and the vibration characteristics for a rail-track supported by discrete springs and dampers. Recently, automatic conveyer system, rail-track, rack-master system demand the soundproof facilities and vibration suppression measures in order to satisfy the strict environmental standards. The equations of motions of the dynamic characteristics for a vibration suppression rail-track under a traveling mass were derived by Galerkin's mode summation method considering gravity, centrifugal force, Coriolis force, inertia force of the moving mass, transverse inertia of the rail-track. Also, numerical results were calculated by Runge-Kutta integration method. In order to investigate vibration characteristics and dynamic responses, modal testing and measurement of the responses of the rail-track were performed. Through the experiment and numerical simulations, numerical results have a good agreement with experimental ones.

  • There is a great demand of micro-actuators for mobile information devices such as SFF optical drives and mobile camera phones. However, conventional magnetic coils of electromagnetic motors are a major obstacle for miniaturization because of their complicated structures and large power consumption. In this paper, a linear ultrasonic motor to actuate focusing lens of mobile devices is proposed. The new actuator uses a ring type bimorph piezoelectric material, and $d_{31}$ mode is adopted for applying linear motion. The interaction between inertia force and friction force makes linear motion by high-frequency saw signal input. The saw signal gives steady forces on the one direction by asymmetric inclination property of the signal itself on time domain. A commercial FEM (ANSYS) was used in this investigation for simulating structural analysis, identification of dynamic property, such as resultant displacement and coupled analysis with piezoelectric material. To evaluate the performance of the new design, a prototype was manufactured and experiments were carried out. Experimental results show the actuator motion of 1.52 mm/s at 10 kHz input signal in 5 V.

Snap back testing of unbonded post-tensioned concrete wall systems

  • Unbonded Post-Tensioned (UPT) precast concrete systems have been shown to provide excellent seismic resistance. In order to improve understanding of the dynamic response of UPT systems, a series of snap back tests on four UPT systems was undertaken consisting of one Single Rocking Wall (SRW) and three Precast Wall with End Columns (PreWEC) systems. The snap back tests provided both a static pushover and a nonlinear free vibration response of a system. As expected the SRW exhibited an approximate bi-linear inertia force-drift response during the free vibration decay and the PreWEC walls showed an inertia force-drift response with increased strength and energy dissipation due to the addition of steel O-connectors. All walls exhibited negligible residual drifts regardless of the number of O-connectors or the post-tensioning force. When PreWEC systems of the same strength were compared the inclusion of further energy dissipating O-connectors was found to decrease the measured peak wall acceleration. Both the local and global wall parameters measured at pseudo-static and dynamic loading rates showed similar behaviour, which demonstrates that the dynamic behaviour of UPT walls is well represented by pseudo-static tests. The SRW was found to have Equivalent Viscous Damping (EVD) between 0.9-3.8% and the three PreWEC walls were found to have maximum EVD of between 14.7-25.8%.

A model for investigating vehicle-bridge interaction under high moving speed

  • The speed of rail vehicles become higher and higher over two decades, and China has unveiled a prototype high-speed train in October 2020 that has been able to reach 400 km/h. At such high speeds, wheel-rail force items that had previously been ignored in common computational model should be reevaluated and reconsidered. Aiming at this problem, a new model for investigating the vehicle-bridge interaction at high moving speed is proposed. Comparing with the common model, the new model was more accurate and applicable, because it additionally considers the second-order pseudo-inertia forces effect and its modeling equilibrium position was based on the initial deformed curve of bridge, which could include the influences of temperature, pre-camber, shrinkage and creep deformation, and pier uneven settlement, etc. Taking 5 km/h as the speed interval, the dynamic responses of the classical vehicle-bridge system in the speed range of 5 km/h to 400 km/h are studied. The results show that ignoring the second-order pseudo-inertia force will underestimate the dynamic response of vehicle-bridge system and make the high-speed railway bridge structure design unsafe.

A Study on the Dynamic Stability of a Flexible Missile with Mass Variation (질량변화를 갖는 유연한 미사일의 동적 안정성에 관한 연구)

  • The dynamic stability problem of nonconservative system is one of the important problems. In this study, flexible missile with mass variation is regarded as a free Timoshenko beam subjected to a controlled follower force. The stability was studied numerically through the finite element method. Through the study, the obtained results are as follows: [1] Without force direction control (1) In the case of no mass reduction, the existence of concentrated mass increases critical follower force. (2) Mass reduction rate of the beam slightly effects on the change of critical follower force. [2] With force direction control (1) Shear deformation parameter S contributes insignificantly to the force at instability when $S{\geq}10^4$. (2) With mass variation, increase of concentrated mass increases critical follower force at instbility. (3) The type of promary instability is determined by the sensor location.
