Optimal Efficiency Control for Induction Motor Drives

  • This paper presents the control algorithm for maximum efficiency drives of an induction motor system with the high dynamic performance. This system uses a simple model of the induction motor that includes equations of iron losses. The model, which only requires the parameters of induction motor, is referred to a field-oriented frame. The minimum point of the input power can be obtained at the steady state condition. The reference torque and flux currents for the vector control of induction motors are calculated by the optimal efficiency control algorithm. The drive system with the proposed efficiency optimization controller has been implemented by a 32 bit floating point TMS320C32 DSP chip. The results show the effectiveness of the control strategy proposed for the induction motor drive.

  • This paper aims to compare the performance of three phase induction motor drives using Five Leg Inverter (FLI) and Three Leg Inverter (TLI) configurations. An Indirect Field Oriented Control (IFOC) method using a TLI is well established and incorporated for high performance speed drives in various industries. The FLI dual motor drive system on the other hand shows good workability in the independent control of two induction motor drives simultaneously. In this experiment, the IFOC method is utilized for both drive systems, and Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) is used to generate pulses for both inverters. For the FLI, the Double Zero Sequence (DZS) Injection technique is used to generate the modulation signal. The complete experiment setup is done by using a DSpace 1103 controller board. The individual motor performances are analyzed using similar schemes, equipment setups and controller parameter values. The results show similar speed performance response capability between the single motor operation using a TLI system and the two motor operation using a FLI system based on the variable speed range either in forward or reverse operation. They also show similar load rejection abilities. However, the single motor with a TLI has a better power quality aspect such as ripple current and total harmonics distortion (THD).

  • 본 논문은 적응 퍼지 제어기에 의한 유도전동기의 ANN 센서리스 제어를 제시한다. 또한 AFC를 사용하여 속도를 제어하고 ANN 제어기를 이용하여 속도를 추정한다. 신경회로망의 역전파 알고리즘은 전동기 속도의 실시간 추정에 사용된다. 요구상태 변수와 실제 상태는 실제 상태 변수는 요구값에 일치하기 위해서 역전파 알고리즘에 의해 회전자 속도를 조절한다. 제시된 제어 알고리즘 AFLC와 ANN 제어기는 유도전동기 드라이브 시스템 제어에 적용된다. 그리고 본 논문은 AFLC와 ANN 제어기의 우수한 결과를 나타낸다.

  • The paper describes the control strategy and hardware design for forced commutation cycloconverter which was developed for ac servo motor drive application of vector control. 12-pulse cycloconverter is used to investigate experimentally the performance of an induction motor drive system. The cycloconverter has the facility for continuous control of both the frequency and magnitude of the output voltage to keep a constant flux in the induction motors.

  • 대전력 전동기 구동장시스템에서 하드 스위칭 토폴로지는 심각한 스위칭 손실과 EMI잡음문제를 일으키며, 인버터 스위칭 주파수는 과도한 손실과 열적문제 때문에 제한되게 된다. 본 연구의 목적은 개선된 소프트 스위칭 토폴로지에 의해 스위칭손실과 EMI를 저감할 수 있는 대용량 교류전동기의 구동에 적합한 시스템을 개발하고자하며, 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통하여 그 타당성을 입증하였다.

  • The field oriented control of induction motors is widely used in high performance applications. However, detuning caused by parameter disturbance still limits the performance of these drives. In order to accomplish variable speed operation conventional PI-like controllers are commonly used. These controllers provide limited good performance over a wide range of operation even under ideal field oriented conditions. This paper is proposed adaptive fuzzy controller(AFC) and artificial neural network(ANN) based on the vector controlled induction motor drive system. Also, this paper is proposed control of speed and current using fuzzy adaptation mechanism(FAM), AFC and estimation of speed using ANN. The proposed control algorithm is applied to induction motor drive system using FAM, AFC and ANN controller. Also, this paper is proposed the analysis results to verify the effectiveness of this controller.

  • The method to improve the efficiency of a slightly loaded induction motor is suggested. It is based upon the optimal efficiency slip tracking by adjusting the voltage to frequency ratio(V/f). It is adopted the converter-inverter fed induction motor drive system. All the control loops are implemented bh the Z-80 microprocessor. By this method, 10% or more improvement is achieved at a few fraction of the full load.

  • In this paper, a performance evaluation of different current regulators for induction motor drive systems fed by IGBT inverter is presented. The twoparts of current regulation are considered : current error compensation part, voltage modulation part. The characteristics of hysteresis, synchronous PI, decoupled PI, predictive, deadbeat and stage feedback controllers are analyzed and the steady-state performances and transient responses of current regulation are well compared through the simulation and experimental results.

  • In recent years, a.c servo motors have been gradually replacing d.c sevo motors in various high-performance demanded aplications such as machine tools and industrial robots. In particular, the high-performance slip-frequency control of an induction motor, which is often called the vector control, is considered one of the best a.c drive. In this paper, the transient state equation and vector control algrithms of an induction motor are described mathematically by using the two-axis theory(d-q coordinates). According to the result of these algorithms, we scheme the speed control system for an induction type ac servo motor in which vector control is adopted to give tha a.c motor high performance. Motor drive is a PWM inverter using power MOS-FET, and is controlled in order to let the actual input current of the motor track the current reference obtained from a microcomputer(8086 cpu). Driving experiments are performed in the range of 0 to 3000 rpm, and it is verified that high speed response is possible.

  • 유도전동기의 벡터제어는 고성능 적용에서 광범위하게 사용되고 있다. 그러나 이러한 드라이브 성능은 파라미터 변동에 의한 동조는 여전히 한계가 있다. 다양한 속도영역에서 운전하기 위하여 종래에는 PI과 같은 제어기를 보통 사용하였다. 이러한 제어기들은 이상적인 벡터제어 조건에서 광범위한 운전에 대하여 제한된 양호한 성능을 나타낸다. 본 논문은 다중 적응 제어기를 사용하여 유도전동기 드라이브의 고성능 제어를 제시한다. 이 제어기는 FAM(Fuzzy Adaptation Mechanism)에 의 해 속도제어, MFC(Model Reference Adaptive Fuzzy Control)에 의해 전류제어 그리고 ANN을 이용하여 속도추정을 수행한다. 제시한 제어 알고리즘은 FAD MFC및 ANN 제어기를 사용하여 유도전동기 드라이브 시스템에 적용한다. 제시한 제어기의 성능은 유도전동기의 파라미터를 사용하여 다양한 동작조건에서 해석으로 평가한다. 또한, 본 논문은 제어기의 효용성을 입증하기 위하여 해석결과를 제시한다.
