  • Capstone design is a subject taught in a setting where students gather in a team, decide on their own selected topic, and collaborate with one another to perform a project. A fair assessment is very important in a team project-based capstone design course for students. Many instructors agree that harmonizing creative evaluation and outcome assessment is hard in capstone design class. In also, it is not easy to assess students' individual efforts and achievements fairly in accordance with team-based assessment practices. To resolve this issue in this paper, we have surveyed various engineering design education methodologies, and have modelled existing evaluating elements into a modified creative process and outcome assessment framework for team project assessment. In particular, we focused on a method of fairly assigning credits by combining team based and individual-level assessments. Analyzing students' achievement and grade evaluation and verifying the validity of the proposed method was performed.

The research model takes multi-dimensional perspective. The empirical study has been done using data collected from 360 military officers. The research findings are as follows: First, individual career management behavior is directly linked to the experience of organizational career management help. Second, both individual and organizational career management behaviors are connected to organizational commitment. Especially, career help from military organizations is closely related to affective commitment. Third, psychological contract fulfillment plays a key role in mediating the relationship between organizational career management help and affective commitment. These findings provide some support for the dimensional effects of individual career management behavior on organizational career management, psychological contract fulfillment and organizational commitment in military sector.

  • Knowledge of abundance, or population size, is fundamental in wildlife conservation and management. Camera-trapping, in combination with capture-recapture methods, has been extensively applied to estimate abundance and density of individually identifiable animals due to the advantages of being non-invasive, effective to survey wide-ranging, elusive, or nocturnal species, operating in inhospitable environment, and taking low labor. We assessed the possibility of using coat patterns from images to identify an individual leopard cat (Prionailurus bengalensis), a Class II endangered species in South Korea. We analyzed leopard cat images taken from Digital Single-Lense Relfex camera (high resolution, 18Mpxl) and camera traps (low resolution, 3.1Mpxl) using HotSpotter, an image matching algorithm. HotSpotter accurately top-ranked an image of the same individual leopard cat with the reference leopard cat image 100% by matching facial and ventral parts. This confirms that facial and ventral fur patterns of the Amur leopard cat are good matching points to be used reliably to identify an individual. We anticipate that the study results will be useful to researchers interested in studying behavior or population parameter estimates of Amur leopard cats based on capture-recapture models.

  • Background: Some researchers state that they are not yet able to provide a deep understanding of the underlying causes of unsafe behaviors (UBs). Therefore, the present study was conducted to investigate the attitudes and experiences of Iranian workers of UBs. Methods: This present study was conducted in 35 industries using a semistructured interview based on grounded theory. Forty participants were interviewed, including 13 industrial safety and health experts and 27 workers and supervisors. The analysis of the present study consisted of a three-step coding process including open, axial, and selective coding. Results: The results showed that the factors affecting UBs could be classified into three categories: organizational, individual, and socioeconomic factors. Organizational factors were divided into 6 parts: procedure and environmental conditions, communications, monitoring, organizational safety culture, resource allocation, and human resources. Socioeconomic factors had three subcategories: community safety culture, type of organizational ownership, and economic problems. Finally, the individual factors were classified into two categories of personality traits and individual competence. Conclusion: The results showed that organizational factors were the most categorized, and it is estimated that this factor has a more important role in the UBs. Of course, to better understand the close relationship between these factors and find the weight and importance of each factor, it needs to measure it with multicriteria decision systems.

  • The research expects that textual sources such as reading texts with additional information in the form of texts can be effective inspiration sources for fashion design ideation and development process. This research analyzes how efficiently textual sources work along with individual internal sources, such as sociocultural influence, design fixation, and during the design process. Six fashion design graduate students shared 2 inspirational experiences under 2 different studies (4 experiences in total); in addition, in-depth interviews were conducted based on individual design sketches. The result shows that textual sources provided a positive effect on all 6 participants with different intensities based on various backgrounds and individual tastes. This result demonstrates individual 'influence' (their sociocultural capital such as personal preferences, likings, habits, and past experiences) and 'inspiration' mutually work together to make an effect on fashion designers' ideation and development process for the design, sometimes one working more than the other (or vice versa), respectively. This paper makes important practical contributions by identifying and discussing the design behavior performed (especially in fashion design) by fashion design students during the design process with new sources of inspiration provided such as textual sources. The research revealed how textual sources can be an effective inspiration for fashion design students and provide insight to fashion design educators and professional fashion designers.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide implications for improving the safety behavior of university lab students by grasping the relationship between leaders' safety leadership, the lab's safety climate, and individual safety motivation variables. To this end, a survey was conducted on nationwide university laboratories, and the main results are as follows. First, transformational and transactional safety leadership had a positive effect on safety behavior, while the laissez-faire one had a negative impact.Second, it was found that the laboratory safety climate plays a mediating role in the relationship in which safety leadership affects safety behavior. Third, it was found that individual safety motivation was governed by the laboratory safety climate's effect on safety behavior. Fourth, individual safety motivation was found to control the mediating effect of the laboratory safety climate in the relationship between safety leadership and safety behavior. The conclusion of this study is the following: to strengthen the safety behavior of university laboratory students, the laboratory manager must operate the laboratory with a transformational and transactional safety leadership. Additionally, educational institutions must effectively operate their own safety-day programs to create a safe climate for each laboratory and improve students' safety motives.
