Bone graft materials and its intended use (임상가를 위한 특집 1 - 뼈이식재 족보 바로 알고 사용하기)

  • bone grafting is indicated in the case of bony defects and is classified into autograft, allograft, and xenograft. Synthetic bone graft is contrasted with these three categories in that it has a different donor source. Autograft is most prominent as it is known as a gold standard of all grafting procedures. Its principles and practices are well established via accumulated informations and clinical experiences, which imposes no regulations or restrictions in its clinical use. On the other hand, other bone graft procedures are under tight control for the safety and effectiveness of each product. Food and Drug Administration of the United States has a system in which the information on the approvals and clearances of bone graft materials on their internet homepage. All the bone graft materials that are under the regulations of the United States are classified into the category of medical devices, which includes allogenic bone, xenogenic bone, and synthetic bone graft materials. Each bone graft material has its own indication and the FDA approvals and clearances of medical devices contain the item of "intended use" to specify the indications of each bone graft materials. US dentists, as users of the specific bone graft materials, are provided with adequate information on the approved materials they are to utilize. As an user of these materials, Korean dentists are less provided with the information on the bone graft materials they want to use. Medical providers of the bone graft materials have to be able to provide their users with the essential information such as the intended use of the regulatory approval. Dentists must also be active in gathering informations on the material of their interest, and the system must be built in which both of the medical providers and users of bone graft materials can be satisfied in providing and getting the information, respectively.

Measurement and Evaluation of the Construction Safety Sign Panel Using Colorimeter (측색기를 활용한 건설안전표지의 측색과 평가)

  • Safety sign panel has been used in construction sites to assure the safety of the workers. Such safety panel can be categorized as 4 different signals, such as prohibition, warning, indication, and information. Each of the categorized item must follow lawful which is specifically designated for its own purposes, on its color and the shape. However, the color and shape of the safety sign panels that have been used in construction sites are not found to follow the suggested lawful requirement, and such differences are originated from safety merchandise production company or vendor, and construction company. In this study, samples of safety sign panels were obtained from various construction sites in Republic of Korea then the colors of such samples were measured, analyzed, and compared. According to the results, colors of the safety sign panels were out of the lawful requirement due to the aging and surface contamination of the safety sign panel. Frequent maintenance on the safety sign panel is therefore necessary. In addition, steel panels that were used in the construction sites were found to be unsuitable to meet the lawful requirements. In order to the color requirements on safety sign panel, it is recommended for Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency to provide standard reference sample for each material used to produce safety sign panel, to distribute them to the producer and construction sites, and to supervise overall system.

  • This article is an attempt to explain, at least in part, the contemporary Korean women's consciousness of Western Dreasses. As time changes, the role of clothing undergoes varisous transitions, while values and ways of life are constantly in change. It is, therefore, proper and appropriate to recognize as among the major aspects of social psychology such phenomenon as interests, understanding of clothing, the choice of a dress, and attitudes toward clothing, etc. The purpose of this study is to discover problems concerning and their clothing and their solutions, by means of a surveying approach. The method of research used is based upon questionares distributed to parents of first-year pupils in elementary schools and to female clerks working in offices, covering the period from August through October, 1976. The number of the questionares distrubuted totalled 600, and 526 were returned to the research to be utilized for analysis. The contents of the survey included such things as values concerning clothing, kinds of clothing and their practical use, the selection of clothing and the method of purchase, fashions, etc. The classification of aquisition are self-made clothing, clothing made to order and ready-made materials. It is composed of 25 items, including affirmative reasons as well as negative ones. The processing of the material returned was made by using the computer, and based upon classifications such as ages, monthly income, occupations; thus diagraming the result in percentages. The conclusion made and the improvements proposed are as follows: 1. The values of clothing were placed on the expression of the wearer's personality (32.7) and on eauty(28. 6%). The lower age group places is stress upon the expression of personality, while the higher age group stresses beauty. About 50% of wearers are contented with their clothing, their clothing, the rest of whom them indicating their dissatisfaction with what they wear. As to designs at the time of selection, about 46% indicated their preference of personal expression, 31.8% on usefulness. In selecting material, practicality is emphasized; in selecting patterns, single color is preferred. In short, personal expression and esthetic values are primary, with consideration of practicality in mind. 2. The classification of clothing according to their uses indicates the highest numbers in normal wear (home wears) and clothings to be worn outside home. As to evening dresses, (party dress) only one or two articles were checked by many, and no such article was clamed to be possessed by most. The highest ratio of wearing was shown in the case of home wear (47.3%) and clothing to be worn outside the home, which is 55.8%. The budget for one article of clothing was greatest in the case of home wear, and clothing worn outside the home. Many used both kinds of articles for the same purpose. It is desirable, therefore, that the kinds of clothing should be varied according to the purpose for which they are worn, and that clothing appropriate for that purpose should be worn. 3. The motivation for purchasing clothing was highly chosen in the item of seasonal change, which was 55.7%; Clothing deliberately made was indicated by 45.2%. In the mothods of purchasing clothing, clothing made to order and ready-made was indicated by 44.4%, which is the highest; Clothing made to order was 25.4%, and self-sewing was 1.1%, which is the lowest. (1) In the case of self-sewing, "I like it but it is very hard," was checked by 43.6%; "It is so difficult that I cannot wear such clothing" was checked by 13.3%. From these, we can conclude that the questionees are willing to make clothing by themselves, but techniques involved in sewing and at her problems involved in the skill are complicated but when those problems are eliminated there is a possibility for practice. The response checked by questionees concerning the self-sewing was, "It's economical", which is a clear indication that many questionees are positive for self-sewing. It is generally believed that ready-made clothing is cheaper, but it is not necessarily so. In consideration of the quality of clothing, self-sewing is a necessity, and it is desirable that it should be encouraged. (3) Problems involved in ready-made clothing, such as designs, skills, size (fitting) should be eliminated. When these problems are scientifically gotten rid of, it is possible that affirmative returns will be expected. Affirmative responses such as "Ready-made clothing is economical," "You can select there on the spot," are good signs that many women expect to wear ready-made clothing. It is in this sense that the prospect for ready-made clothing is brighter when much development for ready-made clothing is on the way. 4. Much concern for fashion are checked in such item of questions as "Fashionable clothing in the show window," "Clothes worn by women." The first item was checked by 50.1 %, and the second was checked by 48.6%. The reason for following fashion is "Because many people wear them," which was indicated by 30.4%. The reason for not following fashion is "It is too expensive," which was checked by 29.6%. The 26.2% of the answers indicated that "Fashionable clothing is devoid of personality," The influences of fashion over the development of fashion over the development of clothing are two-fold: Esthetic and active. Studies on Lipids and Proteins of Rabbit Meat -I. Emphasis on lipid component of rabbit meat- (토끼고기의 지방질과 단백질에 관한 연구 -I. 지방성분을 중심으로-)

  • Among animals, the rabbit is known to be affected most sensitively by dietary changes and to be most susceptible to atherosclerosis. The exact reason is still unknown as to whether the primary cause is intrinsic (tissue itself) or extrinsic such as a blood factor which could be influenced by various dietary means. It is of utmost importance to check the nutritional quality of rabbit meat before it is accepted and adapted as a daily food item. To evaluate nutritional quality of rabbit meat, studies on various aspects of lipid components were carried out in comparison with other animal meats such as beef, pork and chicken also included in the study was the question whether the cooking and storage conditions influence the composition of fatty acids and cholesterol level. Some results and findings are listed below: 1. The content of linoleic acid (18 : 2), one of the essential fatty acids, was much higher in rabbit meat compared to the other meats. The Percentages of this Polyunsaturated fatty acids, was much higher in rabbit meat compared to the other meats. The percentages of this polyunsaturated fatty acid in terms of total fatty acids were $37.3{\pm}3.7$, 5.9, 14.5, and 21.9% for rabbit, beef, pork, and chicken respectively. The degree of unsaturation was high not only in meat but also in liver and adipose tissue of rabbit. The values of iodine number, the indication of degree of unsaturation, were known to be $102{\sim}107$, $32{\sim}47$, $46{\sim}67$, and $55{\sim}77$ for rabbit, beef, pork, and chicken respectively. Such a high proportion of this polyunsaturated fatty acid contained in rabbit meat could be harmful due to their Peroxidation effect. 2. A small amount of lower (short chain) fatty acids was isolated from rabbit tussues, which were not observed in other animal's tissues. The significance of this small amount of short chain fatty acids contained in rabbit meat remained an open question. 3. The concentration of total cholesterol in rabbit meat was similar to that of otherr but the content of esterified cholesterol was higher in rabbit meat. This was probably due to the perference of cholesterol to esterify with unsaturated fatty acids. By roasting the percentage of Polyunsaturated fatty acids was decreased while saturated palmitic acid was proportionally increased. 4 The composition of fatty acids were affected more by dry heat than moist heat. More research should be pursued to improve methods of preservation and storage to prevent possible peroxidation and rancidity problems of rabbit meat. In the meantime, the public should be informed to eat fresh rabbit meat and not to store it for a long period of time. This study was supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology in Korea.

Visualization and contamination analysis for groundwater quality of CDEWSF in Gwangju area using statistical method (통계적 기법을 이용한 광주지역 민방위비상급수용 지하수 수질 오염도 분석 및 시각화 연구)

  • In this study, groundwater quality data measured for 11 years from 2006 to 2016 were analyzed statistically for 101 civil defense emergency water supply facilities (CDEWSF) in the Gwangju area. The contamination level was quantified into four grades by using excess drinking water quality standards, average concentration analysis, and tendency analysis results for each facility. On the basis of this approach, the groundwater contamination degree of each item was evaluated according to land use status, installation year, depth, and geological distribution. The contamination grade ratios, which were obtained by analyzing three contamination indicators (water quality exceeded frequency, average concentration analysis, and trend analysis) for 15 items on statistically significant of civil defense emergency water was relatively high, in the order of Turbidity (51.5 %) > Color (32.7 %) > Nitrate nitrogen (28.7 %) > Hardness (25.7 %). As a result of the contamination grade analysis, except for the items of Turbidity, Color, and Nitrate nitrogen, the contamination levels were distributed in various degrees from "clean (0)" to "seriously contaminated (3)." Regarding the contamination grade of 12 items, 25 % of the total were classified as "possibly contaminated (1)," and 75 % were rated "clean (0)." The four items (Turbidity, Color, Nitrate nitrogen, and Hardness) for which contamination indication rate were evaluated as "high" by the were visualized on a contamination map.

Analyzing Place Location Knowledge Items of the Korean Geography Subject in the College Scholastic Ability Test: Focusing on Human (Economic) Geography (대학수학능력시험 한국지리 과목의 위치정보 문항 출제 경향 연구: 인문(경제)지리 문항을 중심으로)

  • The present research explores the tendency of the items that require Place Location Knowledge (PLK) of the Korean Geography subject in the College Scholastic Ability Test. The major findings are as follows. First, the geographical regions of the items are spatially skewed, especially in the Yeongnam regions, which are tested more frequently compared to the others. Second, the fact-based items more concern with regionality such as geographic indication system and regional festivals. Third, the concept-based items can be divided into physical geography and human geography and there were four items related to economic geography. Fourth, students tend to find it challenging in the items asking PLK. The difficulty varies according to the type of items. The students find concept-based items which require high-order thinking more challenging. There is also differences identified between contents. For example, the section of physical geography, especially climatology-related, were considered the most challenging followed by those of economic geography. Finally, the differences in the rate of correct answer are associated with the scale of the regions covered in the items and students experienced more difficulty in the items asking more precise scale.

A Study of Life Safety Index Model based on AHP and Utilization of Service (AHP 기반의 생활안전지수 모델 및 서비스 활용방안 연구)

  • Purpose: This study aims is to provide a total care solution preventing disaster based on Big Data and AI technology and to service safety considered by individual situations and various risk characteristics. The purpose is to suggest a method that customized comprehensive index services to prevent and respond to safety accidents for calculating the living safety index that quantitatively represent individual safety levels in relation to daily life safety. Method: In this study, we use method of mixing AHP(Analysis Hierarchy Process) and Likert Scale that extracted from consensus formation model of the expert group. We organize evaluation items that can evaluate life safety prevention services into risk indicators, vulnerability indicators, and prevention indicators. And We made up AHP hierarchical structure according to the AHP decision methodology and proposed a method to calculate relative weights between evaluation criteria through pairwise comparison of each level item. In addition, in consideration of the expansion of life safety prevention services in the future, the Likert scale is used instead of the AHP pair comparison and the weights between individual services are calculated. Result: We obtain result that is weights for life safety prevention services and reflected them in the individual risk index calculated through the artificial intelligence prediction model of life safety prevention services, so the comprehensive index was calculated. Conclusion: In order to apply the implemented model, a test environment consisting of a life safety prevention service app and platform was built, and the efficacy of the function was evaluated based on the user scenario. Through this, the life safety index presented in this study was confirmed to support the golden time for diagnosis, response and prevention of safety risks by comprehensively indication the user's current safety level.
