  • In this study, we developed an automated contact-type thickness measurement machine that continuously and precisely measures the thickness of a PCB module product using multi-LVDT sensors. The system contains a measurement part to automatically measure the thickness in real time according to the set conditions with an alignment supply unit and unloading unit to separate OK and NG products. The sensors were calibrated before assembly in the measuring machine, and precision and accuracy performance tests were also performed to reduce uncertainty errors in the measurement machine. In the calibration test, the precision errors of the LVDT sensor were determined to be $1-3{\mu}m$ as 0.1% at the measuring range. A measurement error of 0.8 mm and 1.0 mm thickness test standards were found to be $1{\mu}m$ and $4{\mu}m$, and the standard deviations of two 1.0 mm products were measured as $14{\mu}m$ and $8{\mu}m$, respectively. In the measurement system analysis, the accuracies of test PCB standards were found to be $2{\mu}m$ and $3{\mu}m$, respectively. From the results of gage repeatability and reproducibility (R & R) crossed, we found that the machine is suitable for the measurement and process control in the mass production line as 7.92% of total gage R & R and in seven distinct categories. The maximum operating speed was limited at 13 pcs/min, showing a value good enough to measure.

  • In industrial control systems, flow measurement is a very important issue. It is frequently needed to calculate how much total fluid or gas flows through a cross-section. Flow volume measurement tools use simple sampling or rectangle methods. Actually, flow volume measurement process is an integration process. For this reason, measurement systems using instantaneous sampling technique cause considerably high errors. In order to make more accurate flow measurement, numerical integration methods should be used. Literally, for numerical integration method, Rectangular, Trapezoidal, Simpson, Romberg and Gaussian Quadrature methods are suggested. Among these methods, trapezoidal rule method is quite easy to calculate and is notably more accurate and contains no restrictive conditions. Therefore, it is especially convenient for the portable flow volume measurement systems. In this study, the volume measurement of air which is flowing through a cross-section is achieved by using PLC ladder diagram. The measurements are done using two different approaches. Trapezoidal rule method is proposed to measure the flow sensor signal to minimize measurement errors due to the classical sampling method as a different approach. It is concluded that the trapezoidal rule method is more effective than the classical sampling.

  • The measurement of stator core loss for an induction motor at each manufacturing process is carried out in this paper. Iron loss in the stator core of induction motor changes after each manufacturing process due to the mechanical stress, which can cause the deterioration of the magnetic performances. This paper proposes a new iron loss measuring system of the stator core in an induction motor, which can be applied to the case when the distribution of magnetic flux density is not uniform along the magnetic flux path. In the system, the iron loss is calculated based on the induced voltage of the B-search coil and exciting current.

  • The objective of this research is to develop a measurement error compensation method for On-Machine Measurement (OMM) process based on a closed-loop configuration. Geometric errors of vertical machining center are measured using ball-bar system, and probing errors are measured using master ball. The errors are represented using homogeneous trans-formation matrices and the closed-loop configuration method is applied to calculate 3-dimensional errors. To verify the effectiveness of the method proposed in this research, compensated results are compared to the data using CMM process, and the results are analyzed. The results show the proposed method can be applied in OMM process to make the measured data more reliable.

  • In this paper, we report the fabrication of the tip-on-gate of a field-effect-transistor (ToGoFET) probe using a standard complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) process and the performance evaluation of the fabricated probe. After the CMOS process, I-V characteristic measurement was performed on the reference MOSFET. We confirmed that the ToGoFET probe could be operated at a gate voltage of 0 V due to channel ion implantation. The transconductance at the operating point (Vg = 0 V, Vd = 2 V) was 360 ㎂/V. After the fabrication process was completed, calibration was performed using a pure metal sample. For sensitivity calibration, the relationship between the input voltage of the sample and the output current of the probe was determined and the result was consistent with the measurement result of the reference MOSFET. An oxide sample measurement was performed as an example of an application of the new ToGoFET probe. According to the measurement, the ToGoFET probe could spatially resolve a hundred nanometers with a height of a few nanometers in both the topographic image and the ToGoFET image.

  • Analysis of measurement systems is important to determine if the measurement process is adequate to measure the part-to-part variability in the process. Control chart techniques provide an effective, and easy-to-use method for performing this analysis. However, application with the real data for the evaluation procedure for multiple measurement systems have not been demonstrated. This research will provide a methodology for the evaluation of part-to-part variation and variation of different measurement systems step by step followed by number of case studies for each methodologies provided.

The test items focus on the verification of the performance and acquirement of the technical data of the high speed railway system. The software controls the hardware of the measurement system, perform the analysis and calculation of measurement data and acts as interface between users and the system hardware. For this purpose, three programs a measuring program, a monitoring program and post-processing program are developed. The detailed test scenario is in the process of development to closely follow the process of development and design of the system.

  • This paper presents an optical surface roughness sensor developed for intermediate- process measurement on the machine. The light scattering method is adopted for the sensor, which is designed conpact and flexible enough to apply to 'on the machine' measurement of surface roughness. The developed sensor has special features such that it makes use, as the measurement parameter, of the ratio between fluxes of the incident light, and the specularly and partly diffusely reflected light, and that it can adjust the incident light angle. The experimental investigation reveals not only the sensor has good performance as a surface roughness sensor but the sensor is very robust so as to be useful in in-process measurement.

  • The density of fabric is a very important parameter in many fabric production processes. However, in the textile fabrication factories, textile density measurement process has been done inefficiently by handicraft. Thus, exact textile density measurement process is necessary to fabricate high quality textile through weft straighten. In this paper, we propose an automatic textile density measurement system to measure textile density automatically and to improve fabrication efficiency. The proposed system uses cylindrical lens to optically scan the weftl information of the fabric as well as convex lens to enlarge the weft images. The proposed system improves textile quality and provides constant density value to the whole textile range in the high speed fabrication process.

  • Conventional furnace annealing (CFA) for activating Mg-doped p-type GaN films had been performed in pure $N_2$ ambient. All sample activated the same gas ambient. The annealing process change temperature: the first process is performed at $550^{\circ}C$ for 10 min. but, the first process is the same bulk. From second to five process increase activation temperature to change $50^{\circ}C$ and annealing time keeping for 10 min. It is found that the samples characteristic measure hall measurement. Similar results were also evidenced by photoluminescence (PL) measurement.
