Recently, high strength steel (HSS) sheet metal has been widely used to improve lightweight structures in the automotive industry. Because HSS sheets have high strength but low elongation, it is difficult both to make products with complex shapes and to control excessive springback. In order to reduce the springback after forming using HSS, draw beads were introduced in this study. The design variables, including the draw-bead positions and shapes, were optimized using a finite element analysis. A mold for a scanner support, which is part of an A3 printer, was designed using the proposed method and then utilized. The results from a finite element simulation and optimization were compared with the experiment results.
In this study, we develop a novel high-throughput micronanopatterning system that can implement continuous mechanical pattern inscribing on flexible substrates using a rigid grating mold edge. We perform a conceptual design of the process principle, specific modeling, and buildup of a real system prototype. This research also carefully addresses several important issues related to processing and controlling, including precision motion, alignment, heating, and sensing to enable a successful micronanopatterning in a continuous and high-speed fashion. Various micronanopatterns with the desired profiles can be created by tuning the mold shape, temperature, force, and substrate material toward many potential applications involving electronics, photonics, displays, light sources, and sensors, which typically require a large-area and flexible configurations.
A custom micro-PIV optics assembly has been used to measure the flow field inside a T-shaped microchannel. The micro-PIV system consists of microscope objectives of various magnifications, a dichroic cube, and an 8-bit CCD camera. Fluorescent particles of diameters 620nm have been used with a Nd:YAG laser and color filters. A programmable syringe pump with Teflon tubings were used to inject particle-seeded distilled water into the channel at flow rates of $420,\;40,\;60{\mu}L/hr$. The microchannels are fabricated with PDMS with a silicon mold, then $O_2-ion$ bonded onto a slide glass. Results show differences in flow characteristics and resolution according to fluid injection rates, and magnifications, respectively. The results show PIV results with vector-to-vector distances of $2{\mu}m$ with 32 pixel-square interrogation windows at $50{\%}$ overlap.
In this paper, we developed an optical sheet for LED lighting with integrated $CO_2$ gas and temperature sensor which can monitor at the indoor environment. The optical sheet for LED lighting is fabricated through PMMA(Polymethyl methacrylate) injection process using mold. This research enables to fabricate the reflective sheet, light-guide plate and the prism sheet in a optical sheet. The fabricated sheet demonstrates higher intensity of optical efficiency compared with single-sided sheets. The $CO_2$ sensor was fabricated using NDIR(NON-Dispersive Infrared) method and it has $0.0235mV/V{\cdot}PPM$ sensitivity. The temperature sensor was fabricated using RTD(Resistance temperature detector) method and it has $0.563{\Omega}/^{\circ}C $sensitivity.
Nanostructured materials are attracting increased interest and application. Exciting perspectives may be offered by electrical insulation. Epoxy/Organoclay nanocomposites may find new and upgraded applications in the electrical industry, replacing conventional insulation to provide improved performances in electric power apparatus, e.g, high voltage motor/generator stator winding insulation, dry mold transformer, etc. This paper shows that electrical and thermal properties of epoxy/organoclay nanocomposites insulating materials for dsc, dielectric constant, I-V characteristics, breakdown volatge, can improve significantly with respect to the basic, virgin materials.
Magnesium alloys have given high attention to the industry of light-weigh as automobile and electronics with aluminium, titanium and composite alloys due to their high strength, low specific density and good damping characteristics. But the magnesium contained structures under high temperature have the problems related to creep deformation and rupture life, which is a reason of developing the new material against creep deformation to use them safely. The purpose of this study is to predict the creep deformation mechanism and rupture time of AZ31 magnesium alloy. For this, creep tests of AZ31 magnesium alloy were done under constant creep load and temperature with the equipment including automatic temperature controller with acquisition computer. The apparent activation energy Qc, the applied stress exponent n and rupture life have been determined over the temperature range below 0.5Tm and stress range of 109~187MPa, respectively, in order to investigate the creep behavior. AZ31 Magnesium alloy identify the activation energy for creep deformation and the stress dependence to creep rate at below 0.5Tm, and then investigate the mechanism for creep deformation and creep rupture life of AZ31 Magnesium alloy.
The objective of this study is to provide a simple methodology to find optimum processing conditions to fabricate sub-micron structured DVD-RAM substrates with superb optical and geometrical properties. It was fecund that the birefringence, which is regarded as one of the most important optical properties for an optical disk, was very sensitive to the mold wall temperature history. Also, the integrity of the replication, represented by the land-groove structure and the radial tilt were influenced by the mold temperature and the compression pressure. A set of optimum conditions were obtained by applying Design of Experiment and the objective functions composed of three different objectives.
In this paper, the surface modificatioin of PDMS (polydimethyl-siloxane) which is a useful material of microfluidic devices is presented. PDMS-based devices can be fabricated by casting the polymer in a mold, but the porosity and the hydrophobicity of PDMS make difficult to use as bio-medical devices. To overcome these disadvantages, the PDMS surface is grafted with HEMA (2-Hydroxyethyle methacrylate) treatments and $O_2$ plasma process. The $O_2$ plasma process is performed for 20 sec after curing PDMS, and PDMS is put in the prepared HEMA without Monomethyle Ether Hydroquinone. Residual monomers and homopolymers of HEMA-treated PDMS surface are removed using soxhlet extractor. The PDMS surface modification using HEHA without Monomethyle Ether Hydroquinone is experimented, and compare to when additing $FeCl_2{\cdot}2H_2O$. A method with a soxhlet extractor compare to the existing rinse method. The hydrophilicity is confirmed by the measurement of a contact angle, and we observe whether the hydrophilicity is retained.

Waste tires are a significant problem with the increasing in number of automobiles. Therefore, many researches have been studied on this field. Recycling is the one of the popular method aspect to environmental and economical in the treatment methods of the waste tire, which loads that the reuse of scrap tire rubber has been a challenge in the past. However, it is not easy method to melt down and mold into new products because the in rubber is a cross-linked polymer. Most difficulty in recycling is the recycled product is not economic. Therefore, the goal of this study is to develop the high valuable products for reused waste tires. In this paper, we try to make an economic recycled technology using scrapped waste tires. This technology may applied for manufacturing the end products such as a rubber block and a ballast mat for high-speed train.
High-accuracy micropatterns such as V-shaped microgrooves are increasingly in demand for various engineering areas. And the technical trend goes for large surface areas in precision machining technology. So micropatterns with large surface areas are expected to play an increasingly important role in today's manufacturing technology In this study, we focused on developing machining technologies. First, a machine vision system for precise tool setting is developed. Second, an on-machine measurement (OMM) system for large-area measurement is implemented. And also software for tool path generation and simulation is developed. With these technologies we fabricated large-surface micropatterns in an electroless nickel-plated workpiece with single-crystal diamond tools and a 32-in, $675mm{\times}450mm$ mold with tens of V-and pyramid-shaped micropatterns.
