  • This paper presents the new method for removing impulse noise using wavelet. Time and frequency-localization capabilities in denoising can provide excellent specialties comparing with the existing methods, because of including detail information of signal. The method in this paper, using denoising by threshold and slope of signal by wavelet, has superior denoising effect and can recognize edge of original signal. For objective judgement, the test signals are used HeaviSine and DTMF and this paper simulated by test signals which have added to impulse noise of different site individually.

  • The spectrum of impulse response signal from an impulse hammer testing is widely used to obtain frequency response function(FRF) of the structure. However the FRFs obtained from impact hammer testing have not only leakage errors but also finite record length errors when the record length for the signal processing is not sufficiently long. The errors cannot be removed with the conventional signal analyzer which treats the signals as if they are always steady and periodic. (omitted)

  • Images are often corrupted by noises during signal acquisition and transmission. Among those noises, additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and impulse noise are most representative. For different types of noise have different characters, how to remove them separately from degraded image is one of the most fundamental problems. Thus, a modified image restoration algorithm is proposed in this paper, which can not only remove impulse noise of random values, but also remove the AWGN selectively. The noise detection step is by calculating the intensity difference and the spatial distance between pixels in a mask. To divide two different noises, the method is based on three weighted parameters. And the weighted parameters in the filtering mask depend on spatial distances, positions of impulse noise and standard deviation of AWGN. We also use the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) to evaluate restoration performance, and simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method performs better than conventional median-type filters, in preserving edge details.

  • The image signal is often affected by the existence of noise, noise can occur during image capture, transmission or processing phases. noises caused the degradation phenomenon and demage the original signal information. Many studies are being accomplished to restore those signals which corrupted by mixed noise. In this paper, we proposed mixed weighted filter for removing Gaussian and impulse noise. we first charge the noise type, then, Gaussian is removed by a weighted mean filter and impulse noise is removed by self-adaptive weighted median filter that can not only remove mixed noise but also preserve the details. And through the simulation, we compared with the conventional algorithms and indicated that proposed method significant improvement over many other existing algorithms and can preserve image details efficiently.

  • This paper introduces a technique for generating an appropriate template signal via modeling of minimum-phase stable ARMA (Auto-Regressive Moving Average) system for coherent impulse communication systems. It has been well known that the transmitted impulse signal becomes deformed because of dispersive and resonant characteristics. Accordingly, in spite of using ideal template signal at the correlator, these impairments degrade overall performance attributed to low level of coherence. To increase the degree of coherence, our proposed scheme realizes A3U system derived by Gaussian pulse signal, which simulates the overall characteristic of transfer function in between transmit and receive wideband antennas so as to generate an appropriate template signal in a form of output. The performance of proposed scheme will be shown in results from computer simulations to verify its affirmative impact on impulse communication system with regarding several distinctively shaped antennas.

  • Firmness is very important factor to evaluate the freshness and ripeness among the various factors, in concerning about the melon quality. This study was carried out to develop the technique using impact signal to measure the melon firmness nondestructively. Results of analyzing impulse signals of melons having different firmness levels showed that the firmness of melon affected various impulse responses including amplitude, transmitted time, maximum peak frequency, firmness index 1 ($f^2m$), and firmness index 2 ($f^2m^{2/3}$). Impulse signal amplitude was the best indicator to predict the firmness of melon because of a strong corelation ($R^2\;=\;0.9071$). Firmness index 1, firmness index 2, maximum peak frequency, and normalized transmitted time were also possible indicators with acceptable correlation values.

  • The spectrum of impulse response signal from an impulse hammer testing is widely used to obtain frequency response function (FRF) of the structure. However the FRFs obtained from impact hammer testing have not only leakage errors but also finite record length errors when the record length for the signal processing is not sufficiently long. The errors cannot be removed with the conventional signal analyzer which treats the signals as if they are always steady and periodic. Since the response signals generated by the impact hammer are transient and have damping, they are undoubtedly non-periodic. It is inevitable that the signals be acquired for limited recording time, which causes the finite record length error and the leakage error. In this paper, the errors in the frequency response function of multi degree of freedom system are formulated theoretically. And the method to remove these errors is also suggested. This method is based on the optimization technique. A numerical example of 3-dof model shows the validity of the proposed method.

  • In the process of image acquisition, transmission and storage, image degradation occurs due to various reason, the mainly reason is noise. To restore basic methods used images of impulse noise pollution by SM, AF, CWMF. In this paper, using the modified filter to remove impulse noise. The method consists of detection and noise filtering of the noise signal. For a non-noise signal is intact, the noise signal is filtered according to the algorithm. And then through the simulation is compared with known basic methods, with PSNR as judged by reference.

  • Evaluation of the acoustic nasal geometry is obtained by estimating impulse response due to the nasal geometry. Conventionally, the Wiener filtering method proposed by Hunt has been used for estimating impulse response. In this paper, we proposed the Weiner filtering method using noise-to-signal power ratio for estimating impulse response. In result, the proposed method in this paper is effective than the conventional method.

  • OFDM is popular digital communication method due to its immunity to multipath fading and capability of high speed data transmission, but it has disadvantage of high PAPR in transmission signal when many subcarrier modulated signal are added to the same phase. When frequency domain high amplitude impulse is inserted before IFFT in OFDM transmitter, the PAPR of OFDM signal in tme domain can be effectively reduced. In this paper, the degree of PAPR improvement of OFDM communication system with CQAM subcarrier modulation is analysed by adopting impulse insertion technique before IFFT of transmitter. Furthermore, it is verified that additional PAPR performance improvement can be obtained by finding optimum position of impulse insertion for maximizing PAPR reduction. Through computer simulation, the degree of PAPR improvement according to amplitude and position of inserted impulse is superior to conventional technique in OFDM-CQAM system.
