  • This research explores the domain of organic solar cells, a photovoltaic technology employing organic electronics, which encompasses small organic molecules and conductive polymers for efficient light absorption and charge transport, leading to electricity generation from sunlight. A computer simulation is employed to scrutinize resonance and dynamic stability in OSCs, with a focus on size effects introduced by nonlocal strain gradient theory, incorporating additional terms in the governing equations related to displacement and time. Initially, the Navier method serves as an analytical solver to delve into the dynamics of design points. The accuracy of this initial step is verified through a meticulous comparison with high-quality literature. The findings underscore the substantial impact of viscoelastic foundations, size-dependent parameters, and geometric factors on the stability and dynamic deflection of OSCs, with a noteworthy emphasis on the amplified influence of size-dependent parameters in higher values of the different layers' thicknesses.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the respiratory training system using individual characteristic guiding waveform to reduce the impact of respiratory motion that causes artifact in radiotherapy. In order to evaluate the improvement of respiratory regularity, 5 volunteers were included and their respiratory signals were acquired using the in-house developed belt-type sensor. Respiratory training system needs 10 free breathing cycles of each volunteer to make individual characteristic guiding waveform based on Fourier series and it guides patient's next breathing. For each volunteer, free breathing and guided breathing which uses individual characteristic guiding waveform were performed to acquire the respiratory cycles for 3 min. The root mean square error (RMSE) was computed to analyze improvement of respiratory regularity in period and displacement. It was found that respiratory regularity was improved by using respiratory training system. RMSE of guided breathing decreased up to 40% in displacement and 76% in period compared with free breathing. In conclusion, since the guiding waveform was easy to follow for the volunteers, the respiratory regularity was significantly improved by using in-house developed respiratory training system. So it would be helpful to improve accuracy and efficiency during 4D-RT, 4D-CT.

  • A simplified calculation method of natural vibration characteristics of high-speed railway multi-span bridge-longitudinal ballastless track system is proposed. The rail, track slab, base slab, main beam, bearing, pier, cap and pile foundation are taken into account, and the multi-span longitudinal ballastless track-beam-bearing-pier-cap-pile foundation integrated model (MBTIM) is established. The energy equation of each component of the MBTIM based on Timoshenko beam theory is constructed. Using the improved Fourier series, and the Rayleigh-Ritz method and Hamilton principle are combined to obtain the extremum of the total energy function. The simplified calculation formula of the natural vibration frequency of the MBTIM under the influence of vertical and longitudinal vibration is derived and verified by numerical methods. The influence law of the natural vibration frequency of the MBTIM is analyzed considering and not considering the participation of each component of the MBTIM, the damage of the track interlayer component and the stiffness change of each layer component. The results show that the error between the calculation results of the formula and the numerical method in this paper is less than 3%, which verifies the correctness of the method in this paper. The high-order frequency of the MBTIM is significantly affected considering the track, bridge pier, pile soil and pile cap, while considering the influence of pile cap on the low-order and high-order frequency of the MBTIM is large. The influence of component damage such as void beneath slab, mortar debonding and fastener failure on each order frequency of the MBTIM is basically the same, and the influence of component damage less than 10m on the first fourteen order frequency of the MBTIM is small. The bending stiffness of track slab and rail has no obvious influence on the natural frequency of the MBTIM, and the bending stiffness of main beam has influence on the natural frequency of the MBTIM. The bending stiffness of pier and base slab only has obvious influence on the high-order frequency of the MBTIM. The natural vibration characteristics of the MBTIM play an important guiding role in the safety analysis of high-speed train running, the damage detection of track-bridge structure and the seismic design of railway bridge.

  • In underwater signal processing, separating individual signals from mixed signals has long been a challenge due to low signal quality. The common method using Short-time Fourier transform for spectrogram analysis has faced criticism for its complex parameter optimization and loss of phase data. We propose a Triple-path Recurrent Neural Network, based on the Dual-path Recurrent Neural Network's success in long time series signal processing, to handle three-dimensional tensors from multi-channel sensor input signals. By dividing input signals into short chunks and creating a 3D tensor, the method accounts for relationships within and between chunks and channels, enabling local and global feature learning. The proposed technique demonstrates improved Root Mean Square Error and Scale Invariant Signal to Noise Ratio compared to the existing method.

  • This paper proposes a optimization of the design variables of linear motor for the improvement of thrust. Especially, this paper treats the shoe, which can be good to flow of a magnetic flux in linear motor. Firstly, this paper uses a space harmonic analysis method(SHAM) based on Fourier series, for analyzing the characteristics of core type linear motor, including slot structure and shoe. And compare the magnetic flux densities of linear motor at air gap with the results of the SHAM and the Finite Element Method(FEM). Secondly, this paper uses a genetic algorithm, which is good to find the global solutions. The design variables are the pole pitch of magnet, the pitch of slot, the height of slot, the width of shoe and the width of magnet. The maximum thrust with optimum design variables is about 247 N which is improved about 16%.

  • The linear hydrodynamic forces, acting on a forced oscillating cylinder from its mean position on a free surface with a small amplitude, are calculated in the time domain. The integral equation method using a time dependent Green function is employed. The numerical results for the heaving and swaying circular cylinder are shown and give good agreements with others Furthermore it is shown that the use of the Green function, which is expressed by a series expansion or asymptotic expansion according to time range, reduces computing time greatly.

  • Several improved quadrature polar separable (QPS) filters have been proposed and applied in texture processing since Knutsson proposed the QPS filter. They include a Knutsson's cosine function or oan exponential attenuation function, as the orientational function, and a Knutsson's exponential function or a finite prolate spheroidal sequence (FPSS) or an asymptotic FPSS, as the radial weighting functions. They represent different properties in terms of the generation of texture images, the orientational estimation, and the segmentation of synthetic texture image. In this paper, we have constructed several kernal functions for the 2-D QPS filter and analyzed their properties. A series of experiments have been carried out in order to estimate the frequency components and orientational angles of a local texture in Fourier domain. finally some problems encountered in applying QPS filters to feature description and segmentation are considered. Experimental results show that the improved Knutsson's filter and the asymptotic FPSS filter are useful in terms of the orientational estimation and the sementation of synthetic texture image.

  • This study extended the Lee et al.'s (2015a) solution which improved the existing analytical solution for prediction of the residual pore water pressure into progressive wave and flow coexisting field. At this time, the variation of incident wave period and wave length should be incorporated to Lee et al.'s (2015a) analytical solution, which does not consider flow. For the case of infinite thickness, the new analytical solution using Fourier series was compared to the analytical solution using Laplace transformation proposed by Jeng and Seymour (2007). It was verified that the new solution was identical to the Jeng and Seymour's solution. After verification of the new analytical solution, the residual pore water pressure head was examined closely under various given values of flow velocity's magnitude, direction, incident wave's period and seabed thickness. In each proposed analytical solution, asymptotic approach to shallow depth with the changes in the soil thickness within finite soil thickness was found possible, but not to infinite depth. It is also identified that there exists a discrepancy case between the results obtained from the finite and the infinite seabed thicknesses even on the same soil depth.

  • Herein, several multibeam forming methods that can be applied to microwave wireless power transmission are presented. Because the conventional multibeam forming methods do not consider an active element pattern(AEP), an intended beam shape will contain a steering angle error when applied to an actual system. To solve this problem, a method of considering the average of the AEP and a method of considering all the AEPs by the modified Fourier series method have been proposed. We confirmed that the proposed method reduces the error with the intended beam shape in the multibeam formation. In addition, for the side lobe level(SLL) and null control, a method of multibeam forming by applying the superposition principle to the Dolph-Tschebyscheff method is proposed. We also confirmed that SLL control can be simultaneously achieved with the multibeam formation.

  • An attempt was made to investigate the effect of the preparation temperature on the electrocapacitive performance of polypyrrole (PPY)/graphene oxide (GO) nanocomposites (PNCs). For this purpose, a series of PNCs were prepared at various temperatures by the cetyltrimethylammonium bromide-assisted dilute-solution polymerization of pyrrole in presence of GO (wt%) ranging from 1.0 to 4.0 with ferric chloride as an oxidant. The formation of the PNCs was ascertained through Fourier-transform infrared spectrometry, X-ray diffraction spectra, scanning electron microscopy and simultaneous thermogravimetric-differential scanning calorimetry. The electrocapacitive performance of the electrodes derived from sulphonated polysulphone-bound PNCs was evaluated through cyclic voltammetry with reference to Ag/AgCl at a scan rate (V/s) ranging from 0.2 and 0.001 in potassium hydroxide (1.0 M). The incorporation of GO into the PPY matrix at a reduced temperature has a pronounced effect on the electrocapacitive performance of PNCs. Under identical scan rates (0.001 V/s), PNCs prepared at $10{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ render improved specific conductivity (526.33 F/g) and power density (731.19 W/Kg) values compared to those prepared at $30{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ (217.69 F/g, 279.43 W/Kg). PNCs prepared at $10{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ rendered a capacitive retention rate of ~96% during the first 500 cycles. This indicates the excellent cyclic stability of the PNCs prepared at reduced temperatures for supercapacitor applications.
