In this study, we have compared with the differences between the extent of sampling disturbance and consolidation characteristics by experiments, which are consolidation test and have been performed with Kwang-Yang clay samples. The effects on sampling disturbance to consolidation characteristics of soft clay have been inverstigated by using soil samples obtained from large block sampling and piston sampling methods. Through a few experiments, we've got important results which are that the consoilidation parameter of large block sample(Pc, Cc, Cv) is much larger than the value of parameter of piston sample. We've also found the fact that the large block sample using the large size sampler is much better than piston sample in the quality of goods to lessen the effects on disturbance of sampling. When compared to the parameter of consolidation along with the methods of experiment, we found that the result performed by large size consolidation test is the greatest one and CRS is much better than standard consolidation test to seek for proper parameter.

In this research, a novel sampling strategy for a CMM to inspect freeform surfaces is proposed. Unlike primitive surfaces, it is not easy to determine the number of sampling points and their locations for inspecting freeform surfaces. Since a CMM operates with slower speed in measurement than optical measuring devices, it is important to optimize the number and the locations of sampling points in the inspection process. When a complete inspection of a surface is required, it becomes more critical. Among various factors to cause shape errors of a final product, curvature characteristic is essential due to its effect such as stair-step errors in rapid prototyping and interpolation errors in NC tool paths generation. Shape errors are defined in terms of the average and standard deviation of differences between an original model and a produced part. Proposed algorithms determine the locations of sampling points by analyzing curvature distribution of a given surface. Based on the curvature distribution, a surface area is divided into several sub-areas. In each sub-area, sampling points are located as further as possible. The optimal number of sub-areas. In each sub-area, sampling points are located as further as possible. The optimal number os sub-areas is determined by estimating the average of curvatures. Finally, the proposed method is applied to several surfaces that have shape errors for verification.
As a result of the advantages such as high efficiency, continuous current and high stability margin, push-pull converter with continuous current (PPCWCC) is competitive for battery discharge regulator (BDR) which plays an important role in power conditioning unit (PCU). Leakage inductance yields current spike in low-ripple current of PPCWCCs. The operating modes are added due to leakage inductance. Therefore the steady state performance is affected, which is embodied in the spike of low-ripple current. PPCWCCs which are suitable for BDR can be separated into three types by current spike characteristics. Three representative topologies IIs1, IIcb2 and Is3 are analyzed in order to investigate the factors on the magnitude and duration of spike. Equivalent current sampling method (ECSM) which eliminates the sampling time delay and achieves excellent dynamic performance is adopted to prevent the spike disturbance on current sampling. However, ECSM reduces the sampling accuracy and telemetry accuracy due to neglecting the spike. In this paper, ECSM used in PPCWCCs is summarized. The current sampling error is analyzed in quality and quantity, which provides the foundation for offsetting and enhancing the telemetry accuracy. Finally, current sampling error rate of three topologies is compared by experiment results, which verify the theoretical analysis.

Even though a systematic sampling approach is very crucial in both the general and detailed investigation phases to produce the best conceptual site model for contaminated sites, the concept is not yet established in South Korea. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued the 'Strategic Sampling Approaches Technical guide' in 2018 to help environmental professionals choose which sampling approaches may be needed and most effective for given site conditions. The EPA guide broadly defines strategic sampling as the application of focused data collection across targeted areas of the conceptual site model (CSM) to provide the appropriate amount and type of information needed for decision-making. These strategic sampling approaches can prevent the essential data from missing, minimize the uncertainty of projects and secure the data which are necessary for the important site-decisions. Furthermore, these provide collaborative data sets through the life cycle phases of projects, which can generate more positive proofs on the site-decisions. The strategic sampling approaches can be divided by site conditions. This technical guide categorized it into eight conditions; High-resolution site characterization in unconsolidated environments, High-resolution site characterization in fractured sedimentary rock environments, Incremental sampling, Contaminant source definition, Passive groundwater sampling, Passive sampling for surface water and sediment, Groundwater to surface water interaction, and Vapor intrusion. This commentary paper introduces specific sampling methods based on site conditions when the strategic sampling approaches are applied.
Sampling rate conversion widely used in subband coding, A/D and D/A transitions etc. is an important techniques. Nyquist filters and the filter banks have been used far the sampling converter. However, they need many memories and, whenever the sampling rate is changed it is necessary to redesign filters. Then we propose design method of the new interpolation kernel. Design method of the new interpolation kernel is approximated each piecewise of lowpass filter by n th polynomials. The proposed kernel is not redesigned, whenever the sampling rate is changed. The proposed kernel is a continuous function, the sampling rate of the rational number can be converted.

Particle contamination in a hard disk drive has been recognized as an important issue because particles can significantly affect the reliability of the drive. In this study, characteristics of the particle generation in a hard disk drive during the start/stop period were investigated. The number of particles generated in the drive was measured at 5 locations by using condensation nucleus counters(CNC) with sampling probes. It was found that most of particles were generated whenever the drive started or stopped. The number of particles detected by the condensation nucleus counter depended on sampling parameters including sampling location, shape of sampling probe, and sampling velocity.

Sampling techniques is very important in digital elevation model. There are scanning and digitizing method of sampling techniques. This study is limited in digitizing method. Continous sampling method use contour lines as same entity and grid method is a direct reading of sample elevation in each grid. Triangulated irregular method is needed to identity topographical lines to sample elevation data. As a results, authors know that continous sampling method has economic in input system and triangulated irregular method has a small memory size.

Tire's performance plays important roles in improving vehicle's performances. Tire makers carry out a lot of research to improve tire's performance. They are making effort to meet multi purposes using various optimization methods. Recently, the tire makers perform the shape optimization using approximation models, which are surrogate models obtained by statistical method. Generally, the reason why we increase sampling points during optimization process, is to get more reliable approximation models, but the more we adopt sampling points, the more we need time to test. So it is important to select approximation model and proper number of sampling points to balance between reliability and time consuming. In this research, we studied to compare two kind cases for a approximation construction. First, we compare RSM and Kriging which are Curve Fitting Method and Interpolation Method, respectively. Second, we construct approximation models using three different number of sampling points. And then, we recommend proper approximation model and orthogonal array adopt tire's design optimization.
Sampling based uncertainty analysis was carried out to quantify uncertainty in predictions of best estimate code RELAP5/MOD3.2 for a thermal hydraulic test (10% hot leg break LOCA) performed in the Large Scale Test Facility (LSTF) as a part of an IAEA coordinated research project. The nodalisation of the test facility was qualified for both steady state and transient level by systematically applying the procedures led by uncertainty methodology based on accuracy extrapolation (UMAE); uncertainty analysis was carried out using the Latin hypercube sampling (LHS) method to evaluate uncertainty for ten input parameters. Sixteen output parameters were selected for uncertainty evaluation and uncertainty band between $5^{th}$ and $95^{th}$ percentile of the output parameters were evaluated. It was observed that the uncertainty band for the primary pressure during two phase blowdown is larger than that of the remaining period. Similarly, a larger uncertainty band is observed relating to accumulator injection flow during reflood phase. Importance analysis was also carried out and standard rank regression coefficients were computed to quantify the effect of each individual input parameter on output parameters. It was observed that the break discharge coefficient is the most important uncertain parameter relating to the prediction of all the primary side parameters and that the steam generator (SG) relief pressure setting is the most important parameter in predicting the SG secondary pressure.
Time-selective self-triggering water sampler, AUTTLE developed by Jin et al. (1999) has been improved in order to prevent pre-deposition of suspended sediments (SS) before sampling. By using two solenoids, the improved sampler is able to be moored or deployed with inclination. Its position is changed to horizontal position by activating the first solenoid, and then the endcaps of the sampling bottle are closed by the second solenoid that is driven three times to minimize possible failure of sampling. An external control unit for setting sampling time has been also constructed. Additionally, the electric circuit housing of the sampler has been modified to be detached from the sampling bottle when operating manually. Its performance has been confirmed through flume tests and a field experiment. It will serve as a valuable tool in the various fields of oceanography and environmental engineering, especially where seawater sampling synchronized at several sites and/or the information in storm period is important.
