The Effect of Angelica gigas Nakai on Immune Enhancement in Cyclophosphamide-induced Immune-suppressed Mice

  • Natural products are important sources for drug development because they have a wide variety of useful biological properties. Angelica gigas Nakai (AGN) has been used as an herbal medicine. The present study was designed to evaluate the immune-enhancing effect of AGN in the cyclophosphamide (CP) induced immune-suppressed mice. As the result, we found that CP induced the reductions of body ratio, spleen weights, hematopoietic parameter and cytokine productions in mice. However, AGN recovered immunosuppression-mediated decreased body ratio, spleen and thymus weights as well as regulation of hematopoietic parameter including white blood cell, lymphocyte, and neutrophil. According to histological study, AGN regenerated on CP-mediated injured spleen. Moreover, AGN increased the CP-induced reduction of cytokine expression in spleen tissue. Collectively, the findings provide experimental evidence that AGN may be a candidate for health-improving herbs.

  • In this paper, we propose a method of cooperative control (T-cell modeling) and selection of group behavior strategy (B-cell modeling) based on immune system in distributed autonomous robotic system (DARS). An immune system is the living bodys self-protection and self-maintenance system. these features can be applied to decision making of the optimal swarm behavior in a dynamically changing environment. For applying immune system to DARS, a robot is regarded as a B-cell, each environmental condition as an antigen, a behavior strategy as an antibody, and control parameter as a T-cell, respectively. When the environmental condition (antigen) changes, a robot selects an appropriate behavior strategy (antibody). And its behavior strategy is stimulated and suppressed by other robots using communication (immune network). Finally, much stimulated strategy is adopted as a swarm behavior strategy. This control scheme is based on clonal selection and immune network hypothesis, and it is used for decision making of the optimal swarm strategy. Adaptation ability of the robot is enhanced by adding T-cell model as a control parameter in dynamic environments.

  • In the thermal power plant, the main steam temperature is typically regulated by the fuel flow rate and the spray flow rate, and the reheater steam temperature is regulated by the gas recirculation flow rate. However, Strictly maintaining the steam temperature can be difficult due to heating value variation to the fuel source, time delay changes in the main steam temperature, the change of the dynamic characteristics in the reheater. Up to the present time, PID Controller has been used to operate this system. However, it is very difficult to achieve an optimal PID gain with no experience, since the gain of the PID controller has to be manually tuned by trial and error. This paper focuses on tuning of the 2-DOF PID Controller on the DCS for steam temperature control using immune based multiobjective approach. The stable range of a 2-DOF parameter for only this system could be found for the start-up procedure and this parameter could be used for the tuning problem. Therefore tuning technique of multiobjective based on immune network algorithms in this paper can be used effectively in tuning 2-DOF PID controllers.

Optimal nonlinear Parameter Estimation of Steady-State Induction Motor using Immune Algorithm

  • This paper suggests the techniques in determining the values of the steady-state equivalent circuit parameters of a three-phase squirrel-cage induction machine using immune algorithm. The parameter estimation procedure is based on the steady state phase current versus slip and input power versus slip characteristics. The proposed estimation algorithm is of a nonlinear kind based on clonal selection in immune algorithm. The machine parameters are obtained as the solution of a minimization of least-squares cost function by immune algorithm. Simulation shows better results than the conventional approaches.

  • By using image recognition technology, this paper presents a new fault diagnosis method for rotating machinery with artificial immune algorithm. This method focuses on the vibration state parameter image. The main contribution of this paper is as follows: firstly, 3-D spectrum is created with raw vibrating signals. Secondly, feature information in the state parameter image of rotating machinery is extracted by using Wavelet Packet transformation. Finally, artificial immune algorithm is adopted to diagnose rotating machinery fault. On the modeling of 600MW turbine experimental bench, rotor's normal rate, fault of unbalance, misalignment and bearing pedestal looseness are being examined. It's demonstrated from the diagnosis example of rotating machinery that the proposed method can improve the accuracy rate and diagnosis system robust quality effectively.

  • The proposed immune algorithm has an uncomplicated structure and memory-cell mechanism as the optimization algorithm which imitates the principle of humoral immune response, and has been used as methods to solve parameter optimization problems. Up to now, the applications of immune algorithm have been optimization problems with non-varying system parameters. Therefore, the effect of memory-cell mechanism, which is a merit of immune algorithm, is without. this paper proposes the immune algorithm using a memory-cell mechanism which can be the application of system with nonlinear varying parameters. To verified performance of the proposed immune algorithm, the speed control of nonlinear DC motor are performed. Computer simulation studies show that the proposed immune algorithm has a fast convergence speed and a good control performances under the varying system parameters.

  • Four technical grade organophosphate pesticides (Fenitrothion, Fenthion, Dizninon and EPN) were investigated for their effects on the murine immune function. Among the immunotoxicological assay parameters of NIEHS, humoral immune parameter and pathotoxicological indicators were examined in this study. Subchronic exposure of rodents to these pesticides resulted in marked suppression of humoral immune function and moderate histological changes of lymphoid organ any significant alterations of clinical status.

  • PID controllers with constant gains have been widely used in various control systems due to its powerful performance and easy implementation. But it is difficult to have uniformly good control performance in all operating conditions. In this paper, we propose a nonlinear variable PR controller with immune feedback mechanism. An immune feedback mechanism is based on the functioning of biological T-cells, they include both an active term, which controls response speed. and an inhibitive term, which controls stabilization effect. Therefore, the proposed nonlinear PID controller is based on immune responses of biological. immune feedback mechanism which is the cell mediated immunity and In order to choose the optimal nonlinear PID controller games, we also propose the tuning algorithm of nonlinear function parameter in immune feedback mechanism. To verify performance of the proposed algorithm, the speed control of nonlinear DC motor are performed. Front the simulation results, we have found that the proposed algorithm is more superior to the conventional constant fain PID controller.
