Operation optimization of auxiliary electric boiler system in HTR-PM nuclear power plant

  • Electric boilers (EBs) are the backup steam source for the auxiliary steam system of high-temperature gas-cooled reactor nuclear power plants. When the plant is in normal operations, the EB is always in hot standby status. However, the current hot standby operation strategy has problems of slow response, high power consumption, and long operation time. To solve these problems, this study focuses on the optimization of hot standby operations for the EB system. First, mathematical models of an electrode immersion EB and its accompanying deaerator were established. Then, a control simulation platform of the EB system was developed in MATLAB/Simulink implementing the established mathematical models and corresponding control systems. Finally, two optimization strategies for the EB hot standby operation were proposed, followed by dynamic simulations of the EB system transient from hot standby to normal operations. The results indicate that the proposed optimization strategies can significantly speed up the transient response of the EB system from hot standby to normal operations and reduce the power consumption in hot standby operations, improving the dynamic performance and economy of the system.

  • Along with a variety of coding education, physical computing education for controlling various sensors is being actively conducted for elementary, middle, and high school students in line with the era of the fourth industrial revolution. A problem with physical computing education using Arduino is pin connection errors between Arduino and various sensors. Most of the students who come into contact with the Arduino for the first time often do not know the purpose of the Arduino pin and the connection position of the pin. Also, hardware built with incorrect pin connections to the Arduino board often does not work properly. If this case continues, students will lose interest in coding education. Therefore, in this paper, we implemented an augmented reality application that informs the connection process of the Arduino board and the sensor during physical computing coding education using Arduino, and designed and implemented educational content for the Arduino pin position and connection process. First, we explain the role of the Arduino board and the sensor and the location of the pins. After that, the students run the educational augmented reality educational content using their smartphones and check the correct pin connection process between the Arduino and the sensor. In the physical computing education, augmented reality content is used to increase the understanding and immersion of the class. It is expected that the educational effect will also increase by inducing fun and interest in physical computing coding education.

  • 본 연구는 <우연히 웨스 엔더슨(Accidentally Wes Anderson, 이하 AWA)> 전시의 인스타그래머블 특성과 관람 경험을 실증적으로 접근하기 위해 경험 품질, 인지된 가치, 이용 태도, 지속적 행동적 이용 의사 등의 변인을 중심으로 연구 모형과 가설을 설정했다. 인지된 가치의 관점에서 상기 전시의 인스타그래머블적 특성은 강했지만, 경험 품질 측면에서 전시는 유희적이기 보다는 심미적이거나 치유적 특성이 높게 나타났다. 상술한 인지된 가치는 전시만족도 및 전시몰입도와 상관관계를 가졌지만, 행동적 이용의사에는 영향을 미치지 못했다. 또한 전시만족도는 전시몰입도, 관람소요시간, 인스타그램에 사진 게시 및 공유 의사의 증가에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다.

초등 6학년을 위한 교육용 AR 과학실험 애플리케이션 설계 (A Design of AR Science Experiment Application for Education of 6th graders)

  • 본 논문은 수업 시간에 AR 과학 실험을 활용함으로써 실험 교육의 어려움을 해소하고, 안전사고를 방지하며, 다자간 경험을 통해 몰입도를 극대화하여 능동적 참여를 끌어내는이끌어 내는 것에 목적이 있다. 현재 개발된 교육용 실감형 콘텐츠의 문제는 (1) 수업에서 실질적으로 활용할 수 있는 탐구형 콘텐츠가 없는 문제, (2) 대부분의 애플리케이션이 일회성 콘텐츠로 끝나는 문제, (3) 교사와 학생 간의 상호작용이 불가능한 문제가 있었다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 교육과정에 따른 AR 실험을 개발한다. 교사가 학생을 관리할 수 있는 기능을 통해 교사와 학생이 함께 사용할 수 있도록 개발한다.

Slip-resistant bolted connections under freeze-thaw cycles and low temperature

  • There are many examples of steel structures subjected to severe environmental conditions with bolted connections directly exposed to extreme climatic agents such as freeze-thaw cycles or low temperatures. Some examples are: steel bridges, mining transfer towers, wind towers... These service conditions neither are included in Eurocode 3 or EN1090-2, nor there are references in other international standards. In this experimental research, 46 specimens of non-slip joints with HV M20 bolts and four different types of contact surfaces have been studied. Half of the specimens were subjected to fourteen twelve-hours freeze-thaw cycles, with periodic immersion in water and temperature oscillation. Subsequently, half of the connections were subjected to a slip test under monotonic load at temperature of -20 ± 0.5 ℃ and the other half at room temperature. The results were compared with others equal joints not subjected to freeze-thaw cycles and kept at room temperature for the same time. This finally resulted in 4 sets of joints by combining the freeze-thaw degradation or not with the low-temperature conditions or not in the slip testing. Therefore, a total of 16 different conditions were studied by also considering 4 different contact surfaces between the joined plates in each set. The results obtained show influence of environmental conditions on the slip resistant capacity of these joints.

대면 및 비대면 프로그래밍 수업의 학생 인식에 관한 연구 (A Study on Student Perceptions of Face-to-face and Non-face-to-face Programming Classes)

  • 펜데믹 시대가 도래하면서 비대면 수업이 실시되고 있으며, 많은 교과에서 비대면 수업의 효과에 대한 연구도 많이 진행되고 있다. 특히, 프로그래밍 수업은 지식 전달과 실습을 겸하는 특성을 가진 과목으로 비대면 수업의 경우에 학생들의 인식면에서 어떤 특성을 보여주는지 알아보기 위하여 비대면 수업과 대면 수업을 각각 실시한 후에 학생들에게 설문 조사하였다. 수업에서의 질문과 응답 용이성, 수업 내용의 이해 및 수업에의 몰입에서는 전통적인 대면 수업이 좋다고 응답한 학생수가 많았으며, 실습 시간 확보 및 수업 제어 면에서는 비대면 수업이 좋다고 응답한 학생수가 많았다. 이와 같은 연구 결과를 활용하면 효과적인 프로그래밍 수업을 계획하는데 도움이 될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • 최근 코로나19로 인한 사회 환경의 급변화로 인하여 비대면/비접촉 기반 정보 교환 기술의 필요성이 급속도로 대두되고 있다. 이러한 변화들로 인해 몰입감, 임장감을 이용한 대안시스템의 개발이 절실히 요구되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 화상회의 시스템을 구현하기 위해 대용량 3차원 데이터를 지연 없이 실시간으로 전송하기 위한 기술을 구현하였다. 이를 위해 비지도학습 계열의 최신 딥러닝 알고리즘인 GAN의 응용알고리즘을 활용하였다.

국내 재난 안전 가상훈련 콘텐츠 사례분석을 통한 개선방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on Improvement Plans through Case Analysis of Domestic Disaster Safety Virtual Training Contents)

  • 안전 불감증으로 인해 많은 인재가 발생하고 있는 우리나라 상황에서는 재난이 발생했을 때 대응할 수 있는 재난 안전교육이 매우 중요하다. 최근 가상현실 디바이스 및 제작 기술이 발전하며, 안전교육 분야에서 가상현실 기술을 접목한 훈련시스템 활용의 가능성이 주목받고 있다. 가상훈련시스템은 몰입감이 뛰어나고 시공간의 제약없이 다양한 재난상황을 체험할 수 있어 훈련 및 교육에 매우 효과적이다. 본 연구에서는 우리나라 재난 안전 가상훈련 콘텐츠 사례들을 수집 조사하여 국내 재난안전 가상훈련 콘텐츠의 현황을 파악하고 분석하여 문제점을 도출하고 이에 대한 개선방안을 제안한다.

Using Gamification Development of Sex Education Program (Ethical Perspective) for Youth

  • Purpose: To prevent and respond to youth sexual problems that are becoming more serious with digital development, this study sought to develop a sex education program that applies gamification as an effective method for youth who are digital natives. Research design, data and methodology: To develop a sex education program for teenagers, elements of gamification were considered based on Dick and Kerry's teaching system design model. The learning content reflected UNESCO's 'Comprehensive Sex Education Guidelines'. In addition, it was designed to enable students to learn about ethics and morals from a social and emotional aspect. Results: A four-session distance learning sex education program was developed for first-year high school students. To learn about gender sensitivity, sexual relationships, sexuality, and healthy sexual behavior, we developed a story that reflects the mission and quest for sex education. It included leaderboards, time limits, and levels, and also utilized mechanics such as points and items. Edutech tools include video content, Google Sheets, Zoom, Padlet, and Mentimeter. Conclusions: This study aims to improve learning effectiveness, satisfaction, and immersion by developing a sex education program for youth using gamification that promotes active learner participation and motivation.

Characterizations of Precipitated Zinc Powder Produced by Selective Leaching Method

  • This work investigated the influence of concentration and applied potential on the characteristics of zinc powder (purity, apparent density, morphology, particle size distribution, and particle zeta potential) produced by the electrochemical process from waste brass. High-purity zinc powder is obtained using selective leaching of industrial brass waste in acidic, neutral, and alkaline solutions. The free immersion method with and without voltage using linear polarization technique is used. In the electrochemical process, hydrochloric acid HCl in three different concentrations (0.1, 0.2, and 0.3) M is used. The time and the distance between the electrodes are set to be 30 min and 3 cm, respectively. It has been found that the percentage purity is 98%, 96%, and 94% for the acidic, neutral, and alkaline solutions, respectively. In addition, the morphology of zinc powder analyzed by SEM was dendritic and mossy. It has been recorded that the purity of zinc increases with the increase of the concentration and applied potential. The highest value of purity for zinc powder was %98.58 in 1000 mV and 0.3M concentration for graphite cathode.
