  • The objective of this paper is to propose the image interpolation method with pseudomedian filter for Field warping and morphing, and to evaluate and analyze its subjective image quality. The Field warping relatively gives rise to more computing overhead, but it can use the control line to control the warping result with more elaboration. Due to the working characteristics of the image warping and morphing process, various complex geometrical transformations occur and a image interpolation technique is needed to effectively process them. Of the various interpolation techniques, bilinear interpolation which shows above average performance is the most widely used. However, this technology has its limits in the reconstructivity of diagonal edges. The proposed interpolation method is to efficiently combine the bilinear interpolation and the pseudomedian filter-based interpolation which shows good performance in the reconstructivity of diagonal edges. According to the proposed interpolation method, we could get more natural warping and morphing results than other interpolation methods.

  • In many imaging devices, a single image sensor is used, which is covered by a color filter array to filter out the specific color components from light. Since an image acquired from this image sensors have a color components at each pixel, it is needed to be reconstructed to a perfect image. In this paper, a new color interpolation method for the imaging devices having a single image sensor is proposed. The proposed method improves a edge sensing function to obtain satisfactory results in edges of an image, md presents a new inter-channel correlation for improving interpolation performance in smooth region. We have compared our method with several exiting methods, and our experimental results have proved better interpolation performance in comparing with the other results.

  • In this paper, we propose an image reconstruction method utilizing an optimized adaptive interpolation kernel along with a 2D M-channel perfect reconstruction filter bank (M-ch PR-FB) structure. In particular, the proposed approach leads to construction of a sharper image than a direct conversion, still preserving high frequency components of the original image through the subband processing of the 2D M-ch PR-FB. Finally, the image quality of the proposed approach is demonstrated by comparing with those of the direct methods using conventional interpolation kernels.

  • Various image interpolation methods have been proposed to increase the resolution of images and accuracy of motion estimation of video, and the interpolation filters are used in H.264/AVC and HEVC standards. In this paper, we propose an efficient image interpolation method using lapped transforms. The relation between the resizing and interpolation of images is used in the proposed method, and the complexity is significantly reduced, while the performance of the proposed method is almost the same as conventional methods.

  • Interpolation schemes are used widely in image magnification. Magnified image generated by interpolation scheme is composed of the known pixels in input image and the interpolated pixels estimated from the known pixels in input image. So, as the interpolated pixels are estimated to have locality which exists in real images, the magnified image is much closer to the real image. In this paper, an efficient interpolation scheme was proposed to provide locality for the interpolated pixels by using the characteristics of adjacent pixels in input image. The quality of magnified image using the proposed scheme was improved. In experiment, PSNR(Peak Signal to Noise Ratio) was used to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme. The PSNR's of the magnified images generated by the proposed scheme were greater than those of the magnified images generated by the previous interpolation methods.

  • Image resolution improvement is commonly technique for applications such as image reconstruction or enlargement. It is important to remove image quality degradation such as blocking effect or artificiality occurrence. In this paper, we propose image resolution improvement method using loss information of image. The proposed compute and estimate by low level interpolation of obtained low resolution image, it is applied by interpolated high resolution as 1-stage interpolation. We generate last interpolation image by iteration of error computation and application between obtained low resolution image and 1-stage interpolation image. By experiments using same test images, we confirmed improvement over 3.2dB of average PSNR and enhancement of subject image quality. Also, we can reduce more than 85% computation complexity. The proposed image resolution improvement method may be helpful for various applications of image processing.

  • In this paper, a quality improvement scheme is proposed for magnified image using the various curved surface characteristics of image. After testing horizontal and vertical directional surface characteristics of source image, interpolation value is calculated to have the surface characteristics such as simple convex surface, simple concave surface, and compound surface. The calculated interpolation value become the value of the interpolated pixel of magnified image. The calculated interpolation value is closer to the pixel value of real image. So, the quality of the magnified image is improved. The PSNR value of the magnified image using the proposed scheme is larger than the PSNR values of the magnified image using the existing techniques.

  • In this paper, we propose a new performance comparison method of various Interpolation methods for image enlargement The conventional methods employs PSNR and edge characteristic evaluation for performance comparison of interpolation methods. The proposed performance comparison method uses the position Information for each difference pixel's value and the frequency characteristic information between original image and Interpolated image. The proposed methods might be useful for performance comparison of various Interpolation methods through the computer simulation.

  • In this paper, we present a new interpolation scheme for image enhancement using fuzzy inference. In general, interpolation techniques are based on linear operators which are essentially lowpass filters, hence, they tend to blur fine details in the original image. In our approach, the operator itself balances the strength of its sharpening and noise suppressing components according to the properties of the input image data.

  • In this paper, a method for measuring image pattern widths is proposed using gaussian interpolation, in order to improve inconsistent results coming from the different directions in image patterns. The performance of our method is evaluated using image patterns with 9 directions, and compared with previous methods. It is confirmed that the proposed method gives accurate and consistent width results regardless of pattern directions.
