The block matching algorithm motion estimation is a soft-core for hardwired motion estimation block in MPEG-2, H.261 encoder. This motion estimation has been tested and verified to be valid for implementation of FPGA. Efficiency performance of the synthesized motion estimation was up to 89%, and the average PSNR between the original image and the motion-compensated image is 38dB.

An image interpolation is a basis technique for various image processing and is required to minimize approaches for image quality deterioration. In this paper, we propose an improved bilinear interpolation using loss information estimation. In the proposed algorithm, we estimate loss information of low resolution image using down-sampling and interpolation of acquisition low resolution. The estimated loss information is utilized interpolated image, and it decrease image quality deterioration. Our experiments obtained the average PSNR 0.97~1.79dB which is improved results better than conventional method for sensitive image quality. Also, subjective image quality with edge region is more clearness. The proposed method may be helpful for applications in various multimedia systems such as image resolution enhancement and image restoration.
Despite the significant progress in camera pose estimation and structure-from-motion reconstruction from unstructured images, methods that exploit a priori information on camera arrangements have been overlooked. Conventional state-of-the-art methods do not exploit the geometric structure to recover accurate camera poses from a set of patch images in an array for mosaic-based imaging that creates a wide field-of-view image by sewing together a collection of regular images. We propose a camera pose estimation framework that exploits the array-structured image settings in each incremental reconstruction step. It consists of the two-way registration, the 3D point outlier elimination and the bundle adjustment with a constraint term for consistent rotation vectors to reduce reprojection errors during optimization. We demonstrate that by using individual images' connected structures at different camera pose estimation steps, we can estimate camera poses more accurately from all structured mosaic-based image sets, including omnidirectional scenes.
This paper presents a simple method of rotational and translational motion estimation for digital image stabilization. The scheme first computes the rotation center by taking least squares of selected local velocity vectors, and the rotational angle is found from special subset of motion vectors. And then translational motion can be estimated by the relation among movement of rotation center, rotation angle and translation movement. To show the effectiveness of our approach, the synthetic images are evaluated, resulting in better performance.
This paper propose a target tracker using phase correlation. The tracker consist of a pre-processing module, a translation estimation module based on phase correlation, a fine motion estimation module applied when confidence rate could not fulfill a threshold value and a reference image update module. The fine motion estimation module measure the shift, rotation and scale of input image compared to reference using Fourier-Mellin transform. Proposed tracker was tested its accuracy and robustness using some real indoor and outdoor image sequences.
The correspondence problem for stereo image matching plays an important role in expanding view points as multi view video applications become more popular. The conventional disparity estimation algorithms have limitation to find exact disparities because they consider not image features but similiar intensity points. Thus we propose an efficient disparity estimation algorithm considering features of stereo image pairs. As simulation results, our proposed method confirms better intermediate views than the existing block-matching methods.

In video coding standard H.264/AVC, motion estimation using multiple reference pictures improves compression efficiency but the efficiency depends upon image content not the number of reference pictures. So, the motion estimation includes a large amount of computation of no worth according to image. This paper proposes fast motion estimation algorithm that removes worthless computation in the motion estimation using multiple reference pictures. The proposed algorithm classifies a block into valid and invalid blocks for the multiple reference pictures and removes the workless computation by applying a single reference picture to the invalid block. To estimate the proposed algorithm's performance, image quality, bit rate, and motion estimation time are compared with ones of the conventional algorithm in the reference software JM 9.5. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can considerably save about 38.67% the averaged motion estimation time while keeping the image quality and the bit rate, whose are average values are -0.02dB and -0.77% respectively, as good as the conventional algorithm.
This paper presents an efficient fast motion estimation algorithm and image segmentation method for low bit-rate coding. First, with region split information, the algorithm splits the image having homogeneous and semantic regions like face and semantic regions in image. Then, in these regions, We find the motion vector using adaptive search window adjustment. Additionally, with this new segment based fast motion estimation, we reduce blocking artifacts by intensively coding our interesting region(face or arm) in input image. The simulation results show the improvement in coding performance and image quality.

Recently as color image processing to be become independent have been desired at the light source in an image processing and it have been enlarged. An image processing of the light source which is become independent means an image processing which uses a spectral reflectance information. We improved it in the spectral reflectance estimation method which uses existing 3-band image in this research that the improvement of an identity color population generation method which uses the hue angle and the processing speed improvement and introduces a labelling method. The precision of a spectral reflectance estimation appeared to the ${\Delta}E^*_{ab}$ of an average 2.7 comparing with the measurement price. The practical use possibility came to be fast and appeared a processing speed compared with existing method.

In this paper we describe the 6-axes robot's position determination using a stereo vision and an image based control method. When use a stereo vision, it need a additional time to compare with mono vision system. So to reduce the time required, we use the stereo vision not image Jacobian matrix estimation but depth estimation. Image based control is not needed the high-precision of camera calibration by using a image Jacobian. The experiment is executed as devide by two part. The first is depth estimation by stereo vision and the second is robot manipulator's positioning.
