전역통과 시스템에 대한 Deconvolution 필터링 기법 (Deconvolution Filtering Method for All-pass Systems)

  • 본 논문에서는 FIR 근사를 기반으로한 전역통과 시스템에 대한 deconvolution 필터링 기법을 제안한다. 제안한 기법은 안정한 non-causal deconvolution 필터를 FIR 근사에 의해 안정한 causal deconvolution 필터로 변환시키는 것이다. 본 논문에서 보인바와 같이 전역통과시스템에 대한 deconvolution 필터의 임펄스 응답은 전역통과 시스템 자체의 임펄스 응답의 거울 영상(mirror image) 임을 알 수 있다. 이와 같이 전역통과 시스템에 대한 임펄스 응답과 그 시스템의 deconvolution 필터에 대한 임펄스 응답의 대칭성 때문에, 제안한 기법은 전역 통과 필터의 차수에 상관없이 동일하게 적용할 수 있다. 제안한 기법의 성능을 보이기 위하여 1차, 2차 및 400차의 전역통과 시스템에 대한 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션 결과를 포함한다.

  • The image restoration algorithm for microwave imaging radiometer is proposed. A blind deconvolution method was proposed. A point spread function was identified and three deconvolution schemes were employed, Wiener filtering, Lucy- Richardson deconvolution, and Maximum Likelihood blind deconvolution. The experimental data is illustrated with restored image.

Immediate solution of EM algorithm for non-blind image deconvolution

  • Due to the uniquely slow convergence speed of the EM algorithm, it suffers form a lot of processing time until the desired deconvolution image is obtained when the image is large. To cope with the problem, in this paper, an immediate solution of the EM algorithm is provided under the Gaussian image model. It is derived by finding the recurrent formular of the EM algorithm and then substituting the results repeatedly. In this paper, two types of immediate soultion of image deconboution by EM algorithm are provided, and both methods have been shown to work well. It is expected that it free the processing time of image deconvolution because it no longer requires an iterative process. Based on this, we can find the statistical properties of the restored image at specific iterates. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method through a simple experiment, and discuss future concerns.

Investigation of a blind-deconvolution framework after noise reduction using a gamma camera in nuclear medicine imaging

  • A gamma camera system using radionuclide has a functional imaging technique and is frequently used in the field of nuclear medicine. In the gamma camera, it is extremely important to improve the image quality to ensure accurate detection of diseases. In this study, we designed a blind-deconvolution framework after a noise-reduction algorithm based on a non-local mean, which has been shown to outperform conventional methodologies with regard to the gamma camera system. For this purpose, we performed a simulation using the Monte Carlo method and conducted an experiment. The image performance was evaluated by visual assessment and according to the intensity profile, and a quantitative evaluation using a normalized noise-power spectrum was performed on the acquired image and the blind-deconvolution image after noise reduction. The result indicates an improvement in image performance for gamma camera images when our proposed algorithm is used.

흉부 컴퓨터단층촬영 영상에서 블라인드 디컨볼루션 알고리즘 최적화 방법에 대한 연구 (Analysis on Optimal Approach of Blind Deconvolution Algorithm in Chest CT Imaging)

  • The main purpose of this work was to restore the blurry chest CT images by applying a blind deconvolution algorithm. In general, image restoration is the procedure of improving the degraded image to get the true or original image. In this regard, we focused on a blind deblurring approach with chest CT imaging by using digital image processing in MATLAB, which the blind deconvolution technique performed without any whole knowledge or information as to the fundamental point spread function (PSF). For our approach, we acquired 30 chest CT images from the public source and applied three type's PSFs for finding the true image and the original PSF. The observed image might be convolved with an isotropic gaussian PSF or motion blurring PSF and the original image. The PSFs are assumed as a black box, hence restoring the image is called blind deconvolution. For the 30 iteration times, we analyzed diverse sizes of the PSF and tried to approximate the true PSF and the original image. For improving the ringing effect, we employed the weighted function by using the sobel filter. The results was compared with the three criteria including mean squared error (MSE), root mean squared error (RMSE) and peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), which all values of the optimal-sized image outperformed those that the other reconstructed two-sized images. Therefore, we improved the blurring chest CT image by using the blind deconvolutin algorithm for optimal approach.

  • 본 논문은 핵발전소의 초음파 비파괴 평가를 수행하기 위하여 핵발전소 설비의 초음파 비파괴 평가시 발생될 수 있는 스펙클 잡음을 억제하고 디컨벌루션 기법을 이용하여 결함의 정확한 위치 및 크기를 추정할 수 있는 영상 처리 기법을 제안하였다. 제안된 방법은 실제 핵발전소의 증기발생기 파이프라인으로 만들어진 시편을 이용하여 영상의 선명도를 확인 할 수 있었다.

An algorithm to find all solutions of blind deconvolution

  • This paper shows that blind deconvolution has only finite solutions when an original image and a point spread function are nonzero over a restricted domain, in other words, an observed image has a compact support. The key of the proof is to use z-transformations and factorizations of polynomials. Then, we propose an algorithm to find all finite solutions under the boundary condition. Finally, we confirm that we can extract all sets of an original image and a point spread function from a degraded image by using our algorithm in numerical examples.

  • In this paper describes image enhancement technique using deconvolution processing for ultrasonic nondestructive testing. . When flaws are detected for B-scan or C-scan, blurring effect which is caused by the moving intervals of transducer degrades the quality of images. In addition, acquisited images suffer form speckle noise which is caused by the ultrasonic components reflected from the grain boundary of material [1,2]. The deconvolution technique can restore sharp peak value or clean image from blurring signal or image. This processing is applied to C-scan image obtained from known specimen. Experimental results show that the deconvolution processing contributes to get improved the quality of C-scan images.

  • 영상의 디컨벌루션은 보통 감시 시스템에서 모션 블러 (motion blur)나 초점이 맞지 않아 발생하는 블러 (out-of-focus blur) 문제를 줄이기 위해 전처리 과정에서 사용된다. 본 논문에서는 유전 프로그래밍 (Genetic Programming, GP)에 기반한 새로운 블라인드 영상 디컨벌루션 필터링 방법을 제안한다. GP 진화 과정을 통해 영상 복원을 위한 수학적 표현이 만들어지는데, 이것은 블러 영상의 특징들 사이의 관계를 최적으로 조합하여 원래 화소 값을 복원할 수 있는 추정자 함수가 된다. 이를 위해, 먼저 각 화소의 작은 이웃으로부터 특징 벡터를 만들고 추정자 함수를 학습시키는데, 이러한 GP 진화 과정을 통해 지정한 적합성 기준에 따라 유용한 정보들이 자동으로 조합된다. 개발된 함수는 훼손된 영상의 각 화소에 적용하여 원래의 화소 값을 복원하게 된다. 개발된 함수는 다양한 방법으로 훼손된 영상에 적용하여 실험하였는데, 실험 결과 제안된 방법이 기존 알고리즘에 비해 좋은 결과를 나타내는 것을 알 수 있었다.

Newly-designed adaptive non-blind deconvolution with structural similarity index in single-photon emission computed tomography

  • Single-photon emission computed tomography SPECT image reconstruction methods have a significant influence on image quality, with filtered back projection (FBP) and ordered subset expectation maximization (OSEM) being the most commonly used methods. In this study, we proposed newly-designed adaptive non-blind deconvolution with a structural similarity (SSIM) index that can take advantage of the FBP and OSEM image reconstruction methods. After acquiring brain SPECT images, the proposed image was obtained using an algorithm that applied the SSIM metric, defined by predicting the distribution and amount of blurring. As a result of the contrast to noise ratio (CNR) and coefficient of variation evaluation (COV), the resulting image of the proposed algorithm showed a similar trend in spatial resolution to that of FBP, while obtaining values similar to those of OSEM. In addition, we confirmed that the CNR and COV values of the proposed algorithm improved by approximately 1.69 and 1.59 times, respectively, compared with those of the algorithm involving an inappropriate deblurring process. To summarize, we proposed a new type of algorithm that combines the advantages of SPECT image reconstruction techniques and is expected to be applicable in various fields.
