Technique of Serving 3D GSIS Data on the Internet (인터넷3D GSIS를 위한 3차원 데이터의 효율적 구축 및 생성방안)

  • To provide 3D GSIS data on the internet, 3D data structures need to be researched and applied for spatial analysis for subsurface modeling. As for GSIS software R&D trend the following things have pointed out : 3-dimensional geo-processing technologies, internet-based application system development, distributed processing technologies for large volume of spatial information, real-time geo-data processing methodologies, Among them research scope within Internet-based application system or Web-based GSIS generally contains core parts of software development such as Internet application, large volume of spatial database handling, real-time spatial data processing, spatial data transfer and transformation, and volumetric display of processing results. This study shows the method of providing 3D GSIS on the internet using VRML model, which are made of DEM data, draped aerial photo, and VRML script programming. And it is also studied that offering 3D GSIS engine on the internet and precise texture mapping using satellite image and aerial photos.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study a scheme to ITS service which enables the data (spatial, non-spatial and image) sharing among heterogeneous system (various environment) with employing the concept of object orientedness and to show Location Reference Technique of ITS Space DB for interoperability. Data warehouse service, query object service, interface object service, and naming object service have been identified for this. In addition, a metadata management object service and persistent object service based system framework has been devised. The proposed skeletal framework would be expected to be functioning well for ITS data sharing environment and for the interoperability support.

  • Since 20th century, the rapid growth in economy development and ill-advisable construction of infrastructure which causing injury of nature has generated an El Nino phenomenon problems. For this reason, establishment of heritage preservation plan is being required to prevent damages of important cultural assets from natural disaster. In this study, we obtained both 3D-dxf and VRML-wrl(which support 3D image) files from stone pagodas(stone cultural heritages) by using the digital photogrammetric program. Then database are formed by these two files with other attribute informations. And we made existing cultural heritages management information data format to be unified using JAVA, HTML, and Cosmo Player. Thus, we could construct the web-server for Cultural Heritages Management Information System to contribute not only effective management but also ease of use for expert or amateur user in using of cultural assets informations. And, in virtual reality system, we could make texture presented like as actual texture by using the VRML program.

3D Face Recognition using Cumulative Histogram of Surface Curvature (표면곡률의 누적히스토그램을 이용한 3차원 얼굴인식)

  • A new practical implementation of a facial verification system using cumulative histogram of surface curvatures for the local and contour line areas is proposed, in this paper. The approach works by finding the nose tip that has a protrusion shape on the face. In feature recognition of 3D face images, one has to take into consideration the orientated frontal posture to normalize after extracting face area from the original image. The feature vectors are extracted by using the cumulative histogram which is calculated from the curvature of surface for the contour line areas: 20, 30 and 40, and nose, mouth and eyes regions, which has depth and surface characteristic information. The L1 measure for comparing two feature vectors were used, because it was simple and robust. In the experimental results, the maximum curvature achieved recognition rate of 96% among the proposed methods.

An Efficient Computation Method of Zernike Moments Using Symmetric Properties of the Basis Function (기저 함수의 대칭성을 이용한 저니키 모멘트의 효율적인 계산 방법)

  • A set of Zernike moments has been successfully used for object recognition or content-based image retrieval systems. Real time applications using Zernike moments, however, have been limited due to its complicated definition. Conventional methods to compute Zernike moments fast have focused mainly on the radial components of the moments. In this paper, utilizing symmetric/anti-symmetric properties of Zernike basis functions, we propose a fast and efficient method for Zernike moments. By reducing the number of operations to one quarter of the conventional methods in the proposed method, the computation time to generate Zernike basis functions was reduced to about 20% compared with conventional methods. In addition, the amount of memory required for efficient computation of the moments is also reduced to a quarter. We also showed that the algorithm can be extended to compute the similar classes of rotational moments, such as pseudo-Zernike moments, and ART descriptors in same manner.

Quantification of Metabolic Alterations of Dorsolateral Pre-Frontal Cortex in Depression SD Rat by MR Spectroscopy

  • Purpose: Contrary to the human study, it has rarely investigated metabolic alterations in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) of depressed rats versus age and sex-matched controls using proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS). Thus, the purpose of this research was to verify the feasibility of metabolic differences between the normal rat and the depression model rat. Materials and Methods: A homogeneous group of 20 SD male rats was used for MRI and in vivo 1H MRS. To induce a depressed status in SD rats, we performed the forced swimming test (FST). Using image-guide, water suppressed in vivo 1H MRS with 4.7 T MRI/MRS system, NAA/Cr and Cho/Cr ratios were mainly measured between depressed rats and normal subjects. Results: In depressed rats, increased Cho/Cr ratio was measured versus control subjects. However, no significant group effect for NAA/Cr was observed between case-control pairs. Discussion and Conclusions: The present 1H MRS study shows significant brain metabolic alterations of dorsolateral prefrontal cortex with experimental depressed status of SD rat induced by FST compared to normal subjects. This result provides new evidence that in vivo 1 H MRS may be a useful modality for detecting localized functional neurochemical markers alterations in left DLPFC in SD rats.

  • According to increasing SNS users and developing smart devices like smart phone and tablet PC recently, many techniques to classify user emotions with social network information are researching briskly. The use emotion classification stands for distinguishing its emotion with text and images listed on his/her SNS. This paper suggests a method to classify user emotions through sampling a value of a representative figure on a trigonometrical function, a representative adjective on text, and a canny algorithm on images. The sampling representative adjective on text is selected as one of high frequency in the samplings and measured values of positive-negative by SentiWordNet. Figures sampled on images are selected as the representative in figures; triangle, quadrangle, and circle as well as classified user emotions by measuring pleasure-unpleased values as a type of figures and inclines. Finally, this is re-defined as x-y graph that represents pleasure-unpleased and positive-negative values with wheel of emotions by Plutchik. Also, we are anticipating for applying user-customized service through classifying user emotions on wheel of emotions by Plutchik that is redefined the representative adjectives and figures.

A study on the reproducibility of hippocampal volumes measured using magnetic resonance images of different magnetic field strengths and slice orientations (자장 세기와 스캔 방향이 다른 자기공명영상에서 측정된 해마 체적의 재현성 연구)

  • In a longitudinal neuroimaging study, the upgrades of a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner due to outdated hardwares and softwares make it difficult to maintain the same MRI conditions in the long-term research period. Particularly, high field MRI systems such 3T scanners become popular in recent years. However, it is still unclear whether an integrated analysis of 3T and 1.5T images is possible without consideration of the field strength. In this study, we evaluated the reproducibility of hippocampal volumes between brain images with different field strengths and slice orientations. 296 participants underwent both 3T and 1.5T MRI and both sagittal and axial scans for high resolution brain images, and their hippocampal volumes were measured using Freesurfer, a well-known software for neuroimaging analysis. Paired t-tests showed that the hippocampal volumes were significantly different between the image types. These results suggest that it is necessary to develop data analysis techniques for integrating diverse types of MRI images.

Content-based Shot Boundary Detection from MPEG Data using Region Flow and Color Information (영역 흐름 및 칼라 정보를 이용한 MPEG 데이타의 내용 기반 셧 경계 검출)

  • It is an important step in video indexing and retrieval to detect shot boundaries on video data. Some approaches are proposed to detect shot changes by computing color histogram differences or the variances of DCT coefficients. However, these approaches do not consider the content or meaningful features in the image data which are useful in high level video processing. In particular, it is desirable to detect these features from compressed video data because this requires less processing overhead. In this paper, we propose a new method to detect shot boundaries from MPEG data using region flow and color information. First, we reconstruct DC images and compute region flow information and color histogram differences from HSV quantized images. Then, we compute the points at which region flow has discontinuities or color histogram differences are high. Finally, we decide those points as shot boundaries according to our proposed algorithm.

In vivo and In vitro hair growth promotion effects of extract from Glycine soja Siebold et Zucc

  • Hair is a dermal adjunctive organ that protects the body from external physical and chemical stimuli; hair undergoes anagen, catagen, and telogen phases, with hair-loss occurring during the telogen phase. Alopecia is a condition wherein a person undergoes hair-loss far exceeding the normal amount, owing to diverse external factors. Wild beans are rich in isoflavone and amino acids known to prevent hair-loss; compared to cultivated beans, many wild bean species have higher protein content. This study aimed to develop a hair growth promoting solution, with superior hair growth promoting effects and fewer side effects, using naturally obtained Glycine soja Siebold et Zucc (GSSZ) extracts. Seven-week-old C57BL/6N male mice were classified into different experimental groups. Hair growth was observed in GSSZ-treated mice, and compared against that seen in 3 % minoxidil (MXD, positive control)-treated mice. Visual observations revealed a greater reduction in hair-loss in MXD and GSSZ application groups, compared to that in TXN group (hair loss induction using 1 % testosterone). Evaluation using an image analysis software revealed that compared to the positive control, TXN + GSSZ group showed the highest hair growth. TXN + MXD and control groups exhibited similar follicular cell growth, while the hair growth promotion patterns were similar in the negative control (normal), TXN + GSSZ, and TXN groups, as observed via histological analysis. GSSZ did not induce cytotoxicity (even at 2 mg/mL) in keratinocytes and dermal papilla cells; alternately, dermal papilla cell proliferation was activated in a (GSSZ) concentration-dependent manner. Therefore, the GSSZ extract promoted hair growth and increased hair growth-related cell activity, and could therefore be utilized in alopecia treatment.
