  • As Geographic Information Systems represent three dimensional topological information, The Systems provide accurate and delicate services for users. In order to execute three dimensional topological operations, a dimensional transformation and heterogeneous spatial models should be used. However, the existing systems that use the dimensional transformation and the heterogeneous models, is not only difficult to operate the spatial operators, but also happened to support non-interoperability. Therefore, in order to solve the problems, we proposed three dimensional spatial object models that supported two dimensional object models and implemented them to show validity of the proposed models. When designing the three dimensional topological operators, we used 3DE-9IM which extended DE-9IM to support three dimensional concepts, and implemented operators on the component environment with object oriented concepts. The proposed three dimensional spatial object models and topological operators can support interoperability between systems, and execute spatial queries efficiently on three dimensional spatial objects.

  • These experiments were carried out to investigate the effects of human follicular fluid (hFF) as a protein supplement on development of mammalian embryo as well as to find out ways toward effective use of hFF. The developmental rates of mouse embryos to the blastocyst and implantation stages were significantly higher in T6 +hFF than T6+hFCS. Classified hFF according to the maturity of contained oocytes (M-hFF and Im-hFF), and compared the rates of development of mouse embryo cultured in M-hFF or Im-hFF to culture medium T6. Total protein, albumin and estradiol concentrations were higher in M-hFF than Im-hFF (P<0.05). The developmental rates of mouse embryos to the blastocyst and hatching blastocyst stages cultured in Im-hFF were significantly lower than those in M-hFF and the basic medium. In accordance of the results of human IVF, hFF has been divided into 4 groups. The developmental rates of mouse embryos to the blastocyst stage in presense of hFF from pregnant patients, who have good grade embryos, were significantly higher than those in hFF from patients who have poor grade embryos or were not pregnant. In addition, the rates of development of human embryo were compared in presense of BSA, hFF or hFCS. The developmental rates of human embryos cultured in Ham's F10+hFF were significantly higher than those in the Ham's F10+BSA. These results suggests that the culture system using hFF could improve the development ability of mammalian embryos and the viability of blastocysts cultured in vitro.

  • In this paper, the effects of matrix hygrothermal aging and residual stress changes on $Avimid^{(R)}$ K3B/IM7 laminates in $80^{\circ}C$ water were studied. The factors causing the $80^{\circ}C$ water to degradation of the laminates could be the degradation of the matrix toughness, the change in residual stresses. After 500 hours fully saturated aging of the neat resin, the weight gain was 1.55% increase with the diffusion coefficient $7{\times}10^{-6}m^2/s$ and the fracture toughness was decreased about 41%. After 100 hours fully saturated aging of the $[+45/0/-45/90]_s$ K3B/IM7 laminates in $80^{\circ}C$ water, the weight gain was 0.41% increase with the diffusion coefficient $1{\times}10^{-6}m^2/s$ and the loss of the microcracking fracture toughness was 43.8% of the original toughness. To see whether the residual stress influenced the fracture toughness, two ply $[90^{\circ}/0^{\circ}]$ laminates were put in $80^{\circ}C$ water from 2 hours to 8 hours. The changes in residual stress in 8 hours are less than 3MPa. Because the 3MPa change is not sufficient to degrade the laminates, the main factor to degrade the microcracking fracture toughness was the degradation of the matrix fracture toughness.

  • An intelligent robot, which has been developed recently, is no more a conventional robot widely known as an industrial robot. It is a computer system embedded in a machine and utilizes the machine as a medium not only for the communication between the human and the computer but also for the physical interaction among the human, the computer and their environment. Recent advances in computer technology have made it possible to create several of new types of human-computer interaction which are realized by utilizing intelligent machines. There is a continuing need for better understanding of how to design human/robot interface(HRI) to make for a more natural and efficient flow of information and feedback between robot systems and their users in both directions. In this paper, we explain the concept and the scope of HRI and review the current research trends of domestic and foreign HRL. The recommended research directions in the near future are also discussed based upon a comparative study of domestic and foreign HRI technology.

  • It is important to derive reliable parameter values in the measurement-based load model development of electric power systems. However parameter estimation tasks, in practice, often face the parameter identifiability issue; whether or not the model parameters can be estimated with a given input-output data set in reliable manner. This paper introduces concepts and practical definitions of the local identifiability of model parameters. A posteriori local identifiability is defined in the sense of nonlinear least squares. As numerical examples, local identifiability of third-order induction motor (IM) model and a Z-induction motor (Z-IM) model is studied. It is shown that parameter ill-conditioning can significantly affect on reliable parameter estimation task. Numerical studies show that local identifiability can be quite sensitive to input data and a given local solution. Finally, several countermeasures are proposed to overcome ill-conditioning problem in measurement-based load modeling.

  • Quasi-phase-match (QPM) can be realized by means of one-dimensional spatial modulation of second-order nonlinear susceptibility and has advantages over the conventional bulk phase-matching method because QPM can not only utilize the largest component of second-order nonlinear susceptibility tensor, but also can circumvent walk-off effect. • To examine the role IM plays, We focus on the factors that promote or hinder communication within a Korean organization when instant messenger is used. These factors were examined through two research questions. To understand these issues, a survey consisting of 33 categories was given to government and corporate office workers in Seoul, Korea. The survey results showed that Instant Messenger is recognized as a powerful communication tool in official organizations, but is only used effectively within groups or generations that do not follow the hierarchical relationships characterized by Confucian values. The results of this study fill a gap in our understanding of the important role of IM use in organizational effectiveness and may prove useful when developing tools and strategies to help promote communication within organizations using information technology media.

  • Magnetic anomaly generated around a ship is mainly due to the permanent magnetization(PM) and induced magnetization (IM) remaining on the hull. It is very difficult to predict the direction and its magnitude of the permanent magnetization distributed over the hull, that is caused by mechanical or thermal stress. In this paper, an effective method is proposed to separate two components, the one produced by PM and the other by IM, from the underwater earth field signal distorted by the ferromagnetic material of the ship. The method can easily provide the two kinds of magnetic anomaly through exploiting experimental results and 3D electromagnetic field analyses even though the PM distribution on the hull is not known. To validate the proposed method, a model ship is manufactured and tested. The results would be of much help to basis research for securing safe navigation of a ship against dangerous factors in underwater.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the abrasion resistance of surface penetrating sealant which was applied on a composite resin restoration and to provide proper time to reapply sealant on composite resin surface. Two hundred rectangular specimens, sized $8\times3\times2mm$, were made of Micronew (Bisco, Inc., Schaumburg, IL, U.S.A) and divided into two groups; F group (n = 10) was finished with coarse and medium grit of Sof-Lex discs and BisCoverwas applied B group (n = 190) after finishing with discs. B group was again subdivided into nineteen subgroups From B-1 group to B-18 group were subjected to toothbrush abrasion test using a distilled water-dentifrice slurry and toothbrush heads B-IM group was not subjected to toothbrush abrasion test. Average surface roughness (Ra) of each group was calculated using a surface roughness tester (Surfcorder MSE-1700: Kosaka Laboratory Ltd., Tokyo, Japan) . A representative specimen of each group was examined by FE-SEM (S-4700: Hitachi High Technologies Co., Tokyo, Japan). The data were analysed using cluster analysis, paired t-test, and repeated measure ANOVA. The results of this study were as follows; 1. Ra off group was $0.898{\pm}0.145{\mu}m$ and B-IM group was $0.289{\pm}0.142{\mu}m$. Ra became higher from B-1 group $(0.299{\pm}0.48{\mu}m$ to B-18 group $(0.642{\pm}0.313{\mu}m$. 2. Final cluster center of Ra was $0.361{\mu}m$ in cluster 1 $(B-IM\simB-7)$, $0.511{\mu}m$ in cluster 2 $(B-8\simB-14)$ and $0.624{\mu}m$ in cluster 3 ($(B-15\simB-18)$. There were significant difference among Ra of three clusters. 3 Ra of B-IM group was decreased 210.72% than Ra of F group. Ra of B-8 group and B-15 group was increased 35.49% and 51.35% respectively than Ra of B-IM group. 4. On FE-SEM, B-IM group showed the smoothest resin surface. B-8 group and B-15 group showed vertically shallow scratches , and wide and irregular vertical scratches on composite resin surface respectively. Within a limitation of this study, finished resin surface will be again smooth and glazy if BisCover would be reapplied within 8 to 14 months after applying to resin surface.

  • The growth and development of Gymnophalloides seoi were studied in C3H/HeN mice and effects of immunosuppression of the host on the worm development were observed. Two hundred metacercariae of G. seoi were orally administered to each mouse, and worms were recovered on days 1, 3, 5, 7, 14 and 21 post-infection (PI). The worm recovery rate was significantly higher in immunosuppressed (ImSP) mice than in immunocompetent (ImCT) mice except on days 1 and 3 PI. The worms attained sexual maturity by day 3 PI with eggs in the uterus, and worm dimensions and the number of uterine eggs continuously increased until day 14 PI in ImSP mice. Worms recovered from ImSP mice were significantly larger in size than those from ImCT mice on days 1 and 3 PI, and the number of uterine eggs was significantly larger in ImSP mice on days 5 and 7 PI. Genital organs such as the ovary, testes, and vitellaria, that were already developed in the metacercarial stage. grew a little in size until day 14 PI. The results show that the C3H/HeN mouse is, though not excellent, a suitable laboratory host for G. seoi.
