  • Along with the recent trend of complexity and long distance transmission in power system, dynamic analysis of stability considering the load characteristics is an important subject. In this paper, the influence of the induction motor loads on the power system voltage is investigated. The influence of the inductive load ratio and the inertia of induction motor on the voltage response of the power system are examined, and in the case of the high percentage of the induction motor load, induction motors in the power system can lead to transient voltage instability even under the system condition such as switching operation. The application of static condenser(SC) to prevent the transient voltage instability is introduced.

  • Recently, DC-based power system is being paid attention as the solution for energy efficiency. As the example, HVDC (High Voltage DC) transmission system is utilized in the real power system. On the other hand, researches on LVDC (Low Voltage DC) distribution system, which are including digital loads, are not enough. In this paper, reliability in LVDC distribution system is analyzed according to the specific characteristics such as the arrangement of DC/DC converters and the number of poles. Furthermore, power quality is also taken account of since LVDC distribution system includes multiple sensitive loads and electric power converters. In order to achieve this, LVDC distribution systems are modeled using ElectroMagnetic Transient Program (EMTP) and both the minimal cut-set method and Customer Interruption Cost (CIC) are used in the reliability analysis.

  • The concept of the Micro-Grid comprising Micro-Sources supplying both heat and power ranging from several [KW] to 1[MW] to local customers is proposed by CERTS(Consortium for Electric Reliability Technology Solutions). Micro-Sources adopt environmentally friendly and reliable power sources such as Fuel-Cell and Micro-Turbines. Micro-Sources adopt voltage source inverter with AC grid system in order to provide independent real and reactive power control for premium power quality. Thus Micro-Source needs series inductance for interfacing with AC grid system. With this reason, we propose a technique that can decide the optimal size of the inductor for effective transfer of the power into the grid.

  • This paper presents the wind-power model for generation adequacy assessment. Both wind-power and system load depend on time of a year and show their periodic nature with similar periods. Therefore, the two quantities have some probabilistic relations, and if one of them is given, the other can be decided with some probability. In this paper, the two quantities are quantized by k-means clustering algorithm and related probabilities among the cluster centers are calculated using sequential wind-power and system load data. The proposed model is highly expected to be applied for generation adequacy assessment by Monte-Carlo simulation with state sampling method.

  • This paper proposes information technology based data mining to forecast short term power demand. A time-series analyses have been applied to power demand forecasting, but this method needs not only heavy computational calculation but also large amount of coefficient data. Therefore, it is hard to analyze data in fast way. To overcome time consuming process, the author take advantage of universally easily available information technology based data-mining technique to analyze patterns of days and special days(holidays, etc.). This technique consists of two steps, one is constructing decision tree, the other is estimating and forecasting power flow using decision tree analysis. To validate the efficiency, the author compares the estimated demand with real demand from the Korea Power Exchange.

  • In this paper, we developed DSP(Digital Signal Processor)-based control system to automatically open and close passive filter, which is used to reduce harmonics, according to operating condition of loads. Passive filter control system automatically open and close each branch of filter according to working conditions of loads by sending signals to open and close installation of passive filter after measuring and monitoring voltage, current, harmonics, reactive power, power factor and so on. We verified it's performance by connecting control system with passive filter in the power line using the 100HP D.C motor drive, opening and closing passive filter according to operation condition of motor, and measuring harmonics and reactive power, etc.

  • A diagnostic fluoroscopy X-ray system uses a 32kW or greater X-ray generator for obtaining real-time moving images and high-resolution images. Fluoroscopy X-ray systems have to use a high-capacity AC power source to perform long-time low-power fluoroscopy and short-time high-power spot exposure. In this paper, we propose a hybrid type X-ray generator for fluoroscopy X-ray system which can perform fluoroscopy and spot exposure with a low-capacity AC power source and an energy storage device. The characteristics of energy storage devices are compared and each energy storage device is modelled to equivalent circuit. And the characteristics of available energy are analyzed as a function of output voltage and power. A 32kW class hybrid X-ray generator with EDLC as an energy storage device for fluoroscopy X-ray system was constructed, and its validity was verified by means of simulations and experiments.

  • IEC is an international standards which are used in many countries with Europe as the center. IEC standard is introduced in Korea according to WTO/TBT agreements, however until now there are no buildings in Korea which are designed applying IEC standard. Therefore, KEA(Korea Electric Association) is scheduled to construct Korean low voltage electrical installation integration test site which is designed applying IEC standard. In this paper, before being under construction of Korean low voltage electrical installation integration test site, power substation is modeled based on real design parameters and method to select circuit breakers and cables is presented applying IEC standard in the modeled power substation. EMTP(ElctroMagnetic Transient Program) is used for simulation program. EMTP which is power system analysis program is easy to model power system and power substation.

A Study on the analysis about the power density according to the structural forms of the urban railway stations (도시철도 정거장의 구조형태에 따른 전력원단위 분석에 관한 연구)

  • The urban railway station is a structure that consumes a large amount of electric energy. Thus, the rationalization of using electric power is acutely demanded, but statistical data and design criteria that consider operating power load characteristics and structures, are very insufficiency. Therefore, this study investigated and analyzed that electricity consumption a year, characteristics, gross floor area of the station, structure, and etc, on the basis of Seoul metro station 1~4 line. Through regression analysis theory, we verified the overall features and the main tendency by analysis of specific parameter value(average, maximum, minimum, etc). The object of this study is the analysis about power density considering structure of the urban railway station, managing electric energy for the rationalization and setting a new standard of maintenance and construction.
