  • Visual literacy, a key element of a design portfolio, is achieved by communicating a consistent visual aesthetic with respect to design elements, design principles and individual style. Yet, students often feel challenged in articulating their personal aesthetic or design philosophy in order to create a unifying design identity within a body of artifacts. This paper shares some best practices on overcoming this challenge through students' engagement in self-reflection and identity formation processes. The implemented innovative strategy in a senior-level portfolio development course for apparel designers involved four different phases: 1) one-on-one meetings to self-reflect on previous design work, 2) selection and revision of artifacts, 3) peer-review and critiques of revised portfolio artifacts, and 4) development of a final ePortfolio to showcase a unified design identity. It was evident that recording students' initial self-reflection in the form of a metacognitive oral report encouraged and motivated identity development in their portfolio. Further, students expressed their satisfaction in the ability to participate in the selection process of artifacts by self-reflecting about what they wanted to highlight about themselves and why. Overall, student outcomes from this strategy exceeded expectations and the portfolios developed were successful in creating a cohesive design identity.

  • Henry James tries to describe minutely in The Wings of the Dove the process in which a bad faith grows, is practiced in one's self, and spreads to a society. Through this fictional specificity, he embodies an analogy between a bad faith and social role-playing. That is, he shows, through the main characters such as Milly Theale and Merton Densher, how self interacts with the other and a society. In this interaction, there is some essential element, namely, an organic relationship between a self identity and a social role-model, which James describes very meticulously. Therefore, the characters are depicted as seeking to define self identity and eventually distorting it. Thus, The Wings of the Dove can be seen as a tragedy in which the characters who have this wrongly distorted self identity come to experience its effects. The distorted self identity appears to function as a social role. Milly distorts her true self identity by internalizing a dove-image for it. This results in a bad faith. Moreover, the American girl Milly utilizes it as a convenient social role-model which makes it easy for her to interact and engage with the others in the European society. Merton also evades adventurous and painful self-reflection and self-criticism by sticking to the mannerisms of gentlemanship and imitates the sublimity which Milly shows him. Thus, Milly and Merton clearly omit self-inspection and self-inquiry for the contact between a free self and a society, which is essential to obtain social objectivity, namely, intersubjectivity.

  • In this paper we show that if K is an incline with multiplicative identity and I is an r-ideal of k containing a unit u, then I = K. Moreover, we show that in a non-zero incline K with multiplicative identity and zero element, every proper r-ideal in K is contained in a maximal r-ideal of K.

  • This article concerns the property that for any element a in a ring, if a2n = an for some n ≥ 2 then a2 = a. The class of rings with this property is large, but there also exist many kinds of rings without that, for example, rings of characteristic ≠2 and finite fields of characteristic ≥ 3. Rings with such a property is called reduced-over-idempotent. The study of reduced-over-idempotent rings is based on the fact that the characteristic is 2 and every nonzero non-identity element generates an infinite multiplicative semigroup without identity. It is proved that the reduced-over-idempotent property pass to polynomial rings, and we provide power series rings with a partial affirmative argument. It is also proved that every finitely generated subring of a locally finite reduced-over-idempotent ring is isomorphic to a finite direct product of copies of the prime field {0, 1}. A method to construct reduced-over-idempotent fields is also provided.

  • This research is focused on the emotion rather than the logic, the present building up the Market toward clients' relationship and the communication through the most direct Contact Space in Non-Mass Media Communication. This research's purposes are to classify Space Communication kinds to analyze how the each element could affect on Brand Identity Strength and to provide the way to appeal the Brand Image as the corporation intends and to analyze Corporations and Clients' value from Space Communication. The process of this research is following. Analysis of the Space Communication, which mentioned above and the value, which was obtained from it, and analysis through the Brand, which uses the Space to build the Brand Identity with positive Brand Image and the conclusion. In Conclusion, we need to analyze the identity of each Brand and do positioning to make outstanding Brand through analysis. Because outstanding scheme varies on deciding to communicate through the Space to satisfy clients with outstanding plan or clients' sex, age, profession, resign though appealing same Brand identity, the Space Identity should be flexible depends on area and target market.

  • Mobile device has a constraint such as a small physical display size and interaction. One of the most important issues in mobile devices is the express an identity of one's products company. It can be appeal to the user in side of consistency. Thus, we integrate and extract an identity element from user experience including, Graphical User Interface, Information Architecture and Audio User Interface. The study was conducted by a task force team with User Interface practitioners of managing divisions of each product. In this study, methods and processes that were attempted in order to establish consistency principles of user experiences, enhancing the various characteristics of each product, are described. The results and practical experiences obtained through the processes are introduced.

  • The purpose of this thesis is to study the aspects of sex identity in the contemporary mens fashion expressed through sexual image and taste in the half of twentieth century. The aspects of sex identity expression in the contemporary mens fashion can be classified by image, that is, homosexual, heroic, bisexual, and fetish. 1. The homosexual image has shown the tendency to emphasize the masculinity since 1950.60s. It can be found in \"Cowboys costume\" which is typical of American traditional fashion, and jeans and underwear fashion expressed by muscular men has homosexual characteristics which contain narcissism. 2. Based on mens traditional gender role, the heroic image emphasizes mens physical characteristics and expresses tough and offensive masculine beauty in mens suit which is free from the authority and formality. 3. The bisexual image denied the division of gender role by costume and destroyed the traditional sex model by resolutely applying womens costume such as skirts to mens fashion. 4. The fetish image is similar to bisexual image in that they wear womens costume, but different in that it expresses sexual desire or fantasy. It is expressed through brilliant color, leather and metal ornaments, and sensual element of women which emphasizes \"body\". This shows the sex identity of contemporary men who want more sensible and free life.sible and free life.

  • With the growth of mass media, professional baseball teams have strived to keep up team's tradition and individuality and build a distinctive image through sports marketing using visual identity. Among others, a baseball uniform is used as a sports marketing tool more than an uniform. Uniform color acts as a distinctive element in team's uniform design and is effective to raise attention, manifest a positive image to spectators, and increase trust and affinity. This study aims to compare and analyze color characteristics and images of professional baseball uniforms in America, Japan, and Korea as visual identity. For this, literature review was made on the history of baseball, uniforms, sports marketing, and visual identity, and then color characteristics and images were analyzed on professional baseball away uniforms in Korea, America, and Japan collected in Internet and official web sites. The results are as follows. First, for color characteristics of professional baseball uniforms, the most frequently used color was R(V) color in Korea, ltGy color in America, and Bk color in Japan. Second, for color images of professional baseball uniforms, the most frequently used image was a casual image in Korea, a dandy image in America, and a modern image in Japan.
