  • Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is one of Identification Technologies today. Many of the large retailers in the United States and Europe have established requirements for their suppliers to use RFID technology in 2004. Recently Airbus and Boeing have announced plans to develop a single RFID specification to be used by both companies to use RFID tags to identify commercial aircraft parts. However, it does not mean the end of barcode and it may take several years before the wide adoption of the RFID. This is because a precise business process reengineering is required with technology itself to get the potential benefits of RFID. In this paper, we introduce an RFID enabled air baggage handling process which has been developed and tested recently. We believe our study would give a good guideline for further researches on RFID application in the aviation industry.

  • It was emphasized that national electronic identification card system should be a prerequisite for the entire administrative services. Furthermore, the government so designed the plan on the assumption of national electronic identification card system that it could manage services for the public, elections, and most of decision-making processes. Nevertheless, national electronic identification card system has drifted for a fairly long time without being institutionalized. On the basis of the policy examples, this study tries to examine the process and discuss on what elements of conflict have been shown. Though it is all water under the bridge, it is thought that, when the new policy emerges in the future, recurrent failures can be reduced by a case study like this.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate how sports fans' loyalty is built via CSR activities of professional sports teams. Furthermore, the study sought to suggest the model presenting the process of developing loyalty of sport fans by teams' CSR performance. Research design, data, and methodology: For this purpose, a survey was conducted on 450 professional sports fans through the convenience sampling method. A total of 357 of the data were used for the final analysis. Based on the collected data, frequency analysis, reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and structural equation model analysis were conducted. Results: The results showed that CSR activities contribute to building a positive image of team. Regarding fan identification, team image has also a positive effect on enhancing identification. The finding has supported the notion that attitudinal loyalty is enhanced by fan identification and further attitudinal loyalty significantly influences behavioural loyalty of fans. Conclusions: The results of this study explored the function of CSR of the teams on attitudinal and behavioural outcomes, loyalty. Moreover, the study suggested the constructual model presenting its role on enhancing fans' attitudes and behaviour affecting participation and consumption. Academic and practical implications were discussed for sport marketers and practitioners.

  • Although hazard identification is one of the most important steps of safety management process, numerous hazards remain unidentified in the construction workplace due to the dynamic environment of the construction site and the lack of available resource for visual inspection. To this end, our previous study proposed the collective sensing approach for safety hazard identification and showed the feasibility of identifying hazards by capturing collective abnormalities in workers' walking patterns. However, workers generally performed different activities during the construction task in the workplace. Thereby, an additional process that can identify the worker's walking activity is necessary to utilize the proposed hazard identification approach in real world settings. In this context, this study investigated the feasibility of identifying walking activities during construction task using Wearable Inertial Measurement Units (WIMU) attached to the worker's ankle. This study simulated the indoor masonry work for data collection and investigated the classification performance with three different machine learning algorithms (i.e., Decision Tree, Neural Network, and Support Vector Machine). The analysis results showed the feasibility of identifying worker's activities including walking activity using an ankle-attached WIMU. Moreover, the finding of this study will help to enhance the performance of activity recognition and hazard identification in construction.

  • Multi-modal biometric system can use another biometric trait in the case of having deficiency at a biometric trait. It also has an advantage of improving the performance of personal identification by using multiple biometric traits, so studies on new biometric traits have continuously been performed. The inner face of finger is a relatively new biometric trait. It has two major features of knuckle lines and wrinkles, which can be used as discriminative features. This paper proposes a finger identification method based on displacement vector to effectively process some variation appeared in contactless hand image. At first, the proposed method produces displacement vectors, which are made by connecting corresponding points acquired by matching each pair of local block. It then recognize finger by measuring the similarity among all the detected displacement vectors. The experimental results using pubic CASIA hand image database show that the proposed method may be effectively applied to personal identification.

  • Implementing the automatic identification in supply chain management is essential for effective and efficient process control. Though the GTIN based bar code system is generally used as an automatic identification method in most industries, it can not identify individual item, and is not appropriated for products' reliability and safety management. So the RFID system with EPC is considered as a better solution for resolving those problems. This study reviewed automatic identification code systems and the attributes and characteristics of RFID Gen 2 which became a global standard recently for supply chain management. Particularly, this study analyzed RFID Gen 2 systems' read rates on various conditions including distances between tags and readers and between antennas, condensation, and several packing materials in practical supply chain environment. The results of this study showed that the RFID Gen 2 had high read ratio in practical application and would be adopted as a new automatic identification means for traceability systems.

  • In this study, a star identification algorithm which utilizes pivot patterns instead of apparent magnitude information was developed. The new star identification algorithm consists of two steps of recognition process. In the first step, the brightest star in a sensor image is identified using the orientation of brightness between two stars as recognition information. In the second step, cell indexes are used as new recognition information to identify dimmer stars, which are derived from the brightest star already identified. If we use the cell index information, we can search over limited portion of the star catalogue database, which enables the faster identification of dimmer stars. The new pivot algorithm does not require calibrations on the apparent magnitude of a star but it shows robust characteristics on the errors of apparent magnitude compared to conventional pivot algorithms which require the apparent magnitude information.

  • The System identification is the process of developing or improving a mathematical model of a physical system using experimental data of the input, output and noise relationship. The field of system identification has been an important discipline within the automatic control area. The reason is the requirement that mathematical models having a specified accuracy must be used to apply modem control methods. In this paper, it is confirmed that we can obtain transfer function of flexible beam that is expressed in the forms of identified state-space system matrix A, B, C, D and identified observer gain G using Eigensystem Realization Algorithm including singular value decomposition. And these matrices can be applied to the automatic control. In addition to, it is also confirmed that transfer function can express a system using identified observer gain G, in spite of a noisy data or a periodic disturbance.

  • In the area of hotel and tourism sector, various research are analyzed using big data. Big data is being generated by any digital devices around us all the times. All the digital process and social media exchange produces the big data. In this paper, we analyzed the de-identification method of big data to use the personal information of hotel guests. Through the analysis of these big data, hotel can provide differentiated and diverse services to hotel guests and can improve the service and support the marketing of hotels. If the hotel wants to use the information of the guest, the private data should be de-identified. There are several de-identification methods of personal information such as pseudonymisation, aggregation, data reduction, data suppression and data masking. Using the comparison of these methods, the pseudonymisation is discriminated to the suitable methods for the analysis of information for the hotel guest. Also, among the pseudonymisation methods, the t-closeness was analyzed to the secure and efficient method for the de-identification of personal information in hotel.

  • This paper discusses an on-line fuzzy dynamic model(FDM) identification of nonlinear processes for the design of fuzzy model based fault detection and isolation(FDI). The dynamic behavior of a nonlinear process is represented by a fuzzy aggregation of a set of local linear models. The identification is divided into two procedures. The first is the off-line identification of membership function. The second is the on-line identification of the local linear models. Then, we propose a residual generation scheme based on the parameters of local linear models and show that the scheme can be used for the design of FDI
