A Study on Wear loss of Motorcycle Brake Disk by Response Surface Method (반응 표면법을 이용한 이륜자동차 브레이크 디스크 마멸량에 관한 연구)

  • In this research, I would like to choose sliding distance and ventilated hole number which affect to the amount of wear of disk and pad as experiment conditions of 'the amount of wear' through wear test of motorcycle brake disk. Also, I analyze the amount of wear according to the variation of coefficient of friction by using design of experiment that is being widely used in diverse areas. With the tests of least, I present the correlation of each experiment condition. Therefore, I analyzed the variation of the amount of wear of disk and pad according to test factors such as ventilated hole number, applied load, sliding speed, and sliding distance in wear test of motorcycle brake disk by applying the design of experiment. Also, I analyzed quantitatively the influence of test factors through Taguchi Robust experimental design, response surface and examined the most suitable level and estimation of the amount of wear of disk. From these, I reached the following conclusions. response surface design, mathematical model was constructed about amount of wear of disk and pad. The amount of wear that decrease according to increase of ventilated hole number, and it's increase according to Increase of applied load, sliding speed, and sliding distance.

  • This paper is the first one of two-parted research efforts focusing on the modeling of rubber pad forming process. The rubber pad, driven by the pressurized fluid during the forming process, pushes the sheet metal to solid tool half and forms a part to final shape. In this part of the paper, a numerical procedure for the FE analysis of the rubber pad deformation is presented. The developed three-dimensional FE model is based on the total Lagrangian description of rubber maerial characterized by nearly incompressible hyper-elastic behavior under a large deformation assumption. Validity of the model as well as effects of different algorithms corresponding to incompresibility constraints and time integration methods on numerical solution responses are also demonstrated.

  • Asbestos is being replaced throughout the world among friction materials because of its carcinogenic nature. This has raised an important issue of heat dissipation in the non-asbestos brake pad materials being developed for automobiles etc. It has been found that two of the components i.e. carbon fibres as reinforcement and graphite powder as friction modifier, in the brake pad material, can playa vital role in this direction. The study reports the influence of these modifications on the thermal properties like coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) and thermal conductivity along with the mechanical properties of nonasbestos brake pad composite samples developed in the laboratory.

Measurement of Fluid Film Thickness on the Valve Plate in Oil Hydraulic Axial Piston rumps (I) - Bearing Pad Effects -

  • The tribological mechanism between the valve plate and the cylinder block in oil hydraulic axial piston pumps plays an important role on high power density. In this study, the fluid film thickness between the valve plate and the cylinder block was measured with discharge pressure and rotational speed by use of a gap sensor, and a slip ring system in the operating period. To investigate the effect of the valve plate shapes, we designed two valve plates with different shapes . the first valve plate was without a bearing pad, while the second valve plate had a bearing pad. It was found that both valve plates behaved differently with respect to the fluid film thickness characteristics. The leakage flow rates and the shaft torque were also experimented in order to clarify the performance difference between the valve plate without a bearing pad and the valve plate with a bearing pad. From the results of this study, we found out that in the oil hydraulic axial piston pumps, the valve plate with a bearing pad showed better film thickness contours than the valve plate without a bearing pad.

  • This paper discribed the characteristic of I-t cross-over-point between current limited-fuse and explusion fuse(Bay-O-Net Fuse) and fuse protection in pad-mounted transformer that was generated internal faults and the short circuit of secondary side(load side). In the I-t cross-over-point, current limited fuse was melted when transient recovery voltage was raised rapidly.

  • Cheonmabanhwa-Tang(CBT) has been used in the Oriental Medicine for many centuries as a therapeutic agent for dizziness due to Poong-Dam. This Study was designed to investigate the mechanism of Prescription on cerebral hemodynamics [regional cerebral blood flow(rCBF) and pial arterial diameter(PAD)J in cerebral ischemia rats, The results in cerebral ischemic rats were as follows: Both rCBF and PAD were significantly and stably increased by CBT (10 ㎎/㎏, i.p.) during the period of cerebral reperfusion, which contrasted with the findings of rapid and marked increase in control group. Pretreatment with indomethacin(1 ㎎/㎏, i.p.), an inhibitor of cyclooxygenase significantly but unstably increased the CBT-induced increases in PAD as well as rCBF during the period of cerebral reperfusion. Pretreatment with methylene blue(10 (.1.㎍/㎏, i.p.), an inhibitor of guanylate cyclase significantly but unstably increased the CBT-induced increases in PAD as well as rCBF during 150 minutes of cerebral reperfusion, but decreased stably the CBT-induced increases in rCBF and PAD after 180 minutes of cerebral reperfusion. In conclusion, the present authors thought that CBT caused effect on cerebral hemodynamics via mediation of cyclooxygenase.

  • The acoustic noise around a launch pad by launches of space launch vehicles was analyzed. The magnitudes of sound noise at some points near launch pad were predicted by locating the sound source at the exhaust jet plume of the rocket engine and considering several factors such as the directivity of the sound propagation and atmospheric attenuation. Specifically, the launch noise of Korea Space Launch Vehicle-I (KSLV-I) was estimated, and was compared to the actual measurement results. The analysis results proved to be heavily affected by the characteristics of directivity of sound propagation and the analysis showed good agreements with the measurements when the directivity of the sound was appropriately adjusted.

  • Recently personal income level is rising. So, many people use the leisure lightweight aircraft and the population which enjoys a leisure is increasing. But as the leisure lightweight aircraft compares in the civil aircraft and the military aircraft, and it has a low price. So the equipment which it is loaded in the lightweight aircraft is not equipped. In this paper, we develop the air navigation for lightweight aircraft using the smart phone(iPhone, Android phone, Window mobile, BADA phone etc.) and the smart pad(iPad, Galaxy Tab etc.).

  • Chip-on-glass(COG) mounting of area array electronic packages was attempted by heating the rear surface of a contact pad film deposited on a glass substrate. The pads consisted of an adhesion(i.e. Cr or Ti) and a top coating layer(i.e. Ni or Cu) was heated by an UV laser beam transmitted through the glass substrate. The laser energy absorbed on the pad raised the temperature of a solder ball which is in physical contact with the pad, forming a reflowed solder bump. The effects of the adhesion and top coating layer on the laser reflow soldering were studied by measuring temperature profile of the ball during the laser heating process. The results were discussed based on the measurement of reflectivity of the adhesion layer. In addition, the microstructures of solder bumps and their mechanical properties were examined.

  • Usability study of the CU Medical "i-PAD" AED was conducted to validate the usability of the device, primarily focused on the trained user as well as the utility of the training material. Comparing these results of the trained participants to those obtained by Callejas et al. (2004), who studied video-trained users of two commercially available Philips AEDs (FR2 and HS1) using a male manikin only, the participants in this study were more successful (100% vs. 85.7%-FR2 vs. 88.9%-HS1) and faster to shock (58.5s-i-PAD vs. 91s-FR2 vs. 90s-HS1). While the focus of this study was on validating ease of use for trained bystanders, the results of the untrained condition showed that, from a usability perspective, these devices perform as well as any other AEDs already approved and available for purchase for untrained bystander use, as evidenced by the comparison to various published research results.
