국내 화력발전산업의 연료의 효율적 배분과 CO2 저검규모 추정

  • Generally speaking, firms, faced with a regulatory environment, are likely to use more or less inputs than optimal level due to allocative inefficiency of inputs. This paper, first, tests allocative efficiency of fuel inputs and calculates the divergence between the actual and optimal levels of each fuel input conditional on the optimal level of capital stock in Korean thermal power industry. Then, given that each fuel is efficiently allocated. potential reduction of $CO_2$ is estimated over the period 1987~2008. The null hypothesis of allocative efficiency with respect to all fuels is rejected, indicating that thermal power plants fail to attain cost minimization subject do market prices. Allocative efficiency between each pair of fuels is also tested; efficient uses of fuels relative to each other are all rejected. Empirical results indicate that coal and gas are used more and oil is used less than optimal level. On average, more than 10 million tons of $CO_2$ per year could be reduced by achieving allocative efficiency of fuels.

Application of Pharmacovigilance Methods in Occupational Health Surveillance: Comparison of Seven Disproportionality Metrics

  • Objectives: The French National Occupational Diseases Surveillance and Prevention Network (RNV3P) is a French network of occupational disease specialists, which collects, in standardised coded reports, all cases where a physician of any specialty, referred a patient to a university occupational disease centre, to establish the relation between the disease observed and occupational exposures, independently of statutory considerations related to compensation. The objective is to compare the relevance of disproportionality measures, widely used in pharmacovigilance, for the detection of potentially new disease ${\times}$ exposure associations in RNV3P database (by analogy with the detection of potentially new health event ${\times}$ drug associations in the spontaneous reporting databases from pharmacovigilance). Methods: 2001-2009 data from RNV3P are used (81,132 observations leading to 11,627 disease ${\times}$ exposure associations). The structure of RNV3P database is compared with the ones of pharmacovigilance databases. Seven disproportionality metrics are tested and their results, notably in terms of ranking the disease ${\times}$ exposure associations, are compared. Results: RNV3P and pharmacovigilance databases showed similar structure. Frequentist methods (proportional reporting ratio [PRR], reporting odds ratio [ROR]) and a Bayesian one (known as BCPNN for "Bayesian Confidence Propagation Neural Network") show a rather similar behaviour on our data, conversely to other methods (as Poisson). Finally the PRR method was chosen, because more complex methods did not show a greater value with the RNV3P data. Accordingly, a procedure for detecting signals with PRR method, automatic triage for exclusion of associations already known, and then investigating these signals is suggested. Conclusion: This procedure may be seen as a first step of hypothesis generation before launching epidemiological and/or experimental studies.

Analysis of Non-segregated S-allele Strain by Single-Locus Hypothesis in Self-incompatible Brassica campestris (자가불화합성 Brassica campestris에 있어서 단일유전자좌가설에 의해 분리되지 않는 S-유전자 계통의 분석)

  • Self-incompatibility in Brassica campestris is controlled by multi-allele system in a single genetic locus, the S locus, and it is elucidated that S-glycoproteins are S gene products. In this experiments, we examined the genetic mode(pollen tube behavior and segregation of S-glycoprotein), characteristic of S-glycoproteins and DNA constitution within nuclear genome on S gene family that unexplained by single locus model, and investigated the segregation pattern of S-glycoproteins in bred F1 generation. By diallel cross among the 15 plants within one family the existence of three types of homozygotes and three types of heterozygotes were observed, and segregation of S-allele could not explained by single locus model. From the results of IEF-immunoblot analysis for non-segregated individual plant, the segregation pattern of S specific bands was corresponded with results of diallel cross except with one case(SaSa genotype). The molecular weight of 6 different S-genotype varied in near by 50 kD, and each genotype expressed with 2 or 3 bands. Specific bands in SaSa, SbSb, ScSc has almost similar molecular weight between them. Southern analysis of genomic DNA probed with S-glycoprotein cDNA for 6 different genotypes revealed that there are clear difference in polymorphism, multiple bands of hybridization, when restriction enzymes of EcoR I were used. It could be assumed that there are several sequences related to the S-glycoprotein structural genes within their nuclear genome. Therefore, we suggested the possibilities that S-allele system could be controlled by multi-locus, that dominance-recessive interactions could be explained by modifier gene or supressor gene based on the results of abnormal segregation of S-glycoprotein in bred F1.   • This study focused on finding out how transformational leadership, emotional leadership, and servant leadership in military organizations affected organizational effectiveness (commission satisfaction, immersion, and organizational citizen behavior) by special forces, standing forces, GTO, independent units on the coast, and educational institutions and training units. Therefore, in order to achieve this research objective, we intend to utilize two studies, the literature and the empirical studies, in this paper. Through the literature study, we also set up a critical consideration of the major leadership theory so far, understand the soldiers of the new generation, set up the background and characteristics of the new leadership theory, transformative leadership and emotional leadership, and set up and study the hypothesis for the organizational effectiveness in the main contents (concepts, components, measurement data) and variables. Empirical research is aimed at empirically analyzing the impact of transformative leadership, emotional leadership, and servant leadership on sub-type and organizational effectiveness, and whether sub-type controls leadership type and organizational effectiveness. organizational effectiveness.

  • The Korean mobile telecommunication service market is faced with a tremendous competitive period, in which the market is entering into the maturity stage with launching of the 3rd generation service and with introduction of mobile number portability. In general, it is more important to sustain the old customers than to attracting new customers, as the life cycle of an industry is entering the maturity stage in which the growth rate of new customers is decreasing gradually or becoming stagnant. Until now, many researches had tested whether the customer satisfaction and loyalty were the core factors of sustaining customers or not. Also service quality and switching cost were given a remarkable attention for their possibility of exogenous factors, which could exercise effects to customer satisfaction and loyalty. In the same context, mobile telecommunication business has to seek a way to maintain the existing customers instead of promoting new customers. So this study investigates whether the service quality and switching barrier of mobile telecommunication could have effects on the customer satisfaction and loyalty, which are recognized as an efficient means to sustain the current customers. In order to test the hypothesis on the effects of service quality and switching barrier of mobile telecommunication to customer satisfaction and loyalty in Korean telecommunication industry, this study collected the questionnaire response data of students including middle and high school students and undergraduates, who are regarded as the major customers in that mobile telecommunication industry.

Effect of Heme-rich Nutrient on Anaerobic Bacterial Growth and Survival: A Model Study on Lactobacillus gasseri (헴철이 풍부한 영양원이 혐기성 세균의 생장과 생존에 미치는 영향: 락토바실러스 가세리 모델연구)

  • Lactic acid bacteria (LAB), belonging to the Firmicutes phylum, lack heme biosynthesis and, thus, are characterized as fermentative and catalase-negative organisms. To verify the hypothesis that heme-rich-nutrients might compensate the heme-biosynthesis incapability of non-respiratory LAB in animal gut, a heme-rich-nutrient was fed to a dog and its fecal microbiome was analyzed. Firmicutes abundance in the feces from the heme-rich-nutrient-fed dog was 99%, compared to 92% in the control dog. To clarify the reason of increased Firmicutes abundance in the feces from the heme-rich-nutrient-fed dog, Lacobacillus gasseri were used as model anerobic LAB to study a purified heme (hemin). The anaerobic growth of L. gasseri in the medium with 25 µM hemin supplementation was faster than that in the medium without hemin, while the growth in the 50 µM hemin-supplemented medium did not vary. Cellular activities of the cytochrome bd complex were 1.55 ± 0.19, 2.11 ± 0.14, and 2.20 ± 0.08 U/gcell in the cells from 0, 25, and 50 µM hemin-supplemented medium, while intracellular ATP concentrations were 7.90 ± 1.12, 11.95 ± 0.68, and 12.56 ± 0.58 µmolATP/gcell, respectively. The ROS-scavenging activities of the L. gasseri cytosol from 25 µM and 50 µM hemin-supplemented medium were 68% and 82% greater than those of the cytosol from no hemin supplemented-medium, respectively. These findings indicate that external hemin could compensate the heme-biosynthesis incapability of L. gasseri by increasing the cytosolic ROS-scavenging and extra ATP generation, possibly through increasing the electron transfer. Increase in the number of anaerobic bacteria in heme-rich-nutrient-fed animal gut is discussed based on the results.

Unsteady Pressure Oscillations of Liquefied Paraffin Wax Combustion in Hybrid Rocket (파라핀-왁스를 사용하는 하이브리드 로켓 연소의 비정상 압력 진동)

  • The post chamber in hybrid rocket is installed to induce additional increase in combustion enthalpy by allowing continuous burning of the liquefied fuels. When paraffin wax fuel is used, unsteady pressure oscillations are observed only at the beginning of combustion. This study intends to investigate the effect of additional combustion of liquefied fuel droplets on the occurrence of unsteady pressure fluctuations. For this, the combustion in post-chamber was visualized and image analysis using POD(Proper Orthogonal Decomposition) technique was performed. In addition, the hypothesis was proposed on the occurrence of unsteady pressure oscillations by identifying the modes including the behavior of droplets through mode reconstruction. Conducting a series of combustion tests, the amount of liquefied fuel flowing into the post chamber and the generation of fuel droplets were controlled. Also, the changes in frequency characteristic of unsteady pressure oscillation were monitored. As a result, the unsteady pressure oscillations observed in paraffin wax combustion were the result of additional combustion of fuel droplets generated in the post chamber.

Assessment of seismic stability of finite slope in c-ϕ soils - a plasticity approach

  • A forecast of slope behavior during catastrophic events, such as earthquakes is crucial to recognize the risk of slope failure. This paper endeavors to eliminate the significant supposition of predefined slip surfaces in the slope stability analysis, which questions the relevance of simple conventional methods under seismic conditions. To overcome such limitations, a methodology dependent on the slip line hypothesis, which permits an automatic generation of slip surfaces, is embraced to trace the extreme slope face under static and seismic conditions. The effect of earthquakes is considered using the pseudo-static approach. The current outcomes developed from a parametric study endorse a non-linear slope surface as the extreme profile, which is in accordance with the geomorphological aspect of slopes. The proposed methodology is compared with the finite element limit analysis to ensure credibility. Through the design charts obtained from the current investigation, the stability of slopes can be assessed under seismic conditions. It can be observed that the extreme slope profile demands a flat configuration to endure the condition of the limiting equilibrium at a higher level of seismicity. However, a concurrent enhancement in the shear strength of the slope medium suppresses this tendency by offering greater resistance to the seismic inertial forces induced in the medium. Unlike the traditional linear slopes, the extreme slope profiles mostly exhibit a steeper layout over a significant part of the slope height, thus ensuring a more optimized solution to the slope stability problem. Further, the susceptibility of the Longnan slope failure in the Huining-Wudu seismic belt is predicted using the current plasticity approach, which is found to be in close agreement with a case study reported in the literature. Finally, the concept of equivalent single or multi-tiered planar slopes is explored through an example problem, which exhibits the appropriateness of the proposed non-linear slope geometry under actual field conditions.

Performance Analysis of Optical Camera Communication with Applied Convolutional Neural Network (합성곱 신경망을 적용한 Optical Camera Communication 시스템 성능 분석)

  • Optical Camera Communication (OCC), known as the next-generation wireless communication technology, is currently under extensive research. The performance of OCC technology is affected by the communication environment, and various strategies are being studied to improve it. Among them, the most prominent method is applying convolutional neural networks (CNN) to the receiver of OCC using deep learning technology. However, in most studies, CNN is simply used to detect the transmitter. In this paper, we experiment with applying the convolutional neural network not only for transmitter detection but also for the Rx demodulation system. We hypothesize that, since the data images of the OCC system are relatively simple to classify compared to other image datasets, high accuracy results will appear in most CNN models. To prove this hypothesis, we designed and implemented an OCC system to collect data and applied it to 12 different CNN models for experimentation. The experimental results showed that not only high-performance CNN models with many parameters but also lightweight CNN models achieved an accuracy of over 99%. Through this, we confirmed the feasibility of applying the OCC system in real-time on mobile devices such as smartphones.

  • A Widget platform is acknowledged to be a next generation intelligent platform that is well suited to Web 2.0 and mobile convergence environments. With prospects of growth, examining users' perceptions of current widgets can be a valuable source of information in setting directions for Widget's future development. This study identifies user interface factors that affect widget usability and investigates a strategic approach to promoting the use of widgets by analyzing user's "intention to use" in connection with the identified interface factors. The experimental results show the consistency, intuition, minimal action, and personalization have a positive(+) effect on perceived ease of use and that personalization and design have a causal effect on perceived enjoyment. Inaddition, perceived ease of use has an influence on perceived enjoyment that, inturn, has a direct influence on intention to use. On the other hand, the hypothesis that perceived ease of use has a direct effect on intention to use was rejected.
