  • With the rapid development of MS technologiesy, the demands for a more sophisticated MS interpretation algorithm haves grown as well. We have developed a new protein fingerprinting method using a binomial distribution, (fBIND). With the fBIND, we improved the performance accuracy of protein fingerprinting up to the maximum 49% (more than MOWSE) and 2% than(at a previous binomial distribution approach studied by of Wool et al.) as compared to the established algorithms. Moreover, we also suggest a the statistical approach to define the significance of transcription factors and motifs in the identified proteins based on the Gene Ontology (GO). Abbreviations: fBIND, fingerprinting using binomial distribution; GO, Gene Ontology; MS, Mass Spectrometry; PMF, peptide mass fingerprinting; nr, nonredundant; SGD, Saccharomyces Genome Database

  • The chi-squared test statistic is usually employed for testing independence of two categorical variables in a two-way contingency table. It is well known that, under independence, the test statistic has an asymptotic chi-squared distribution under multinomial or product-multinomial models. For the case where both margins fixed, the sampling model of the contingency table is a multiple hypergeometric distribution and the chi-squared test statistic follows the same limiting distribution. In this paper, we study the difference between the small sample and large sample distributions of the chi-squared test statistic for the case with fixed margins. For a few small sample cases, the exact small sample distribution of the test statistic is directly computed. For a few large sample sizes, the small sample distribution of the statistic is generated via a Monte Carlo algorithm, and then is compared with the large sample distribution via chi-squared probability plots and Kolmogorov-Smirnov tests.

  • We consider estimations for the reliability in two independent variables with Pareto and uniform or exponential distributions. And then we compare the mean squared errors of two reliability estimators for each case. We also observe the skewness of densities of the ratio for each case.

  • We propose a new method of asymptotic inference on the odds ratio (or cross-product ratio) in $2{\times}2$ contingency table. Saddlepoint approximations to the conditional tail probability we used in this procedure. We assess the accuracy of the suggested method by comparing with the exact one. To obtain the exact values, we need very complicated calculations containing the cumulative probabilities of non-central hypergeometric distribution. The suggested method in this paper is very accurate even for small or moderate sample sizes as well as simple and easy to use. Example with a real data is also considered.

  • Recently the interval estimation of binomial proportions is revisited in various literatures. This is mainly due to the erratic behavior of the coverage probability of the well-known Wald confidence interval. Various alternatives have been proposed. Among them, the Agresti-Coull confidence interval, the Wilson confidence interval and the Bayes confidence interval resulting from the noninformative Jefferys prior were recommended by Brown et al. (2001). However, unlike the binomial distribution case, little is known about the properties of the confidence intervals in finite population sampling. In this note, the property of confidence intervals is investigated in anile population sampling.

  • This paper investigates an extended form Hurwitz-Lerch zeta function, as well as related integral images, ordinary and fractional derivatives, and series expansions, using the term extended beta function. We establish a connection between the extended Hurwitz-Lerch zeta function and the Laguerre polynomials. Furthermore, we present a probability distribution application of the extended Hurwitz-Lerch zeta function ζ𝛿,𝜇𝜈,λ. Several results, both known and new, are shown to follow as special cases of our findings.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to show current states of domestic Precision Guided Missile(PGM) by analyzing Live-fire test results using general methods to get the Confidence Levels. Methods: Live-fire test results were used to get Confidence Levels of PGM. The Confidence Levels were derived by two general methods. The first method was Binomial distribution and second was convergence of Hypergeometric distribution and Bayes' rule. Results: The results of this study are as follows; The more Live-fire tests of PGM are performed, the higher Confidence Level of PGM will be estimated. And the number of Live-fire tests are related to a unit price of PGM. This results means that the increase of live-fire test, which is useful data for preparation and evaluation of Development Tests / Operation Tests for PGMs, is only way to enhance the Confidence Levels of each PGMs. Conclusion: This study shows the relationship between the Live-fire tests and Confidence Levels of PGMs and it will be used on Live-fire Test & Evaluation of PGMs for reference.

  • The performance of Precision Guided Missiles is estimated by using hit probability only, which is calculated by hits against total amounts of fires in current domestic live-fire tests. It has a limitation in judging the performance of all produced Precision Guided Missiles by using the calculated hit probability according to the result of live-fire test, because the overall characteristics of the produced Precision Guided Missiles are not considered. In other words, a method is needed to estimate the confidence level which is more reliable than simply calculated hit probability according to the result of live-fire test for guaranteeing the hit probability of Precision Guided Missiles by certain level, which is already being operated or produced. This paper introduces a method to estimate the confidence level of Precision Guided Missiles by minimum live-fire tests using Hypergeometric distribution and Bayes' rule suitable for the characteristics of Precision Guided Missiles, which are small production, high costs and unable to check whether the missile hits the target or not before the live-fire tests. Also, this paper suggests a reasonable confidence level for showing the performance of the Precision Guided Missiles using the results of live-fire tests and domestic and foreign literature, when the result of live-fire tests will be decided.

  • The digital information of Land is very important as the basis of geo-spatial information system. And the necessity of it is also increasing. But these days, every other institute that is needing digital map is seperately digitalizing lsnd information. So we need the stadard of accuracy evaluation and the method of hypothesis test for it. In this study, we check the standards of foreign countries and compare and analyze with our country's. After doing it, we suggest the direction for standard of digital map and statistical methods for testing accuracy evaluation about total maps that is digitized. Using hypergeometric distribution for considering consumer risk and producer risk, the statistical test can be for deciding optimal sampling map numbers by the total map and the agreement of contacting parties.
