Solvent extraction experiments of cupric and cuprous chloride with Alamine336 have been performed from HCl solution. In order to identify the solvent extraction reaction, distribution diagram of cupric and cuprous species with HCl concentration was obtained by considering complex formation reaction and the activity coefficient of solutes with Pitzer equation. Analysis of the solvent extraction data by graphical method together with the distribution diagram of copper indicated that solvent extraction reaction of copper with Alamine336 depends on HCl concentration. In strong HCl solution of 3 and 5 M, ${CuCl_4}^{2-}$ and ${CuCl_3}^{2-}$ took part in the solvent extraction reaction as Cu(II) and Cu(I), respectively. When HCl concentration was 1 M, ${CuCl_2}^-$ was extracted into the organic phase in the case of Cu(I) while adduct formation between $Cu^{2+}$ and Alamine336 was responsible for the solvent extraction reaction of Cu(II).
In the our country, especially in Yeongil and Wolsung area, abundant authigenic zeolites are found from the tuffaceous sediments and volcanic rocks of Miocene age showing wide variation in their mineralogy and abundance from horizon to horizon. The principal zeolite species identified are clinopti-lolite. mordenite. heulandite. ferrierite, and erionite. etc. Zeolite minerals are widely used in many countries in the following applications; (a) in air separation adsorption processes; (b)as desiccants; (c)in inorganic building materials; (d)in papermaking; (e)in fertilizers; (f)as soilconditioners-this application is based upon the ability of the zeolite to ion exchange with soil nutrients; (g)in the treatment of radioactive wastes; and (h)as adsorbents for toxic gases, etc. In the present paper, using natural zeolite mordenite treated with IN hydrochloric acid or IN sodium chloride solution as column packings, separation characteristics of argon, nitrogen, carbon monoxide, and methane gases have been studied by gas chromatography. By the use of mordenite treated with hydrochloric acid solution, the tailing peak of methane showed from untreated mordenite was satisfactorily reduced, although it was difficult to separate it from carbon monoxide with a column activated at $300^{\circ}C$. Using a column activated at $350^{\circ}C$, methane could be separated from carbon monoxide easily but only carbon monoxide eluted as a bad defined peak. Mordenite treated with sodium chloride solution was generally similar to chromatograms obtained by using the untreated mordenite. Both the above chemical treatments of mordenite had little effect on the separations of argon and nitrogen. The separations and the HETP values obtained from natural zeolite mordenite treated with continuously hydrochloric acid and sodium chloride solutions were almost identical with those obtained with synthetic molecular sieve 5A zeolite. On the other hand, the efficiency of column was good in the range 20~3Oml/min of the carrier helium gas rate.

In this study, after measuring polarization characteristics of 97.3 wt% Ag, Au-Coated 97.3 wt% Ag (ACA) and 100 wt% Au wires in 1 wt% H2SO4 and 1 wt% HCl electrolytes at 25 ℃, corrosion rate and corrosion characteristics were comparatively analyzed. Comparing corrosion potential (ECORR) values in sulfuric acid solution, ACA wire had more than six times higher ECORR value than Au wire. Thus, it seems possible to use a broad applied voltage range of bonding wire for semiconductor packaging which ACA wire could be substituted for the Au wire. However, since the ECORR value of ACA wire was three times lower than that of the Au wire in a hydrochloric acid solution, it was judged that the use range of the applied voltage and current of the bonding wire should be considered. In hydrochloric acid solution, 97.3 wt% Ag wire showed the highest corrosion rate, while ACA and Au showed similar corrosion rates. Additionally, in the case of sulfuric acid solution, all three types showed lower corrosion rates than those under the hydrochloric acid solution environment. The corrosion rate was higher in the order of 97.3 wt% Ag > ACA > 100 wt% Au wires.
Inhibition effects of cysteine(Cys), methionine(Met), and histidine(His) on the corrosion of cobalt were investigated in deaerated 0.5 M HCl and 0.5 M $H_2SO_4$ solution. All the inhibition efficiency (IE) in the amino acids for the cobalt corrosion depended on the mixed inhibition. However, IE in the solution of $H_2SO_4$ depended more on the anodic and in the solution of HCl on the cathodic inhibition. Amino acid adsorption process on cobalt surface in the solution can be explained by modified Langmuir isotherm. The molecules of histidine dissolved in both of the solution were physically adsorbed due to the electrostatic interaction between the surface of {$Co-Cl^{-{\delta}}$} and the {$-NH_3{^+}$} or {$-NH^+=$} of His. However the other cases of adsorption in this investigation can be explained by chemical adsorption between the empty d-orbital of Co and the lone pair of electron in S-atom in Cys and Met.

This study aimed to evaluate surface morphology and resin tag penetration of resin infiltration into primary anterior teeth after enamel deproteinization with sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) prior to phosphoric acid ($H_3PO_4$) etching. Ninety primary anterior teeth with non-cavitated caries lesion were devided five groups according to enamel pretreatment as follows, group I-15% hydrochloric acid (HCl) 2min. ; group II-5.25% NaOCl 1min., 35% $H_3PO_4$ 1min. ; group III-5.25% NaOCl 2min., 35% $H_3PO_4$ 1min. ; group IV-5.25% NaOCl 1min., 35% $H_3PO_4$ 2min. ; group V-5.25% NaOCl 2min., 35% $H_3PO_4$ 2min. Fifteen teeth were examined etched surface structure using field emission-scanning electron microscope. Seventy five teeth were infiltrated with resin, maximum penetration depth and percentage penetration were analysed using dual fluorescence confocal microscopy. As the application time of NaOCl increased, ratio of enamel type I, II were increased. Percentage penetration (PP) was higher in group V than group II, III (p < 0.05). PP of group IV, V did not show any differences. Non-cavitated caries of primary anterior teeth can be treated with resin infiltration. Enamel deproteinization with NaOCl prior to 35% $H_3PO_4$ etching could be an alternative of 15% HCl etching in resin infiltration.
The effects of synthesis conditions on characteristics of the calcium-azo complex pigment, C.I. Pigment Red 57:1, were studied. It was mainly considered that the industrially required synthesis conditions for lowering electrical conductivity of the pigment solution keeping pigment quality such as particle size and color characteristics. Three parameters were chosen as control factors during the synthesis. The first was the amount of hydrochloric acid added to transform sodium nitrite into nitrous acid. The second was the amount of calcium chloride added to insolubilize the synthesized azo dye. The final factor was pH control during the coupling reaction. The electrical conductivity and pigment aggregate particle size were dependent on the amount of hydrochloric acid and calcium chloride. Higher HCl concentration gave brighter yellowish-red color because of smaller particle aggregate size and narrower size distribution. Amount of charged ions in the synthesis process might affect the "lake" formation resulting different particle aggregate size and color shade.
In order to exclude the effect of uneven distribution of gold in anode slime, the dissolution of gold and silver from the metal mixture was investigated in different systems, such as the mixture of hydrochloric acid and oxidizing reagents ($H_2O_2$, NaClO and $HNO_3$), thiosulfate and thiourea. In the mixture of HCl and either $HNO_3$ or $H_2O_2$, Au was completely dissolved but the leaching percentage of Ag was around 1%. In both thiosulfate and thiourea solution, gold was not dissolved at all. The presence of ferric ion in acidic thiourea solution showed a favorable effect on the leaching of silver but further study is necessary to elucidate the combined effect of ferric ion and sulfuric acid.
Clinoptilolite zeolite samples were treated with hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid of different strength and the adsorption characteristics and crystal structures of the original and acid-treated clinoptilolites were studied. By treating with hydrochloric acid, the adsorbed amount increased to 5-fold for nitrogen, to 3-fold for benzene, but for methanol no significant change was observed. As acid strength increased further, there were declines both in adsorption capacity and crystallinity. The results showed that the increase of adsorbed amount was caused by the rearrangement of the pore entrance and cation exchange. A method for determination of clinoptilolite content in natural mineral based on benzene adsorption on acid-treated sample is proposed. By this method, the original sample used in this study was found to contain approximately 40% of clinoptilolite. Using pulse technique in micro-catalytic reactor system, the catalytic activities of hydrochloric acid-treated clinoptilolites in cumene cracking and toluene disproportionation reactions were measured. For cumene cracking reaction, the maximum conversion was observed for the 0.5 N hydrochloric acid-treated sample. It is instructive to note that the maximum benzene adsorption was also observed for the sample treated with 0.5 N HCl. This suggest that the conversion rate was determined mainly by the rate of transport of reactants and the products through the pore structure. In the toluene disproportionation reaction, the same trend was observed. But the rate of deactivation was high for samples with strong acid sites. Since catalyst having higher activity was deactivated more easily, the conversion maximum was shifted to the sample treated with higher concentration of acid, -1N. The catalytic activity of $Ca^{2+} and La^{3+} ion exchanged samples for the toluene disproportion was much lower than that of acid-treated samples. Introduction of Ca^{2+} and La^{3+}$ into the pore structure apparently decreases the effective pore diameter of acid-treated clinoptilolite thus limiting the diffusion of reactants and products.
DIWS system was introduced to treat HCl gas from the scrubber of iron and steel industry according as the regulation of air quality is expected to be changed to 2ppm. pH of condensed water at stack was increased to 6.0. While 13.3ppm of inflow HCl was introduced to DIWS system, the average exhaust gas was 0.43ppm with 96.9% of removal efficiency. Compared with HCl data of TMS, the stable removal efficiency was shown in DIWS system, but the phenomenon of data hunting was also observed with different types of TMS apparatus.
In order to recover Pt from the hydrochloric acid leaching solution of spent catalysts, bench scale Karr reciprocating column was employed. At an optimum flow rate and vibration frequency, iron and Pt was completely extracted by using TBP and Aliquat 336. At the same vibration frequency, iron and Pt was completely stripped by HCl and $HClO_4$ after adjusting the flow rate. In the case of extraction of HCl from the raffinate with TEHA, it was difficult to maintain the stability of the column extractor. A comparison of the operation results between column extractor and mixer-settler is reported.
