  • Image super-resolution (SR) processing is of great value in the fields of digital image processing, intelligent security, film and television production and so on. This paper proposed a densely connected deep learning network based on cascade architecture, which can be used to solve the problem of super-resolution in the field of image quality enhancement. We proposed a more efficient residual scaling dense block (RSDB) and the multi-channel cascade architecture to realize more efficient feature reuse. Also we proposed a hybrid loss function based on L1 error and L error to achieve better L error performance. The experimental results show that the overall performance of the network is effectively improved on cascade architecture and residual scaling. Compared with the residual dense net (RDN), the PSNR / SSIM of the new method is improved by 2.24% / 1.44% respectively, and the L performance is improved by 3.64%. It shows that the cascade connection and residual scaling method can effectively realize feature reuse, improving the residual convergence speed and learning efficiency of our network. The L performance is improved by 11.09% with only a minimal loses of 1.14% / 0.60% on PSNR / SSIM performance after adopting the new loss function. That is to say, the L performance can be improved greatly on the new loss function with a minor loss of PSNR / SSIM performance, which is of great value in L error sensitive tasks.

  • This paper proposes a method to accelerate the evolution speed of individuals through hybrid reproduction of monogenesis and gamogenesis. Monogenesis as a reproduction method that bacteria or monad without sexual distinction divide into two individuals has an advantage for local search and gamogenesis as a reproduction method that individuals with sexual distinction mate and breed the offsprings has an advantages for keeping the diversity of individuals. These properties can be properly used for improvement of evolution speed of individuals in genetic algorithms. In this paper, we made relatively good individuals among selected parents to do monogenesis for local search and forced relatively bad individuals among selected parents to do gamogenesis for global search by increasing the diversity of chromosomes. The mutation probability for monogenesis was set to a lower value than that of original genetic algorithm for local search and the mutation probability for gamogenesis was set to a higher value than that of original genetic algorithm for global search. Experimental results with four function optimization problems showed that the performances of three functions were very good, but the performances of fourth function with distributed global optima were not good. This was because distributed global optima prevented individuals from steady evolution.

  • This paper proposes a new guidance law, which considers the Field of View (FOV) of the seeker when a missile has a strapdown seeker mounted instead of a gimbal seeker. When a strapdown seeker, which has a narrow FOV, is used for tracking a target, the FOV of the seeker is an important consideration for guidance performance metrics such as miss distance. We propose a new guidance law called hybrid guidance (HG) to address the shortcomings of conventional guidance laws such as proportional navigation guidance (PNG), which cannot maintain lock-on conditions against high speed targets due to the narrow FOV of the strapdown seeker. The aim of the HG law is to null miss distance and to maintain the look angle within the FOV of the strapdown seeker. In order to achieve this goal, we combine two guidance laws in the HG law. One is a PNG law to null the LOS rate, and the other is a sliding mode guidance (SMG) law derived to keep the look angle within the FOV by employing a Lyapunov-like function with a sliding mode control methodology. We also propose a method to switch these two guidance laws at certain look angles for better guidance performance.

  • This paper proposes an efficient hybrid fixed-point (FP) algorithm for improving performances of the independent component analysis (ICA) based on neural networks. The proposed algorithm is the FP algorithm based on secant method and momentum for ICA. Secant method is applied to improve the separation performance by simplifying the computation process for estimating the root of objective function, which is to minimize the mutual informations of the independent components. The momentum is applied for high-speed convergence by restraining the oscillation if the process of converging to the optimal solution. It can simultaneously achieve a superior properties of the secant method and the momentum. The proposed algorithm has been applied to the composite fingerprints and the images generated by random mixing matrix in the 8 fingerprints of $256\times{256}$-pixel and the 10 images of $512\times{512}$-pixel, respectively. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has better performances of the separation speed and rate than those using the FP algorithm based on Newton and secant method. Especially, the secant FP algorithm can be solved the separating performances depending on initial points settings and the nonrealistic learning time for separating the large size images by using the Newton FP algorithm.

  • Environment perception and three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction tasks are used to provide unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) with driving awareness interfaces. The speed of obstacle segmentation and surrounding terrain reconstruction crucially influences decision making in UGVs. To increase the processing speed of environment information analysis, we develop a CPU-GPU hybrid system of automatic environment perception and 3D terrain reconstruction based on the integration of multiple sensors. The system consists of three functional modules, namely, multi-sensor data collection and pre-processing, environment perception, and 3D reconstruction. To integrate individual datasets collected from different sensors, the pre-processing function registers the sensed LiDAR (light detection and ranging) point clouds, video sequences, and motion information into a global terrain model after filtering redundant and noise data according to the redundancy removal principle. In the environment perception module, the registered discrete points are clustered into ground surface and individual objects by using a ground segmentation method and a connected component labeling algorithm. The estimated ground surface and non-ground objects indicate the terrain to be traversed and obstacles in the environment, thus creating driving awareness. The 3D reconstruction module calibrates the projection matrix between the mounted LiDAR and cameras to map the local point clouds onto the captured video images. Texture meshes and color particle models are used to reconstruct the ground surface and objects of the 3D terrain model, respectively. To accelerate the proposed system, we apply the GPU parallel computation method to implement the applied computer graphics and image processing algorithms in parallel.

  • This article presents a closed loop control of DC series motor fed by DC chopper controlled by an PID controller based intelligent control using ANN (Artificial Neural Network). The PID-ANN controller performances are analyzed in both steady state and dynamic operating condition with various set speed and various load torque. Here two different motor parameters are taken for analysis (220V and 110V motor parameters). The static and dynamic performances are taken for comparison with conventional PID controller and existing work. The steady state stability analysis of the system also made using the transfer function model. The equation model is also done to analysis the performances by set speed change and load torque change. The proposed controller have better control over the conventional PID controller and the reported existing work. This system is initially simulated using MATLAB / Simulink and then experimental setup done using P89V51RD2BN microcontroller.

  • Modal characteristics of a cracked beam with a concentrated mass undergoing rotational motion are investigated in this paper. Hybrid deformation variables are employed to derive the equations of motion of a rotating cantilever beam. The flexibility due to crack, which is assumed to be open during the vibration, is calculated basing on a fracture mechanics theory. To obtain more general information, the equations of motion are transformed into a dimensionless form in which dimensionless parameters are identified. The effects of the dimensionless parameters related to the angular speed, the depth and location of a crack and the size and location of a concentrated mass on the modal characteristics of the beam are investigated numerically.

  • This paper presents the control of a Permanent Magnet Electric Variable Transmission (PM-EVT) for Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs). Consisting of two electric machines, the EVT realizes the power split function in an electromagnetic way rather than in a mechanical way. A specific PM-EVT has been designed for Toyota Prius II. The control scheme of the entire vehicle is deduced using the Energetic Macroscopic Representation methodology. The energy management strategy yields local control references. A specific attention is paid for the field weakening for wide speed range. Simulation results are provided to illustrate the EVT modeling and control.

  • Robust control for feedback control system is needed according to the highest precision of industrial automation. However, when a feedback control system has an effect of disturbance, it is very difficult to guarantee the robustness of control system. As a compensation method solving this problem, in this paper, Hybrid control method of feedback and Differential Supervisory controller is presented. A Feedback Controller is operated as a main controller, A Differential Supervisory Controller is a controller which operates only when some undesirable phenomena occur, e. g., when the error hits the boundary of constraint set. The robust control function of Differential Supervisory Controller, as a assistant controller is operated when state is unstable by disturbance. it demonstrated by speed control of motor.
