  • STT-RAM is attracting as a next generation Non-volatile memory for replacing cache memory with low leakage energy, high integration and memory access performance similar to SRAM. However, there is problem of write operations as the other Non_volatile memory. Hybrid cache memory using SRAM and STT-RAM is attracting attention as a cache memory structure with lowe power consumption. Despite this, reducing the leakage energy consumption by the STT-RAM is still lacking access to the Dynamic energy. In this paper, we proposed as energy management method such as a way-selection approach for hybrid L2 cache fo SRAM and STT-RAM and memory selection method of write/read operation. According to the simulation results, the proposed hybrid cache memory reduced the average energy consumption by 40% on SPEC CPU 2006, compared with SRAM cache memory.

  • In this paper, we propose a new incentive mechanism for hybrid access in cognitive femtocell networks. The purpose of the proposed incentive mechanism is to guarantee the QoS of macro user equipments (MUEs) and to increase femtocell capacity. MUEs channel condition report triggers bidding procedure by neighbor femtocell base stations (FBS). Macro base station (MBS) can offer some subchannels as rewards to encourage FBSs to reliably support its MUEs. Simulation results validate the effectiveness of our proposed scheme.

  • This research is to design an effective prefetching method required for DRAM-PCM hybrid main memory systems especially used for big data applications and massive-scale computing environment. Conventional prefetchers perform well with regular memory access patterns. However, workloads such as graph processing show extremely irregular memory access characteristics and thus could not be prefetched accurately. Therefore, this research proposes an efficient dynamical prefetching algorithm based on the regression method. We have designed an intelligent prefetch engine that can identify the characteristics of the memory access sequences. It can perform regular, linear regression or polynomial regression predictive analysis based on the memory access sequences' characteristics, and dynamically determine the number of pages required for prefetching. Besides, we also present a DRAM-PCM hybrid memory structure, which can reduce the energy cost and solve the conventional DRAM memory system's thermal problem. Experiment result shows that the performance has increased by 40%, compared with the conventional DRAM memory structure.

  • So far, the multiple path MINs to provide redundant paths in the traditional UPP MINs have been realized by adding additional hardware such as extra stages, duplicated data links, or multiple copies of sthe MIN. And the traditional MINs do not exploit locality: communication with all processor-memory paris takes the same amount of time. Also so far there has been little progress for exploiting locality of reference in MINs. In this paper, we present a new topology MIN, hybrid MIN that is constructed with 2N-3 SEs which is far fewer SEs than that of traditional MINs. Although the hybrid MIN is constructed with 2N-3 SEs, the hybrid MIN satisfies full access capability (FAC) and has redundant paths(but providing single path for 2 memory modules of each processor). Moreover the has redundant paths (but providing single path for 2 memory modules of each processor). Moreover the Hybrid MIN provides shortcut path between pairs which have frequent dat acommunication (locality of reference). Its performance under varing degrees of localized communication is analyzed.

  • In general, PCM (Phase Change Memory) is unsuitable as a main memory because it has limitations: high read/write latency and low endurance. However, the DRAM&PCM hybrid memory with the same level is one of the effective structures for a next generation main memory because it can utilize an advantage of both DRAM and PCM. Therefore, it needs an effective page management method for exploiting each memory characteristics dynamically and adaptively. So we aim reducing an access time and write count of PCM by using an effective page replacement. According to our simulation, the proposed algorithm for the DRAM&PCM hybrid can reduce the PCM access count by around 60% and the PCM write count by 42% given the same PCM size, compared with Clock-DWF algorithm.

  • This letter presents a hybrid conditional access system (CAS) for advanced terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting (AT-DMB). The proposed architecture is characterized by its use of a unified CAS channel and various communication networks for CAS message transmissions. We implement a prototype CAS based on the hybrid architecture, which improves the CAS message transmission efficiency greatly compared to the existing T-DMB CAS standard and supports various AT-DMB interlayer services more easily and efficiently.

  • We propose a hybrid multiple access (HMA) for uplink orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) systems, which combines two resource sharing schemes: a scheduling-based resource allocation (SBRA) scheme and a contentionbased resource allocation (CBRA) scheme. The SBRA scheme is appropriate for non-real time high data rate traffic, and, CBRA is appropriate for near-real time low/medium data rate traffic. Thus, the proposed HMA scheme supports various types of traffic. As a CBRA scheme, our proposed random frequency hopping (RFH)-OFDMA scheme was presented. Simulation results show that the proposed HMA yields the best performance among various resource allocation schemes for uplink OFDMA systems.

  • Data access characteristics can directly affect the efficiency of the system execution. This research is to design an accurate predictor by using historical memory access information, where highly accessible data can be migrated from low-speed storage (SSD/HHD) to high-speed memory (Memory/CPU Cache) in advance, thereby reducing data access latency and further improving overall performance. For this goal, we design a locally weighted linear regression prefetch scheme to cope with irregular access patterns in large graph processing applications for a DARM-PCM hybrid memory structure. By analyzing the testing result, the appropriate structural parameters can be selected, which greatly improves the cache prefetching performance, resulting in overall performance improvement.

  • Recently technological advancements have allowed visible, infrared and thermal imaging systems to be readily available for security and access control. Increasing applications of facial recognition for security and access control leads to emerging spoofing methodologies. To overcome these challenges of occlusion, replay attack and disguise, researches have proposed using multiple imaging modalities. Using infrared and thermal modalities alongside visible imaging helps to overcome the shortcomings of visible imaging. In this paper we review and propose hybrid feature extraction methods to combine data from multiple imaging systems simultaneously.

  • IEEE 802.15.3 HR-WPAN is designed to enable wireless connectivity of high-speed, low-power, low-cost multimedia-capable portable consumer electronic devices. For quality of service, the standard specifies the use of TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access). However, during low contention TDMA gives much lower channel utilization and higher delays than CSMA (Carrier Sensing Multiple Access) because in TDMA, a node can transmit only during its scheduled time slots whereas in CSMA, nodes can transmit at any time as long as there is no contention. By mixing CSMA and TDMA, Hybrid MAC becomes more robust to timing failures, time-varying channel conditions, slot assignment failures and topology changes than a stand-alone TDMA.
