  • This paper presents hull form design details and performance characteristics of the SWATH ship 'SEON JIN' built as an underwater test support ship. The hull form is developed systematically varing sets of 11 form parameters which define a unique hull under waterline. Using this geometry variation scheme we have generated a number of alternatives and selected the final hull which fulfills the design objectives and matches the design constraints. After selecting the final hull form we have investigated performances thoroughly through model tests, and confirmed through sea trials that the performance goals be achieved.

  • This paper provides a new method of initializing neurons used in self-organizing neural networks and sequencing input nodes for applying to Euclidean traveling salesman problem. We use a general property that in any optimal solution for Euclidean traveling salesman problem, vertices located on the convex hull are visited in the order in which they appear on the convex hull boundary. We composite input nodes as number of convex hulls and initialize neurons as shape of the external convex hull. And then adapt input nodes as the convex hull unit and all convex hulls are adapted as same pattern, clockwise or counterclockwise. As a result of our experiments, we obtain l∼3 % improved solutions and these solutions can be used for initial solutions of any global search algorithms.

  • This study was intended to research the dyeing with natural walnut hull extracts over cotton, flax, rayon, wool, nylon and silk. We studied the dyeing conditions and mordant effect, and observed dyeability. The result are as follows: 1. In the dyeability with natural walnut hull extracts, protein and polyamide fiber has more dye uptake rather than cellulose fiber. 2. The optimum condition in the dyeing with natural walnut hull extracts was at $90^{\circ}C$, 12%(o.w.b) concentration in 90 mins. 3. In the case of the dyeability by repeated dyeing number, the dyeability of good dyeability fiber is improved in the first or second dyeing, but that of bad dyebality fiber is improved when it is dyed more repeatedly. 4. In the dyeablity treated with mordants, Al, Sn, and Mg don't have any differences, but Cu and Fe have some difference. The color of Fe mordant is green and the color of Cu mordant is blue. 5. In the case of the color fastness with mordant treatment, nylon is better than silk and wool in color fastness to washing but silk is better than nylon and wool in color fastness to light.

  • The Domestic boat has been manufactured by hull form of typical foreign boat. In this study, design environment for polyethylene boat is analysed to create new hull form of the boat and design elements are extracted from existing boats and consumer preferences. Key elements in polyethylene boat design are three words "semi-classic, urban and sporty". Hull resistance and engine power for new developed boat can be expected by Orca 3D program. This result indicates that engine power of the boat is much less than that of commercial boat.

  • Hull form development and Anti-rolling tank of G/T 360ton class fishery patrol ship was carried out in the CWC at Chosun university, cooperatively with WJFEL(The West Japan Fluid Engineering Laboratory). Same size of 15 knots class fishery patrol ship was selected as a parent form(Model number: CU-015), and modified fore and after body hull form under the slightly lengthened to be suitable for the operation at 20 knots. This paper investigated for a rolling performance and an effective using method when fishery patrol ship was equipped with anti-rolling tank. On several occasions of rolling test was made reference to design data of a similar ship. Although the hull form was highly constrained in being limited to modification of a parent hull form, significant wave resistance improvement was made.

  • The physicochernical properties of Korean buckwheat starches were investigated. The results were as follows; 1. Water binding capacity of kangwon hull buckwheat starch was 106.55% and that of Kangwon rice buckwheat was 99.35%. 2. The pattern of change in swelling power of hull buckwheat starch for increasing temperature started to increase at 60$^{\circ}C$ and increased rapidly from 80$^{\circ}C$, and that of rice buckwheat increased slowly from 60$^{\circ}C$ to 90$^{\circ}C$. 3. The ranges of gelatinization temp. of hull buckwheat and rice buckwheat starches were 70~75$^{\circ}C$ and 75~85$^{\circ}C$, respectively. 4. The blue value of hull buckwheat starch and rice buckwheat starch were 6.25 and 0.62, respectively. 5. The alkali number of hull buckwheat starch and rice buckwheat starch were 1.28 and 3.68 respectively. 6. The amylose content of hull buckwheat and rice buckwheat starch were 32.26% and 38.09%. 7. Periodate oxidation of hull buckwheat starch resulted that amylose had me average molecular weight of 103, 004, degree of polymerizatlon of 572 and amylopectin had me degree of branching of 7.64, glucose unit per segment of 13.09, and periodate oxidation of rice buck wheat starch resulted mat amylose had me average molecular weight of 125, 654, degree of polymerization of 698 and amylopectin had degree of branching of 6.59, glucose unit per segment of 15.16.

  • This paper addresses the problem of B-spline surface interpolation of scattered points for a hull form design, which are not arbitrarily scattered, but can be arranged in a series of contours permitting variable number of points in the contours. A new approach that allows different parameter value for each point on the same contour has been adopted. The usefulness and quality of the interpolation has been demonstrated with some experimental results.

  • The minimum multicut problem on a cycle is to find a multicut on an undirected cycle such that the sum of weights is minimized, which is known to be polynomially solvable. This paper shows that there exists a compact polyhedral description of the set of feasible solutions to the problem whose number of variables and constraints is O($\upsilon\kappa$).

  • By Mazur's theorem, the convex hull of a relatively compact subset a Banach space is also relatively compact. But this is not true any more in the space of fuzzy numbers endowed with the Hausdorff-Skorohod metric. In this paper, we establish a necessary and sufficient condition for which the convex hull of K is also relatively compact when K is a relatively compact subset of the space F(R$\^$k/) of fuzzy numbers of R$\^$k/ endowed with the Hausdorff-Skorohod metric.

  • A name of 'Sea Ship' and 'River Ship' had been used based on the comprehension for the difference of ship's hull form in Chosun period. We can find a number of literature describing the situation which transferred the cargo from Sea Ship to River Ship because Sea Ship could not go upstream in the river of which the current is fast and the water depth is low. The reason why Sea Ship could not go upstream was that the bottom of Sea Ship was narrow, it means the non-flat bottom. Generally Sea Ship had short length, wide breadth, so L/B of 2.2∼3.0, and high draft and depth. River Ship has long length, narrow breadth, so L/B of 5.0∼6.3, and low draft and the flat bottom in order to adapt to the low water depth of the river.
