The purpose of this study are to examine the types and sources of information used for housing choices and to figure out the related factors. Data are collected through self-administered questionnaires designed for this study, and the sample consists of 396 households in Pusan and Ulsan. The purposes are accomplished through descriptive statistics and multiple regression analyses. Based on the results of analysis, housing information are divided into four specific types : economic. technical, housing unit, and neighborhood information. It is found that housing unit information including housing quality and economic information such as housing prices are identified as the most important ones for current and future housing choices. The most useful sources of housing information utilized for current housing are friends, relatives and neighbors. In addition, model house, real estate office, newspaper and adverizement are the another useful sources for housing information. Among them, the model house is the most helpful one for variety of housing information. Young households and those with a head whose occupation is professional/managerial tend to have higher recognition of the importance of housing information than do the other groups. The households currently living in small apartment and with a young eldest child are likely to have higher recognition of the importance of econimic information. Tenure type, the occupation of the household head, the age of the eldest child, and length of residence are the significant explanatory variables of the recognition of the importance of housing unit information.

The aim of this study is to find out the solutions for an improvement of residential environment through the relation between satisfaction of residential environment and amenity awareness of the local residents in Chonnam Mokpo city. For this purpose, it is conducted a questionnaire survey of 203 local residents on the attributes of residential environment. The satisfaction factors of residential environment consist of 8 types of factors such as housing structure, stability, green tract of an avenue, convenience, housing environment, sanitary conditions, waterside facilities, and familiarity. It is analyzed that there is a great difference of the satisfaction between new town dwellers and old town dwellers in three satisfaction factors of a housing structure, convenience, and housing environment. The attributes of amenity awareness consist of 6 types of factors such as fitness, comfort, intimacy, vitality, naturalness, and brilliance. The new town dwellers have a high satisfaction in fitness and vitality factors, and the old town dwellers have a high satisfaction in naturalness factors. Through the analysis to the importance on the satisfaction factors of residential environment related to amenity awareness, it is founded that intimacy factor have importance in order of stability, familiarity, green tract of an avenue and sanitary conditions. Naturalness factor have importance in order of stability, waterside facilities, familiarity and green tract of a avenue. Fitness factor have importance in order of housing structure and sanitary conditions. Comfort factor have importance in order of stability, housing environment and sanitary conditions. And vitality factor have importance in order of housing environment, convenience and green tract of an avenue. Therefore, it is needed that the development plan of residential environment take into consideration in accordance with the importance on the satisfaction of residential environment in Mokpo city.

This study aims to propose alternatives to improve the residential environmental of National Rental Housing for Elderly. To proceed the study, we draw elements of plan for apartment housing for Elderly through literature review, explore actual conditions of residential environment on National Rental Housing for Elderly in Ha-dong, Kim-Jae, do IPA analysis using survey data, and finally, propose prior alternatives for the improvement of National Rental Housing for Elderly based on IPA analysis results. In the results, a lot of the planning elements of apartment housing for Elderly was applied for this site. But living conditions of residents need to be improved based on the result that importance (3.55) is higher than performance (3.18). this study is critical in drawing the direction of plan and improvement alternative by surveying actual residents, and will be used as the source for the National Rental Housing for Elderly project.

This study was designed to identify the problems in teaching housing course at secondary level. The main tasks of Investigation were to: (1) identify appropriate housing concepts to be taught at secondary school, (2) determine the Kinds of media and methods used for teaching housing course at secondary school. The questionnaire was divided Into three sections: (1) the teacher`s background, (2) the teacher`s opinion regarding the importance of various housing topics to teaching. (3) what type of media and methods were used by teachers. Data were collected In Pusan during November 1959. The Sample, 150Home Economics teacher was randomly selected from secondary school list in Pusan. Responses from 122 Home Economics teachers, were processed by the S.P.S.S. computer program. and N.P.E.R.C using for frequency counts and percentages to analyze the data from all three sections of questionnaire. One-way Analysis of Variance and Newman-kuels Multiple Comparison test were used to reject or accept the hypotheses. The major findings were: (1) there were some difference between teachers` opinions regarding the importance of various housing topics to teach and teachers actural practice of teaching housing concepts and topics, (2) teachers taught housing concepts which were important to teach by their opinion, even though those concepts were neglected in textbook, (3) teachers did not use a various of media and methods for their teaching housing class, (4) the important reasons given why the teachers for not using the various media and methods were because of undesirable educational situations, and (5) there were some significant differences between teachers` background and teachers` opinion regarding importance of teaching topics in housing class at secondary school, using media and methods.

The aims of this study are to establish a mode of housing life style that meet the demands of families living in big cities, and the contribute to the development of a better housing life style pattern by considering metropolitan residents' choice of housing and basic concepts of their behavioral patterns. The results of this study were as follows: 1. Value orientation of family life was divided into value orientation of family and value orientation of housing. Value orientation of family was constituted of four factors such as 'harmony', 'leisure and hobbies', 'individual development and its support' , 'education' . Value orientation of housing is constituted of three factors such as 'physical characteristics of house' , '\`environmental condition', 'socio-economic conditions of housing'. The comprehensive life values were constituted of six factors such as 'the importance of communal family', 'the importance of housing decoration and housing life benefits', 'the importance of security and holding environment' , 'the importance of familial harmony', 'the importance of privacy', 'the importance of convenience and natural environment'. Based on three factors, were found to be fine types of value orientation of family life which were 'pursue healthy of family', 'comfort of family', 'clean environment', 'convenient environment', and 'harmonious relationship among family members'. Variables influencing the value orientation of family life were property and price of housing. 2. Consumption propensity when buying house, furniture and durables were constituted of four factors which were propensity to 'beauty', 'fashion', 'tradition and symbol', and 'pragmatic use'. Based on these factors, there were found to be four types of consumption propensity when buying house, furniture and durables which were 'fashion', 'tradition and symbol', 'beauty', and 'pragmatic use'. Variables influencing spending habits were found to be objective social class (SES), types of residence, wife's educational background, and price of housing. 3. Propensity to using space were constituted of three factors which were 'convenience', 'politeness and social grace', and 'housekeeping'. Based on these factors, there were found to be three types of propensity to using space which were 'individuality', 'convenience', and 'politeness and housekeeping'. Variables influencing propensity to use of space were found to be objective social class (SES), wife's educational background, types of homeownership and price of housing 4. According to this study, there were found to be six patterns of housing life style: 1) family that seeks formalist life, 2) family that seeks harmonious life, 3) family that seeks active healthy life, 4) family that combine various factors, 5) family that seeks convenience, 6) family that stresses environment.

The present study was compared and discussed with focus on the evaluation for the Importance Level of Design Elements and the Case Study Designing with respect to Environmental-Friendly Apartment Housing. It was examined that there were some differences between the result of Importance Level and the suggested details from Case Study. From the result of Importance Level, evaluation was highly given on the planned principles regarding effective utilization of landuse, ecological principle and reflection of varities, while from the result of Case Study on the planned principles regarding health of residents and amenity. Accordingly the present development method and the fundamental understanding on Environmental -Fiendly Apartment housing should be changed on the basis of the results as above.

This study aims to estimate the perception of mothers of infant and toddler on the child-rearing environment and compare the recognition of parents who live in APT and multi-family housing. This study investigates the mothers in order to survey the level of importance and satisfaction on the neighborhood environment factors for child-rearing. The result of questionnaire is analyzed by Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA). According to the result of IPA by housing types, it was found that the improvement of pedestrian environment, separation of pedestrian and vehicle, natural environment and playground is required particularly in the multi-family housing area. the mothers need soundproofing of house and management of unwanted facilities in neighborhood in common. In the apartment, improvement of child-care facilities and children's library is required. The results of IPA on the mothers of infant and toddler may be important foundation for future strategies for child-rearing environment improvement.

The purpose of this study was to learn the lifestyles of college students based on the green building certification system. The importance for environmentally friendly housing patterns will be changed and predicted to provide the basis for future residential development. The subjects of this research were 706 college students living in Jeonbuk province. The results of this research were as follows. College students' lifestyles were measured by self-confidence, family orientation, leisure orientation, economic orientation, and a digital directivity by factor analysis. In eco-friendly residential ratings, as the results of analysis according to the land use, the transportation, the energy resources, the environment load, the ecosystems, the interior environment, and the soundproofing of the interior environment came out to be higher than other factors. While coming out to be higher in the lower group in a digital directivity, the life style of the college students mostly came to be higher in the average of importance for environment-friendly housing. This result means that the college students want environment-friendly housing while attaching importance to the convenience of daily life, especially a digital directivity of housing. Thus, when we plan residences in the future, we will have to reflect the environment-friendly housing on the basis of the results of this research, and improve the environment which is contributing to help form college students' characters well.
