This study examined household food insecurity and the associations of food insecurity with socioeconomic conditions, food behaviors, and nutrient intakes among 458 older adults(mean age=$73.2{\pm}4.5$) from 5 clusters of low-income areas in Seoul, Korea. Using an adapted version of the USDA short form household food insecurity scale, 63.4% of the households were food insecure(40.7% for food insecure without hunger and 22.7% for food insecure with hunger). The proportion of household was lower on the items measured more severe level of food insecurity. Food insecurity was linearly and negatively associated with food expenditure, food secured period and the degree of nutrition management skills, health status and depression. Food secure older adults had mere of energy and other nutrients from animal resources(riboflavin and animal protein, fat and calcium), but less of carbohydrates than those from the food insecure households. These results suggest household food insecurity measures used in this study was valid as well as food insecurity was prevalent and an important indicator of nutrition well-being among low income elderly persons.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the preference trend of children in the child-care centers in relation to certain environmental factors such as size of the residing town. This evaluation was conducted using questionnaire survey where the mother of each child was required to complete a preference questionnaire including 83 food items. Statistical data analysis was completed using SAS package program. The results of this survey showed the followings : 1. Generally, the preference level of the children living in large cities were higher than of medium cities except in case of vegetables, while the preference level of the children living in large cities were higher than those of rural area except in case of hard-boiling(jorim) and vegetables. The subjects showed high preferences to bulgogi(4.53), pork-cutlet(4.52), fried chicken(4.51), jajangmyone(4.45), kimgui(4.43), roasted fish(4.31), roasted ham(4.13). 2. There was a tendency that a la carte, bread and noodles received higher preference scores. Items of Korean style soup attained higher preference scores than stew(ggigae). The preference scores of fired, broiled or pan-fried items(jun) were higher than those of other items such as seasoned vegetables(namool). 3. The preference scores of children (routinely or occasionally) skipping breakfast or supper were generally low. There was no significant difference according to the existence of mother's job except in case of steamed or pan-fried items, provided that the preference scores of the size of the monthly income of the household except stew, provide that the preference scores of the children whose household had lower income were slightly higher in general.
This study aims to get basic data for an objective searching examination into the value of household production through grasping the relation between homemaker's consciousness or attitude on it and the socio-economic related variables in today, the economic period of currency exchange. the approach of this study depends on the consultation of concerned references and social survey by questionnaire to explore the homemaker's consciousness. Homemakers with children over six years old were selected as object and stratified, considering each age of them and variety of socio-economic status. 450 homemakers among 600 selected with collecting the data. But only 353 samples are helpful for this analysis. They were calculated by frequency, percentage and the mean value for general characteristics of the families, and the noteworthy degree applied the Chi-square(x2) was measured to investigate the correlation between the related variables and each of items. The data was treated by the SPSS program of Computer Center, Korea Science Institute. The conclusions of this study are as follows; 1) The majority of homemakers have had affirmative consciousness on the household production as well as strong sense of responsibility in doing their duties. But the higher educational background or the standard of living are, the more want they to have a job also have a tendency to have leave the household production to others. 2)The reason that housemaker does not have a job is for being faithful to home life. This study was carried out to investigate dropping shock of household electric appliances during materials handling. Microwave oven($18{\ell}$), TV(16") and washing machine(6.2kg) were singled out as the study items. From the results of dropping test by KS A 1026(General Rules of Performance Testing for Packaged Freights), relative equations were gained as follow : y=0.0863x+10.032 for microwave oven, y=0.136x+7.85 for TV and y=0.214x+5.8 for washing machine (where y is G-factor and x is Dropping height). The maximum values of dropping shock during materials handling were measured to be $11{\sim}14G$ for microwave oven, $12{\sim}15G$ for TV and $10{\sim}12G$ for washing machine. The maximum shocks of microwave oven, TV and washing machine during materials handling were corresponding to dropping shocks of dropping height 45.98cm, 52.57cm and 28.97cm by KS A 1026.

Mothers in such stressful situations use various coping patterns. The purpose of this study was as follows : to develop instruments that can be used for measuring the stress and coping patterns of mothers with cerebral palsy children, and to test a hypothetical model on the relationship between the mother's stress, her coping patterns and the variable affecting the stress and coping patterns. The results of this study can be summarized as follows : 1. The stress scale was composed of 44 items and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ was .94, and the coping pattern scale was composed of 19 items and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ was .80. The mean score of stress scale was 136.12 out of a total of 220, and the mean score of the coping scale was 72.87 in a total of 95. 2. In test of the hypothetical model, it was found that extra-care demand, the support of the husband, the degree of handicap, health status and self-esteem had statistically significant influence on the mother's stress(r=.285, -.262, -.133, -.126). And the support of the husband, formal support, informal support, and economic status were found to have statitically significant influence on the mother's coping patterns(r=.412, .178, .178, .138).
Purpose: This study was conducted in order to develop and test a measurement for assessment of stress of female marriage immigrants in Korea. Methods: Forty four preliminary items were initially developed based on literature review and focus group interviews. Those items were evaluated by experts for content validity, resulting in six factors and 26 items. The 26 items were translated into Chinese, Vietnamese, and English by professional translators and were reviewed by native speakers of each language who are fluent in Korean. For testing validity and reliability, data were collected from 323 female marriage immigrants residing in five regions in Korea. Results: As a result of item analysis, 25 items were selected. Factor analysis yielded 21 items in four factors, including 1) household economic 2) parenting and discrimination 3) cultural and 4) emotional stressors, explaining 61.3% of the total variance of stress of female marriage immigrants in Korea. The Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient was .903 for the overall instrument and .692-.892 for four factors. Conclusion: Measurement of stress for female marriage immigrants in Korea has high validity and reliability. Therefore, this measurement may be utilized for systematic assessment of stress and for identification of areas of support for female marriage immigrants in Korea.
