Currently, social demands for long span building structures are increasing due to architectural planning purposes and economic efficiency. As a result, lighter board-type voiding materials were suggested. With the use of board-type voiding materials, a slab is able to become light weight and convenient. This process efficiently eliminates concrete where it is not required; considerably diminishing dead weight while maintaining the flexural strength of the slab. The reduction in concrete also allows for overall cost reductions and design flexibility. Also it can be ease with fixing the voided material that is composed of one body form. Although board-type voiding materials are ideal, the top and bottom concrete plates lack integrity. Because of this, test results show horizontal cracking towards the tops and bottoms of the concrete columns, or webs, connecting the slabs. The key to correcting this problem is to increase the shear strength. In order to increase the shear strength of the structure, horizontal shear area must increase. R70(100)-D-F has the largest horizontal shear area as it also shows stronger strength. As a result, shear strength ($V_{nh}$) is dependent on the horizontal shear area (N). $V_{nh}={\alpha}{\times}0.16{\sqrt{f_{ck}}}{\frac{{\pi}D^2}{4}}{\times}N({\alpha}=1.8125)$. The web columns have a shear span to depth ratio (a/d) that is less than 2; which classifies it as a deep beam. In this case, however, the shear strength of the deep beams may be as much as 2 to 3 times greater than that predicated conventional equations developed for members of normal proportions. As a result, ${\alpha}$ is suggested as an extra coefficient in the equation for shear strength ($V_{nh}$).

The objective of this experimental study was to understand the effect of horizontal shear bar on the shear behavior of R.C. deep beams. Therefore, in the test program, the horizontal shear bar ratio($\rho_{sh}$) and shear span-to-overall depth ratio(a/h) are considered as two main variables. Test results indicate that for deep beams with a/h equal to 1.0, horizontal shear bar is less efficient in restricting the diagonal crack width development and enhancing the ultimate shear strength. So, it can be concluded that shear resistance of horizontal shear bar is related to a/h rather than clear span-to-effective depth ratio($l_{n}$/d) recommended in ACI code.

Composite construction of precast concrete and cast-in-place concrete is currently used for the modular construction. In this case, the use of steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) could be beneficial for precast concrete. However, the shear strength of such composite members (SFRC and cast-in-place concrete) is not clearly defined in current design codes. In the present study, steel fiber composite beam tests were conducted to evaluate the effect of steel fibers on the composite members. The test variables are the area ratio of SFRC and shear reinforcement ratio. The test results showed that when minimum horizontal shear reinforcement was used, the shear strength of composite beams increased in proportion to the area ratio of steel fiber reinforced concrete. However, because of the steel fiber, the composite beams were susceptible to horizontal shear failure. Thus, minimum horizontal shear reinforcement is required for SFRC composite beams.

This study investigates the horizontal shear behavior of an interface between precast concrete (PC) and topping concrete(RC), and evaluates the horizontal based on the investigations by the experimental. Horizontal shear strength in connected surface is determined by the roughness an interface and the shear reinforcement or not. In this study, the main experimental parameters are the shear reinforcement types in the shape of loop-type and lattice-type, rebar spacing. A total of four specimens were shear strength tested and manufactured. As a result, the horizontal shear strength of reinforced connected surface was found to be controlled by deformation in vertical direction. Comparison of reinforcement shape, the mean initial crack load loop type specimens, the average maximum load and the junction of the average in terms of initial stiffness, respectively 33.7%, 45.9% and 55.2% were large enough. Evaluation results for shear strength equation of existing standard domestic, the loop-type reinforced 2.32 to 4.23 times, lattice-type reinforced 1.65 to 3.06 times appears to be higher. Behavior of interface or strength of structural design criteria was fairly safe side. It does not have any problems in the applied field is considered.
Currently, deep beams are designed according to ACT 318-99 equations derived from experimental data for slender beams with normal-strength concrete. In addition, there is relatively limited information on high-strength concrete deep beams with shear reinforcement. The purpose of this experimental study is to investigate the shear behavior of high-strength concrete deep beams and to grasp the conservatism of ACI shear design provisions. Experimental results on the shear behavior of 22 deep beams under two equal symmetrically placed point loads are reported. compressive strength of concrete cylinder was 800kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$, and main variables were vertical and horizontal shear reinforcement and shear span-to-overall depth ratio (а/h). Test results showed that for high-strength concrete deep beams with shear span-to-overall depth ratio exceeding 0.75, the vertical shear reinforcement more effectively resisted the shear load than horizontal shear reinforcement. In high-strength concrete deep beams, ACI shear design provisions tended to underestimate the effect of strut-tie action and vertical shear reinforcement and overestimate the ones of horizontal shear reinforcement. Based on the experimental results of high-strength concrete deep beams and shear friction theory, this study modified the equations on the shear capacity specified by the ACI provisions.
Due to lack of information, current design methods to calculate bearing strength of connections are tacit about cases in which hybrid coupled walls have connection details of stud bolts and horizontal ties. In this study, analytical study was carried out to develop model for calculating the connections strength of embedded steel section. The bearing stress at failure in the concrete below the embedded steel coupling beam section is related to the concrete compressive strength and the ratio of the width of the embedded steel coupling beam section to the thickness of the shear walls. Experiments were carried out to determine the factors influencing the bearing strength of the connection between steel coupling beam and reinforced concrete shear wall. The test variables included the reinforcement details that confer a ductile behavior in connection between steel coupling beam and shear wall, i. e., the auxiliary stud bolts attached to the steel beam flanges and the transverse ties at the top and the bottom steel beam flanges. In addition, additional test were conducted to verify the strength equations of the connection between steel coupling beam and reinforced concrete shear wall. The results of the proposed equations in this study are in good agreement with both our test results and other test data from the literature.
Results of an experimental investigation on the behavior and ultimate shear capacity of 27 reinforced concrete Transfer (deep) beams are summarized. The main variables were percent longitudinal(tension) steel (0.28 to 0.60%), percent horizontal web steel (0.60 to 2.40%), percent vertical steel (0.50to 2.25%), percent orthogonal web steel, shear span-to-depth ratio (1.10 to 3.20) and cube concrete compressive strength (32 MPa to 48 MPa).The span of the beam has been kept constant at 1000 mm with100 mm overhang on either side of the supports. The result of this study shows that the load transfer capacity of transfer (deep) beam with distributed longitudinal reinforcement is increased significantly. Also, the vertical shear reinforcement is more effective than the horizontal reinforcement in increasing the shear capacity as well as to transform the brittle mode of failure in to the ductile mode of failure. It has been observed that the orthogonal web reinforcement is highly influencing parameter to generate the shear capacity of transfer beams as well as its failure modes. Moreover, the results from the experiments have been processed suitably and presented an analytical model for design of transfer beams in high-rise buildings for estimating the shear capacity of beams.

In this study, nine reinforced concrete infilled frames involved bare frames were tested during vertical and cyclic loads simultaneously. This test programs were carried to investigate the horizontal strength and the crack propagation in variance with hoop reinforcement ratio. All specimens were modeling in one-third scale size. In this experimental program structural performance of reinforced concrete shear wall were focus at connection types. Based on the test results, the following conclusions are made. In the boundary column member of reinforced concrete shear wall, increasing the ratio of hoop bar in two or three times, in the fully babel type, the shear and horizontal strength of specimens were increased 1.1-1.2 times than that of fully rigid frame. And infilled shear wall specimen were increased 1.17-1.27 times than that. Fully rigid babel type shear wall specimens were increased 5.7~8.0 times, and infilled shear wall specimens were increased about 4.0~5.6 times than that of infilled shear wall specimens.

Reinforced concrete deep beams with conpressive strengths in the range of 500kg/$\textrm{cm}^3$~750kg/$\textrm{cm}^3$ were tested under two-point loding. All the beams were singly reinforced with main steel percent $\rho$=1.29% and with nominal percentage of vertical shear reinflrcements $\rho_v$=0.26%. According to shear-span to depth ratio a/d. The beams were tested for four horizontal shear reinforcement ratio $\rho_h$, ranging from$\rho_h$=0.0 to $\rho_h$=0.53. The results indicate that the horizontal shear reinforcements of beams have an effect on failure load and on ductile behavior of deep beams. The test results are compared with predictions based on the current ACI Building Code. The computated reports in the paper will have designers assured for design of high strength concrete deep beam. Though ACI Code is relatively conservative and tend to non-economical, ACI Code has the merit that is easy to use.

A direct shear member resists external forces through the shear transfer of reinforcing bars placed at the concrete interface. The current concrete structural design code uses empirical formulas based on the shear friction analogy, which is applied to the horizontal shear of concrete composite beams. However, in the case of a member with a large amount of reinforcing bars, the shear strength obtained through the empirical formula is lower than the measured value. In this paper, the limit state of newly constructed composite beams on an existing concrete girder is defined using stress field theory, and material constitutive laws are applied to gain horizontal shear strength while considering the tension-stiffening and softening effects of concrete struts. A simplified method of calculating the shear strength is proposed, which was validated by comparing it with the related design code provisions. As a result, it was confirmed that the method generally shows a similar tendency to the experimental results when the shear reinforcing bar yields, unlike the regulations of the design code, where differences in the predicted value of shear strength occur according to the shear reinforcement ratio.
