This study investigated children's interests in learning English, affected by educational activities in and out of institutes, and mothers' perceptions regarding early childhood English education. We recruited, 253 mothers of 3- to 5-year-old children in either general kindergartens or English immersion institutes. They answered questions on socioeconomic status, perceived interest in English by their children, their perceptions regarding early childhood English education, and English education outside institutes. In addition, 42 English teachers provided information within institutes such as class time per week, teacher-pupil rate, and language use policy during class. The collected data were analyzed through SPSS 22 for frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, independent t-test, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis. The major findings are as follows. First, the two groups were in distinct learning environment. Second, mothers' perceptions and outside-institute activities were significantly different between the two groups. Third, the English interests of children at both institutes were influenced by mothers' worries and at-home English interactions. Fourth, education within institutes did not affect both group's English interests. Fifth, private education and socioeconomic status did not affect both group's English interests. Lastly, only the children's interests in English immersion institutes were affected by gender and mother's perceived necessities. Focusing children's interests, this study helps in understanding young children's affective aspects regarding learning English. The findings are expected to be a guideline for each home and institute to increase children's interest in learning English.

The purpose of this study is to offer essential information related to early childhood education and care policy. Using the Korea Labor and Income Panel Study(KLIPS) Vol.5., this study analyzed sociodemographic factors that decide the use and type of institute for early childhood education and care. The following results are obtained: First, it is not easy for young children under three years old to use education and care institutes because of their preference for home care. Second, the mother's job status affects the child's use of child care centers and private institutes for education except for the using of early child education centers. Third, the affecting main factors for the use of child care centers are quite similar to critical factors for use of the private institute for education. Thus, young children using the private institute for education could be interpreted as coming from a low-income class compared with the children using the early child education centers.
This study was conducted to assess need for education on the infection control by examining the knowledge on infection control in home care of the home care trainees who had completed an infection control course. Using 64 items questionnaire. home care trainees of eight home care education institutions who took classes related with infection control. The level of knowledge evaluated subjectively was 4.24point (full mark: 5 point). The correct answer rates for handwashing and gloving. cleaning patients' rooms. preventing sharp injury, preventing exposure to potential infectious agents, home care bag technique were 84.5% 86.4% 70.7% 65.3% 76.2% representatively. For the knowledge on the infection control principles to prevent catheter related infection, indwelling catheter related infection, tracheal tube related pneumonia. L-tube related infection, oxygen therapy related infection. and wound infection were 62.8% 27.8% 39.1% 87.8% 76.5% 80.5% representatively. The correct answer rates varied depending upon the educational institutes (p< = .0001), educational levels (p= .001), workplaces (p<.0001), and the experience of infection control education (p= .001). Considering these results. a standardized curriculum must be developed and implemented after analyzing the existing infection control curricula of the home care education institutes. and guide books for infection control in home care should be developed and distributed. Purpose: Long-term care facilities have a responsibility to provide care service that enables residents to maintain their maximal functional capacity and quality of life. Also their needs must be reflected to the service programs. In oder to provide an adequate service, we should assess the elderly's physical, psychological and social health status and the need. In addition to this, the long-term care facilities must be defined clearly by the type of services. This study would contribute to conduct appropriate services in public long-term care policy for the older population in the future. This study would provide informations of long-term care facilities' services and older persons' needs for long-term care. Method: To achieve this objectives, this paper investigates the types, service programs of long-term care institutes and job descriptions of workers. The subjects were consisted of 150 long-term care institutes. 150 institutes of long-term care facilities were drawn from all over the country by a nonrandom, convenience sampling. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, $x^2$-test using SPSS program. The instruments of this study were self-reported questionnaires for long-term care institutes. The data were collected from March 1, 2004 to may 31, 2004. Results: Service programs of long-term care institutes were not enough for residents' demands. The job descriptions among nurse, social worker and physical therapist were not clearly defined. The nurse's main role was medication and checking vital sign(49.7%), that of social worker's was observation and supervising (31.2%). The most significant problems were lacking of diverse service programs for residents. Conclusion: Considering these findings and conclusion, the needs of long-term care services should be provided by individual physical and psychological level. And the professional manpower for elderly should be educated in multi disciplines.
From 1990 to 1997 Home Care Education Programs have been offered at 11 Home Care Education Institutes. But there have been no revisions in the program. Especially in the clinical practicum, the Ministry of Health and Welfare proposed 248 hours as 'Family Nursing and Practice'. But each of institutes has developed their own program, and the clinical practicum is very different. Institutions for home care practice have been very limited and even now only 40 hospitals started home care in the second demonstration project. A few community-based institutions have also been offering home care services. This study was conducted to analyze home care clinical practicum offered at Y university, and plan for a revised home care clinical practicum. Y university clinical practicum was revised to include 'visits to community institutions', 'laboratory practice', 'hospital practice', 'discharge planning and home care practice', and 'home care specialty practice'. The results of the evaluation and plan for a revision are as follows: 'Visits to community institutions' is a practice that helps the students understand community resources which are available to home care nurses, and as an orientation to institutions for practice. 'Laboratory practice' is to used to improve nursing skills that are applicable to home care. Problems that the students identified in the laboratory practice were 'lack of opportunity for individual practice', and 'inadequate theoretical preparation for practice'. To address these problems the basic nursing skills laboratory was open and could be used freely by the home care students, and practice could be done after the theoretical lectures. 'Hospital practice' is a practicum in which the students apply nursing skills to patients and to obtain assessment skills for discharge planning. Using a preceptorship, five days for hospital practice should be offered. 'Discharge planning and home care practice' was done at Wonju Christian Hospital. This institute is too far away that this practice should be provided at different institutions as soon as it is possible to contract with home care institutions. Patients groups in different home care institutions are very different, so the 'Home care specialty practice' should be done after analyzing patient groups and choosing specialty areas. These areas are' care of patients with respiratory dysfunction', 'care of patients with neurologic dysfunction', 'care of cancer patients', 'care of patients on dialysis', and 'wound care'. This practice should be offered with a preceptorship, so preceptors, clinical directors, and students should meet for home visit orientation.
The purposes of the study were to investigate the effects of the debt burden which was measured objectively, the types of debts and socio-economic characteristics on the subjective debt burden of households. The questionaires for 457 households who hold some debts were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA and Duncan’s multiple range teat. The major finding are summarized as follows: (1) the objective debt burdens which were measured by three variables, that is monthly debt repayment, the ratio of debt repayment to household income and total debt amount, affected the subjective debt burden. The households in which the monthly debt repayment was over 200 thousand won, the debt repayment was over 20% of the household income and the total debt amount was over 15 minion won felt higher debt burden. (2) the types of debts, which were classified into four groups such as debts from financial institutes, debts from private sources, credit card debts and debt from retailers, influenced differently the subjective debt burden. Holding debts from financial institutes and debts from private sources increased the subjective debt burden whereas holding credit card debts and debt from retailers did not. (3) the level of subjective debt burden were different according to household income, change in income due to IMF crisis, financial assets, home ownership, residence, householder’s age, job and educational levee. Based on the results, criterion for household’s debt management were suggested.
In this paper, the magnetic fields measured experimentally from the electric home appliances were evaluated and the data were discussed on the bases of the international institutes recommendations. It is difficult to insulate magnetic flux completely from electric home appliances and impossible to simulate theoretically because of the different directions and magnitudes of magnetic fields according to the internal current of electric home appliances. The experimental measurements of magnetic flux density were carried out according to the increment of distance in the vicinity of electric home appliances. The magnetic flux density produced by the electric home appliances was drastically dropped with the increment of distance. The measured and analysed results of electric home appliances of 15 including computer monitor, TV, etc. were presented.
