Parametric Analysis of Digital Particle Holography for Spray Droplets (분무 액적을 위한 디지털 입자 홀로그래피의 파라미터 해석)

  • This study presents in-line digital particle holography and its application to spray droplets to measure the characteristics of spray droplets. Several important parameters at the time of hologram recording such as the object distance and the region of laser beam used were verified. The correlation coefficient method with important parameters such as the reconstruction interval and the correlation interval was used for determination of the focal planes of particles. The optimal values of all these parameters are obtained by either numerical simulation of holograms or experiments. Using these optimal parameters, double pulse digital spray holograms in a short time interval were recorded with the synchronization system for the time control. The spatial positions of droplets that are used for the evaluation of the three dimensional droplet velocities can be easily located, which proves the feasibility of the digital holographic technology for measurements of several important features of spray droplets.

  • The new method of recording and reconstructing a synthetic object, which was called as scannedobject holography (SOH), was proposed and its feasibility was demonstrated theoretically and experimentally. The hologram was recorded by interfering the fixed reference beam with spherical waves emitting from a moving point source, whose trajectory determined the shape of the synthetic object to be recorded. The end face of an optical fiber and the output from a pulsed laser were utilized in order to implement a moving point source experimentally. tally.

Realization of acoustic scattering holography (산란 음향 홀로그래피의 구현 방법론)

  • There are many difficulties to get the scattered field generated by obstacle which has arbitrary shape or irregular surface impedance by using analytic solution or numerical methods. In this study, we propose experimental method of acoustic scattering holography that can predict the far-field scattered field based on nearfield measurements. In particular we can get the scattered fields of each wave-number components of incident fields. We express the relationship of wave-number components between incident fields and scattered fields using scattering matrix which is transfer matrix of wave-number components. Lastly, we prove the relation between wave-number components of incident and scattered field by experiments. The errors which are caused by measurements and decomposition methods are also analyzed.

  • The image projected onto the screen of the floating hologram is no more than a two-dimensional image. Although it creates an illusion that an object appears to float in space as it moves around while showing its different parts. This paper has proposed a novel method of floating 3D hologram display to view stereoscopic three-dimensional images without putting on glasses. The system is comprised of a sharkstooth scrim screen, projector, polarizing filter for the projector, and a polarizing film to block the image projected from the sham screen. As part of the polarization characteristics, the background image and the front object have completely been separated from each other with the stereoscopic 3D effect successfully implemented by the binocular disparity caused by the distance between the two screens.

  • Non-singular boundary element method (BEM) codes are developed in acoustics application. The BEM code is then used to calculate unknown boundary surface normal displacements and surface pressures from known exterior near field pressures. And then the calculated surface normal displacements and surface pressures are again applied to the BEM in forward in order to calculate reconstructed field pressures. (omitted)

  • Up to the present information processing has been studied in the field of radar and electrical communication. However, recently photographic images have been sent and received a laser communication system. This paper is an attempt to discuss a method of information transmittance accomplished by holography. The results of experiment show that two-dimensional photographic images at the output appear with spots and when the degree of intensity of the images produced reach a frequency plane to move towards 40-60.mu., they show a finer effect.

Fast Generation of Digital Hologram Based on Multi-GPU (Multi-GPU 기반의 고속 디지털 홀로그램 생성)

  • Fast generation of digital hologram is of importance for real-time holography broadcasting. In this paper, we propose such a method that parallelizes the Computer-Generated Holography (CGH) algorithm for digital hologram generation and make it faster using Multi Graphic Processing Unit (Multi-GPU) with help of the Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) and the Open Multi-Processing (OpenMP). In addition, we propose optimization methods such as fixation variable, vectorization, and loop unrolling for making the CGH algorithm much faster. Experimental results show that our method is about 9,700 times faster than a CPU-based one.

  • We propose an experimental holographic imaging scheme combining compressive sensing (CS) theory with digital holography in phase-shifting conditions. We use the Mach-Zehnder interferometer for hologram formation, and apply the compressive sensing (CS) approach to the holography acquisition process. Through projecting the hologram pattern into a digital micro-mirror device (DMD), finally we will acquire the compressive sensing measurements using a photodiode. After receiving the data of two holograms via conventional communication channel, we reconstruct the original object using certain signal recovery algorithms of CS theory and hologram reconstruction techniques, which demonstrated the feasibility of the proposed method.

  • The DES encryption algorithm employed in information security has a strong avalanche effect, and the processing speed to encrypt is also fast. However, due to the H/W advances, the secret key length of DES having 56bits is not enough so that it is easily exposed to brute force attack. In this paper, we present a new method to significantly increase the secret key length in the DES by integration of digital holography and DES algorithm. In addition, we evaluate the encryption performance of the proposed method by measuring the avalanche effect and verify the possibility of it.

  • Indium tin oxide (ITO) transparent electrodes, which are used to manufacture organic light-emitting diodes, are used in light-emitting surface electrodes of display EL panels such as cell phones and TVs, liquid crystal panels, transparent switches, and plane heating elements. ITO is a major component that consists of indium and tin and is advantageous in terms of obtaining sheet resistance and light transmittance in a thin film. However, the optical performance of devices decreases with an increase in its thickness. A digital holography system was constructed and measured for the step measurement of the ITO thin film, and the reliability of the technique was verified by comparing the FE-SEM measurement results. The error rate of the step difference measurement was within ±5%. This result demonstrated that this technique is useful for applications in advanced MEMS and NEMS industrial fields.
