  • Stereoscopic imaging is an important branch in the field of digital imaging, and has grown significantly over the last two decades through research and development. Hologram projection technology based on stereoscopic technology has been a social issue since the development of the Hungarian physicist Daniel Garber in 1947. It is becoming more and more important as stereoscopic works using similar technologies are applied to various fields. This study analyzed content cases using classical and creative stereoscopic technology from the perspective of digital image content design and explored the multiprotocol direction of holographic projection.

A Study for Beamforming Acoustic Holographic Method Using Linear Arrayed Microphones (직선 배열형 마이크로폰 어레이를 이용한 빔포밍 음향홀로그래픽법에 관한 연구)

  • This paper proposes acoustic holographic measuring system to estimate an absolute position of sound source. Using the measured signals, the estimation of the position is calculated by the Cross-spectrum algorithm of the beamformed signal and a linear arrayed microphone's signals. As the results of comparing the reference microphone method with beamforming method through the measurement of sound field, the beamforming acoustic holographic method is progressed above 20 percent than that of a reference microphone method in the resolution, and the utility of the proposed system could be confirmed.

  • Data storage related with writing and retrieving requires high storage capacity, fast transfer rate and less access time. Today any data storage system cannot satisfy these conditions, however holographic data storage system can perform faster data transfer rate because it is a page oriented memory system using volume hologram in writing and retrieving data. System can be constructed without mechanical actuating part therefore fast data transfer rate and high storage capacity about $1Tb/cm^3$ can be realized. In this paper, to reduce errors of binary data stored in holographic data storage system, a new method for bit error reduction is suggested. We proposal Algorithm use The Extended Kalman filter. The Kalman filter reduce measurement noise. Therefore, By using this error reduction method following results are obtained; the effect of measurement nois of Pixel is decreased and the intensity profile of data page becomes uniform therefore the better data storage system can be constructed.

First, find cluster centers using subtractive clustering algorithm then reduce intensities of pixels around cluster centers and fuzzy rules. Therefore, By using this error reduction method following results are obtained ; the effect of Inter Pixel Interference noise is decreased and the intensity profile of data page becomes uniform therefore the better data storage system can be constructed.

Adaptive Threshold Detection Using Expectation-Maximization Algorithm for Multi-Level Holographic Data Storage (멀티레벨 홀로그래픽 저장장치를 위한 적응 EM 알고리즘)

  • We propose an adaptive threshold detector algorithm for multi-level holographic data storage based on the expectation-maximization (EM) method. In this paper, the signal intensities that are passed through the four-level holographic channel are modeled as a four Gaussian mixture with unknown DC offsets and the threshold levels are estimated based on the maximum likelihood criterion. We compare the bit error rate (BER) performance of the proposed algorithm with the non-adaptive threshold detection algorithm for various levels of DC offset and misalignments. Our proposed algorithm shows consistently acceptable performance when the DC offset variance is fixed or the misalignments are lower than 20%. When the DC offset varies with each page, the BER of the proposed method is acceptable when the misalignments are lower than 10% and DC offset variance is 0.001.

  • In this paper we propose a dark-field digital holographic microscopy system based on 360-degree oblique illumination. This setup is constructed without using a dark-field objective. The principle of 360-degree oblique illumination of vortex beam and dark-field digital holographic microscopy are introduced theoretically and experimentally. By analyzing the reconstructed image of a dark-field digital hologram of a USAF 1951 target, it is proved that the imaging resolution can be improved by this method. And also, comparison and analysis are made on the reconstructed image of a bright-dark field digital hologram of a pumpkin stem slice, the result shows that the imaging contrast is also enhanced with this method, and it is effective for dark-field digital holographic microscopy imaging of large transparent biological samples.

  • A digital in-line holographic particle image velocimetry (HPIV) which can be applied to measure three-dimensional velocity fields of turbulent flows was developed. There are three different implementation methods of HPIV: traditional film-based HPIV, intermediate HPIV and digital HPIV. The traditional film-based HPIV and intermediate HPIV method is rather troublesome to do experiments and takes long calculation time, compared with the digital HPIV, Configuration of the digital in-line HPIV is simple and the data processing routine is similar to conventional 2D PIV methods. The digital HPIV velocity field measurement consists of four steps: recording, numerical reconstruction, particle extraction and velocity extraction. In the velocity extraction process, we improved PTV algorithm to extract the displacement of particle each placed in 3D space. The developed digital in-line HPIV system was applied to a vertical jet flow. The 3D velocity vectors measured by the digital HPIV method in the near field are in a good agreement with 2D PIV results.

  • Multi-level holographic data storage requires modulation codes for avoiding two dimensional inter-symbol interference (2D-ISI). Modulation codes can remove the fatal ISI pattern of neighboring the largest and the smallest symbols. In this paper, we propose a 4-level 4/6 modulation code and its trellis encoding for error correction. The proposed 4/6 modulation code prevents that the symbol 0 and 3 are not adjacent in any direction. Also, we compare the proposed modulation code with the same code rate modulation codes for four-level holographic data storage.

  • Resistive random access memory (ReRAM) of metallic conduction channel mechanism is based on the electrochemical control of metal in solid electrolyte thin film. Amorphous chalcogenide materials have the solid electrolyte characteristic and optical reactivity at the same time. The optical reactivity has been used to improve the memory switching characteristics of the amorphous $As_2Se_3$-based ReRAM. This study focuses on the formation of holographic lattices patterns in the amorphous $As_2Se_3$ thin film for straight conductive channel. The optical parameters of amorphous $As_2Se_3$ thin film which is a refractive index and extinction coefficient was taken by n&k thin film analyzer. He-Cd laser (wavelength: 325 nm) was selected based on these basic optical parameters. The straighten conduction channel was formed by holographic lithography method using He-Cd laser.$ Ag^+$ ions that photo-diffused periodically by holographic lithography method will be the role of straight channel patterns. The fabricated ReRAM operated more less voltage and indicated better reliability.

Design of 2-axis compensation servo system for angle multiplexing Holographic Data Storage (각 다중화 방식의 홀로그래픽 정보저장기기의 양방향틸트 보상시스템 설계)

  • Holographic Data Storage System, one of the next generation data storage devices, is a 2-dimensional page oriented memory system using volume holograms in writing and retrieving process. Recently photopolymer with disc type substrate was selected as a media for the Holographic Data Storage System. The disc tilt occurs when the media rotates and the external disturbance applies. The disc tilt causes the change of the angle between the reference beam and the media, the data cannot be retrieved with the right angle or other data page is retrieved. The tilt is generated in a 2-axis direction (tangential, radial). The tangential tilt direction is the same with the multiplexing plane, while the radial tilt direction is a perpendicular to the multiplexing plane. In this research we propose 2-axis tilt angle servo system. The tilt errors are measured by using external photo detector and the additional red laser. Then the tangential direction tilt is compensated by using the galvano mirror. Also the radial direction tilt is compensated by the rotating prism between the relay lens in the reference field. Finally we confirm the compensation results through the Signal to Noise Ratio(SNR) and Bit Error Rate(BER).
