The purpose of this study was to classify lower body types of elementary school girls. The subjects for anthropometric study were 368 girls aged from 10 to 11. Factor analysis, cluster analysis, discriminant analysis, and analysis of variance were performed for statistical analysis of the data. Four lower body construction factors were extracted by the factor analysis of antropometric measurements. The factors extracted were lower body fatness factor, lower body height factor, lower body length from the waist to the crotch factor, and lower body configuration factor. On the basis of the cluster analysis, three different lower body types were categorized. Type 1 was short and small sized type and 42.4% of subjects belonged under this type. Type 2 was tall and fat type and 22.3% of subjects belonged under this type. Type 3 was the most similar to the average type having the largest waist-hip drop value and 35.3% of subjects belonged under this type. Discriminant analysis showed 7 discriminant factors that can classify the children's lower body type were Rohrer's index, height, fibulae length, waist girth, ilio cristale girth, trochanter girth, and weight.
The importance of direct genetic, maternal, heterosis and epistatic effects were examined on post-weaning weight, height, length, girth, fat depth and muscle (ratio of stifle to hip width) with dry and wet season gains in these traits. The breeds used were two pure breeds (Jersey and Limousin), the Limousin${\times}$Jersey $F_1$, and two backcrosses ($F_1{\times}$Jersey dams and $F_1{\times}$Limousin dams). Direct genetic effects were large (p<0.001) for all traits except for length. Jersey maternal effects were large for weight, girth, fat depth and muscle in the post-weaning wet season gains which is an evidence of the impact of Jersey dam on progeny beyond weaning. There were large heterosis effects on fat depth and muscle relative to other traits. Epistatic effects were observed for post-weaning performance in weight, girth, fat depth and muscle. There are indications that there were different genetic effects for post-weaning compared to preweaning growth traits. Thus, it could be hypothesized from this study that different quantitative trait loci (QTL) affect early and late growth in Jersey and Limousin cross cattle breeds. The follow up work will examine the different chromosomal gene effects on pre- and post-weaning growth.

This study was carried out on 132 obese women who satisfied both of conditions for obesity: equal to or over 1.6 in Rohrer index and 90 in bust girth. The purpose of the study was to set up a sizing system using the loss function which would be a guide for obese women to select ready-to-wear of suitable size. The results were as follows. 1) In the sizing system for large size apparel industry, each company has 4 to 7 sizes that differ in their content and number. Producing only 5 sizes was trying to minimize the producti on expenses. 2) The sizing system according to the loss function was the follwings. The height was 3: 149, 154.5 and 161 cm. The bust girth was 5:96.5, 100.5, 104, 107.5, 112 cm. The hip girth was 5: 95, 99, 102.5, 105.5, 110 cm. 3) In comparing the cover ratio of the newly suggested sizing system for obese women's garment with that of the Korea Sizing system for women's garment, the former was founded to have the greater cover ratio.
Fitness of clothes becomes a major concern in apparel industry. In order to improve clothing fitness, it's very important to suggest a systematical sizing system. The Purpose of this study was to suggest a standard sizing system for junior-high school girls'lower clothes. The subjects were 402 middle-high school girls of 13 to 15 year-old. 4 clusters were categorized by cluster analysis and the sizing system was classified according to four lower body types. The size intervals of waist girth and hip girth were 3cm and 4cm respectively. The most frequent size were 64-86 in the short and small figure type 1,67-90 in the fattest figure type 2, 61-86 in the average size type 3 and 64-90 in type 4 taller than others types. The sizing system, which had frequencies more than 4%, was classified 9 cases, 11 cases, 8 cases and 9 cases respectively by lower body types. This result will contribute to clothing fitness of consumer and the amount of production.
This study was designed to testify the possibility and devise the method to manipulate the 3D body scan data to produce rounded-belt pattern adaptable to hip-type variation of women in their 20's. The results of this research were as follows : Firstly, based on drop-value distribution of hip and waist girth, 151 subjects were classified into three hip-types; Type 1 (15.23%) was 'cylinder type', showing lowest drop-value, Type 2 (69.54%) was 'average type' and Type3 (15.23%) was 'hourglass type' showing highest drop-value. Secondly, using CAD program, design lines for round shape belt were set on the surface of 3D scan data of representative subject of each type. And divided 3D surfaces were flattened onto the plane by the internal tools of CAD program. The measure, 'lifting value of round belt pattern', implying the level of curve ratio of pattern was higher in back than front. This result might be linked to the fact that the hip part is more protruded than the abdomen part. And the measures also showed highest values in Type 3(hourglass type) and lowest in Type 1(cylinder type), meaning that the pattern of Type 3 showed more rounded shape than that of Type 1. This finding implied that round belt for body type having high drop-value should be shaped more curved. Thirdly, difference ratios of outline length and area between 3D curves(body surface) and 2D plane(pattern) were 4.5% and 1.3%, respectively. This result demonstrated and solidified the feasibility of designing digital garment pattern from 3D body scan data.
This research, focused on the curved of the lower body, designated abdomen and hip gradient, crotch depth and crotch width the factors for which are able to influence on the appearence and the function of Divided Skirt and analized the changes when that were applied to a real pattern, and so the purpose of this research is to show the basic documents needed to design a Divided Skirt pattern fitting with the wear purpose and usage. The following are the results of this research. 1. The abdomen and hip gradient turned out as the most influential factor on the appearance and the function of Divided Skirt. The pattern of which the abdomen and hip gradient was designated as vertical zero degree, showed an excellent appearance and in case of function, the pattern of which thw angle of the abdomen and hip gradient of human body type was applied to itself without a particular designation turned out excellent. 2. In case of crotch depth, the pattern which had crotch depth+2㎝, had a better appearance but influced nothing on function. 3. The factor of crotch width didn\`t have any influence on the appearance and function of Divided Skirt. 4. Referring to the results of the above, the Divided Skirt pattern of which the appearance and the function turned excellent, had the angle of abdomen gradient 4 degrees, the angle abdomen gradient 4 degrees, the angle of hip gradient/2+2.5 degrees, crotch depth+2㎝ and crotch width following human body type. In case of Divied Skirt worn when going out, the pattern which had the angle of abdomen and hip gradient vertical zero degree, crotch depth+2㎝ and crotch width following human body type, turned out suitable. Also, the suitable pattern of Divided Skirt for working had the abdomen and hip gradient following human body type, crotch depth+2㎝ and covering girth diameter/2±1㎝.
The purposes of this study were to investigate changes in serum lipid levels with age and gender, and to determine which factors affect the serum lipid profiles. The anthropometric parameters(height, weight, waist girth, hip girth) and biochemical status(cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL-chol.) were measured for clinically normal adults(male 89, female 91) in Yeongdong area. The results are as follows: 1. The obesity index was significantly higher in female($115.2{\pm}15.2%$) than in male($109.9{\pm}13.4%$), but waist/hip girth ratio(WHR) was significantly higher in male ($0.89{\pm}0.05$) than in female($0.81{\pm}0.06$). 2. Male subjects had higher triglyceride and atherogenic index and lower HDL-cholesterol and relative cholesterol than those of female subjects. 3. Prevalences of hypercholesteolemia, hypertriglyceridemia and hypoHDL-cholesterolemia were 9.0%, 9.0%, 14.6% respectively in male and 9.9%, 2.2%, 4.4% in female. 4. WHR positively correlated with serum cholesterol, TG, LDL/HDL and A.I., and negatively correlated with HDL-chol. and relative chol. Correlation analyses indicated that WHR seemed to be more closely associated with serum lipid levels(rather than obesity index). 5. Age showed positive correlations with waist girth, WHR, cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, LDL/HDL and A.I., but negative correlations with height, body weight and relative cholesterol. 6. There was significant differences in TG concentration between drinker($169.3{\pm}130.0mg/dl$) and non-drinker($111.4{\pm}64.5mg/dl$), and smoker($165{\pm}103.6mg/dl$) and non-smoker ($110.8{\pm}39.0mg/dl$). That is to say that as risk factors for hyperlipidemia are obesity index, serum lipid concentration, life style(such as alcohol drinking and smoking) and age. Specially major risk factors are drinking, smoking and regulated exercise in male and age is an important risk factor in female.

The middle-aged body differs from the youthful body and has its own body type due to the considerable difference in body structure by age. However, most ready-made clothes for middle-aged women are designed according to the youthful body types. They are looking for the better fitness of the ready-made clothes. Thus clothing fitness is strongly required for a middle-aged women. The purpose of this study is to analyze the basic characteristics of middle-aged women's body types and to compare the real somatotype and cognitive somatotype. The subjects are 238 middle-aged women between 35 and 49 years old living in Daegu. Data are collected through anthropometric measurement and questionnaire on somatotype from September to October 2004. The results are as follows: 1. Using factor analysis, cluster analysis is carried out and the subjects of this research are classified into 4 groups. 2. Middle-aged women usually are not satisfied with their body. Particularly, they show the lowest satisfaction measurement about their abdominal girth, weight, and overall body-shape in total 16 categories. 3. As a result of body cathexis for each part, women are usually not satisfied with their body parts for themselves, regardless of real somatotype. 4. As I divide middle-aged women's somatotype by Rohrer index into the groups of three body-types, then examine real somatotype and cognitive somatotype, I get the following result : The slimmer their bodies are, the more satisfied middle-aged women we. Besides, 40.3% of middle-aged women have an incorrect and distorted understanding of their somatotype. 5. As a result of this research for ideal state of body-size, the women shows their Ideal sizes as follow: 160.55cm for ideal height, 88.73cm for ideal bust girth, 71.14cm for ideal waist girth, 90.03cm for ideal hip girth, and 53kg for ideal weight.

The purpose of this study is to reveal the effect of electrical stimulation of body composition in obese person. Subjects were 30s to 40s aged healthy workers(2004. 3. 8~4. 17) in the S general Hospital in Suwon and they were brought to manage obesity. Subjects were divided into control group(Female<0.85, Male<0.90) and study group(Female>0.85, Male>0.90) by WHR(waist-hip ratio) that is measured by Automatic body composition analyzer(InBody 3.0). And we divided the study group with randomized methods into group A(n=8) and group B(n=8). Then we compared and analyzed the change of muscle mass, body fat, abdominal girth, WHR, BMI(body mass index) after application of electrical stimulation, three times a week, for 30 minutes in each session with 50 Hz of pulse frequency, $20\;{\mu}s$ or $250\;{\mu}s$ of pulse duration. There was statistically meaningful decrement of body fat(p<0.05) and abdominal girth(p<0.05) but not of body weight, muscle mass, WHR and BMI in the control group after application of electrical stimulation with 50 Hz, $20\;{\mu}s$. There were meaningful change of abdominal girth(p<0.05), WHR(p<0.05) and BMI(p<0.05), but not of body weight, muscle mass and body fat after application of electrical stimulation with 50 Hz, $20\;{\mu}s$ in group A. We applied electrical stimulation with 50 Hz, $250\;{\mu}s$ in group B, then there were meaningful change of body weight(p<0.05), body fat(p<0.01), abdominal girth(p<0.01), WHR(p<0.05) and BMI(p<0.01) but not of muscle mass only. Consequently, the pulse duration is the main parameter of electrical stimulation that affect the body composition of obese person in this study and if we combined the diet control to reduce blood components we could have better result. So it would be more effective to manage localized obesity(in abdomen, thigh, upper arm, etc.) if you apply electrical stimulation considering the pulse duration.
During a 5-yr period, 1994-1998, pre-weaning and weaning data were collected on 591 calves produced by mating either straightbred Jersey, straightbred Limousin or $F_1$ (Limousin${\times}$Jersey) bulls to mature purebred Jersey or Limousin cows. Traits recorded included birth and weaning weight, height, length, girth, fat depth and a measure of muscle (ratio of stifle to hip width expressed as a percentage). All traits were analyzed assuming a model with sire and dam random effects that included effects of year and date of birth, sex, breed and year${\times}$sex interaction. Main effects were generally significant with few exceptions. Direct genetic effects were large for weight, height, girth and muscle with a breed trend from purebred Jersey (small) to purebred Limousin (large). At weaning, the maternal effect of the Jersey dam was positive for weight (10.9${\pm}$4.9 kg), girth (3.7${\pm}$1.0 cm) and muscle (6.0${\pm}$0.9%). Heterosis was highly significant and positive only for fat depth (1.5${\pm}$0.2 mm) with the $F_1$ progeny being the fattest, followed by the backcrosses, then purebred Jersey and purebred Limousin. Also, significant (p<0.001) but negative heterosis was observed for weight, girth and muscle. The change in ranking for fat depth relative to other traits is a reflection of the large heterotic effects relative to direct effects on fat depth. Epistatic effects were not significant on any trait at birth or weaning. This study has indicated the possibility of exploiting the positive heterotic and maternal effects for fat depth and muscularity to meet specific meat quality and quantity demand by consumers.
