The optical performance of the mirror fur satellite camera is highly dependent on the adhesive properties between the mirror and its support. Therefore, in order to design a mirror with high optical performance, the mechanical properties of adhesives should be well defined. In this research, the mechanical properties of three kinds of space adhesives are studied. In case of the materials which show nearly incompressible behavior such as space adhesives, it is important to measure shear modulus which governs deviatoric stress components. Also the experiment should be performed in circumstances similar to real manufacturing process of mirror, because extra factors such as size effects, the adhesion effects of primer and reactions between adhesive and primer affect the properties of adhesive regions. In this research shear moduli of the adhesives are determined by using a single lap adhesively bonded joint. For the shear tests, several temperatures have been selected from $-20^{\circ}C$ to $55^{\circ}C$ which is operating temperature range of the adhesive. In the case of linear behavior materials, shear moduli are calculated through a linear curve fitting. Shear stress-strain relation is obtained by using an exponential curve fitting for material which shows non-linear behavior. The shear modulus of each adhesive is expressed as a function of temperature. Characteristics and adaptability of the adhesives are discussed regarding their temperature sensitivity.

The optical performance of the mirror for satellite camera is highly dependent on the adhesive properties between the mirror and its support. Therefore, in order to design a mirror with high optical performance, the mechanical properties of adhesives should be well defined. In this paper, the mechanical properties of three kinds of space adhesives are studied. Elastic moduli of the adhesives are determined by tensile tests. Stress-strain relation is obtained by using exponential curve fitting for the adhesive which shows non-linear behavior. In case of the linear behavior material, elastic modulus is calculated through linear curve fitting. For the tensile tests, several points have been selected in the operating temperature range of the adhesive. The elastic modulus of each adhesive is expressed as a function of temperature. Characteristics of the adhesives are discussed regarding their temperature sensitivity.
In this study, the electrochemical redox behavior of neodymium in non-aqueous electrolytes was investigated to confirm the possibility of neodymium metallurgy at room temperature. The non-aqueous electrolytes include ionic liquids such as $[C_4mim]PF_6$, $[C_4mim]Cl$, and $[P_{66614}]PF_6$, ethanol which are highly soluble in neodymium salts, and mixed electrolytes based on carbonate with highly electrochemical stability. The electrochemical redox properties of neodymium were better than those of other electrolytes in the case of the mixed electrolyte based on ethylene carbonate (EC)/di-ethylene carbonate (DEC). Ethanol was added to improve the physical properties of the mixed electrolyte. Thorough the analysis about ionic conductivity of EC/DEC ratio, ethanol content and $NdCl_3$ concentration, the best electrolyte composition was 50 vol% content of ethanol and 0.5 M of $NdCl_3$. Using cyclic voltametry and linear sweep voltametry, a current peak estimated at -3.8 V (vs. Pt-QRE) was observed as a limiting current of neodymium reduction. Potentiostatic electrolysis for 18 hours at room temperature at -6 V (vs. Pt-QRE) confirmed that metallic neodymium was electrodeposited.
Milk-related traits (milk yield, fat and protein) have been crucial to selection of Holstein. It is essential to find the current selection trends of Holstein. Despite this, uncovering the current trends of selection have been ignored in previous studies. We suggest a new formula to detect the current selection trends based on single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP). This suggestion is based on the best linear unbiased prediction (BLUP) and the Fisher's fundamental theorem of natural selection both of which are trait-dependent. Fisher's theorem links the additive genetic variance to the selection coefficient. For Holstein milk production traits, we estimated the additive genetic variance using SNP effect from BLUP and selection coefficients based on genetic variance to search highly selective SNPs. Through these processes, we identified significantly selective SNPs. The number of genes containing highly selective SNPs with p-value <0.01 (nearly top 1% SNPs) in all traits and p-value <0.001 (nearly top 0.1%) in any traits was 14. They are phosphodiesterase 4B (PDE4B), serine/threonine kinase 40 (STK40), collagen, type XI, alpha 1 (COL11A1), ephrin-A1 (EFNA1), netrin 4 (NTN4), neuron specific gene family member 1 (NSG1), estrogen receptor 1 (ESR1), neurexin 3 (NRXN3), spectrin, beta, non-erythrocytic 1 (SPTBN1), ADP-ribosylation factor interacting protein 1 (ARFIP1), mutL homolog 1 (MLH1), transmembrane channel-like 7 (TMC7), carboxypeptidase X, member 2 (CPXM2) and ADAM metallopeptidase domain 12 (ADAM12). These genes may be important for future artificial selection trends. Also, we found that the SNP effect predicted from BLUP was the key factor to determine the expected current selection coefficient of SNP. Under Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium of SNP markers in current generation, the selection coefficient is equivalent to $2^*SNP$ effect.
Flow characteristics of a differential pressure flow meters which have a shape of triangular separate bar (TSB) was investigated according to machining conditions in pressure tapping holes. Size of pressure tapping holes is machined with either 1.0 mm or 1.5 mm in diameter. Also, number of pressure tapping holes are drilled either 9 or 17. The mass flow rate of the TSB flow meters are calibrated with a laminar flow meter by connecting them in line. The mass flow rate in the TSB flow meters are plotted with a non-dimensional parameter H which includes the gas temperature, exhaust gas pressure and differential pressure at the flow meters, and atmospheric pressure. An empirical correlation between the mass flow rate at the TSB flow meter and the non-dimensional parameter H was obtained. The empirical correlation showed highly linear relationship between the mass flow rate and the non-dimensional parameter H. The hole size of the pressure tapping holes has a bigger effect on the flow rate than the number of the tapping holes.

The development and application of accurate numerical models is essential to promptly respond to early stage of oil spill incidents occurring in nearshore area. In this study, the coupled modelling system was developed by integrating the advection-diffusion-transformation model for oil slick with the Boussinesq model, which incorporates non-linear, discrete, turbulent and rotational effects of wavy flows for accurate representation of nearshore hydrodynamics. The developed model examined its applicability through the application into real coastal region with topographical complexity and characteristics of the resulting flow originated from it. The highly-resolved, coupled model developed in this study is believed to assist in establishing the disaster prevention system that can prepare effectively for oil disasters under extreme ocean climate conditions and thus minimize industrial, economical, and environmental damages.
Wake Up Word (WUW) is a short utterance used to convert speech recognizer to recognition mode. The WUW defined by the user who actually use the speech recognizer is called user-defined WUW. In this paper, to recognize user-defined WUW, we construct traditional Gaussian Mixture Model-Hidden Markov Model (GMM-HMM), Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA)-GMM-HMM and LDA-Deep Neural Network (DNN)-HMM based system and compare their performances. Also, to improve recognition accuracy of the WUW system, a threshold method is applied to each model, which significantly reduces the error rate of the WUW recognition and the rejection failure rate of non-WUW simultaneously. For LDA-DNN-HMM system, when the WUW error rate is 9.84 %, the rejection failure rate of non-WUW is 0.0058 %, which is about 4.82 times lower than the LDA-GMM-HMM system. These results demonstrate that LDA-DNN-HMM model developed in this paper proves to be highly effective for constructing user-defined WUW recognition system.

Apoptosis, a genetically determined process of programmed cell death, is considered a vital component of various processes including normal cell turnover, animal development, and tissue homeostasis. It has a crucial role in many medical disorders and hence the development of non-invasive imaging tool is highly demanded. Recently, we have developed a peptide-based radioactive probe (ApoPep-1) for apoptosis detection. In that work the potential of probe for apoptosis detection was verified, however in vivo stability of radiolabeled peptide was not enough to monitor apoptosis for extended period. In current study, we prepared cyclic ApoPep-1 peptides to improve the stability of origianl linear ApoPep-1 and carried out direct comparison studies in vitro and in vivo. A targeting efficacy of newly synthesized cyclic ApoPep-1 peptide for apoptosis was confirmed in acute myocardial infarct model.
Polarization is a rich source of information on the physical properties of astronomical objects. In particular, scattered sunlight by optically thin media (e.g., cometary comae) shows linear polarization of light, which highly depends on the phase angle (an angle between the Sun-Comet-Earth), wavelengths, and physical properties of cometary dust particles such as size, composition, and structures. Here, we present a study of polarimetric properties of non-periodic comet C/2013 US10 (Catalina) in optical and near-infrared wavelength regions obtained from imaging, spectroscopy, and polarimetric observations taken on UT 2015 December 17 - 19 welcoming its (probably) first close approach to the Earth. In this presentation, we want to introduce our progress since the last Korean Astronomical Society meeting (at BEXCO, Busan, 2016 April 14 - 15) especially in terms of spatial variations of degree of linear polarization (DOLP) and its possible scenarios to explain the correlations with other observational results. In particular, we found that there is strong anti-correlation between the gas/dust flux ratio and DOLP at the cometocentric distance of $(2-5){\times}104 km$. Besides, within 10 arcseconds in radii (corresponding to inner coma region of 104 km from the center), the inverse relationship of these two parameters does not hold anymore. We conjecture that the rapid outward increase of DOLP can be supported by either the sublimation/evaporation of icy volatiles, disaggregation of cometary dust particles ejected from the nucleus, and/or difference of dominant dust particle sizes. From our results, we can conclude that comet C/2013 US10 (Catalina) corroborates rather indefinite traditional classification of poalrimetric classes of comets, and provides good opportunity to study less processed material which probably cherishes its memory at the formation epoch of the Solar System.

Dynamic aeroelastic behavior of structurally nonlinear Joined Wings is presented. Three configurations, two characterized by a different location of the joint and one presenting a direct connection between the two wings (SensorCraft-like layout) are investigated. The snap-divergence is studied from a dynamic perspective in order to assess the real response of the configuration. The investigations also focus on the flutter occurrence (critical state) and postcritical phenomena. Limit Cycle Oscillations (LCOs) are observed, possibly followed by a loss of periodicity of the solution as speed is further increased. In some cases, it is also possible to ascertain the presence of period doubling (flip-) bifurcations. Differences between flutter (Hopf's bifurcation) speed evaluated with linear and nonlinear analyses are discussed in depth in order to understand if a linear (and thus computationally less intense) representation provides an acceptable estimate of the instability properties. Both frequency- and time-domain approaches are compared. Moreover, aerodynamic solvers based on the potential flow are critically examined. In particular, it is assessed in what measure more sophisticated aerodynamic and interface models impact the aeroelastic predictions. When the use of the tools gives different results, a physical interpretation of the leading mechanism generating the mismatch is provided. In particular, for PrandtlPlane-like configurations the aeroelastic response is very sensitive to the wake's shape. As a consequence, it is suggested that a more sophisticate modeling of the wake positively impacts the reliability of aerodynamic and aeroelastic analysis. For SensorCraft-like configurations some LCOs are characterized by a non-synchronous motion of the inner and outer portion of the lower wing: the wing's tip exhibits a small oscillation during the descending or ascending phase, whereas the mid-span station describes a sinusoidal-like trajectory in the time-domain.
