  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between perceived risk and purchasing behavior of clothing gift among adult women. Data were collected from 258 adult women reside in Kwangiu who have ever been to purchase clothing gift during recent six months using a qusetionaire. Frequency Analysis, Factor Analysis, Correlation Analysis, T-test were carried out in the collected data. The findings were as follows; 1. The types of risks that respondents perceived when they purchased clothing gift were identified as practical-economic risk, the social-psychological risk, the fashionable risk and the time-refunding risk. 2. The higher the self-satisfaction motivation was, the higher the social-psychological risk and the higher the practical motivation was, the higher the practical-economic risk (P<.001). 3. The degree of the perceived risks of the Low Planning Group was higher than that of the High Planning Group (P<.001). 4. When the respondents perceived social-psychological risk high, they considered brand, fashionability, and store type as more important selective criteria and when the practical-economic risk perceived high, practicality, store service were conidered more important (P<.05). 5. When respondents perceived social-psychological and fashionable risk high, they used both personal information and non-personal information high (P<.01). • This study has been performed to investigate the risk perceptions of employees in nuclear power plants. A representative sample of 473 employees was surveyed(about 79% response rate). The questionnaire included scales on both risk perceptions of critical five hazards that could be occurring in the nuclear power plants and two psychometric attitudes. Higher risk perceptions between managers and non-managers to five hazards used in this study were entirely obtained from the managers. It was also found that the perceived higher hazards were in the following order: radiation exposure, radioactive release, explosion, fire and radioactive waste. For the controllability, higher risk perceptions to the all factors were obtained from the managers, and higher ones were non-managers in the dread.

  • Purpose: The survey-based study aimed to determine the distribution and clustering tendency of metabolic syndrome risk factors in urban residents, and cluster odds ratios. Methods: Cluster sampling involved 827 urban participants and analysis of the collected data. Results: Regarding the prevalence of metabolic syndrome risk factors used for diagnosis, abdominal obesity was higher in women(69.5%) than in men(34.3%), high blood pressure was higher in men(57%) than in women(46.5%), and blood sugar was higher in men(6.9%) than in women(5.7%). Clustering increased with increasing body mass index(BMI), weight:height ratio(W/Ht) and abdominal obesity Risk factors for females were 1.7 times higher than for males. Participants with a family history of metabolic syndrome displayed related risk factors 1.5 times more than participants without a family history. Participants having a BMI ranking them as obese were 9.5 times more likely to display metabolic syndrome risk factors than non-obese participants. Obese participants were 20 times more likely to display risk factors than non-obese participants. Conclusion: BMI, W/Ht and abdominal obesity correlate with clustering of metabolic syndrome risk factors. The risk is increased by smoking and family history. Exercise weight control and non-smoking are recommended for comprehensive management of clustering of metabolic syndrome risk factors.

  • As the number of Internet users increases, online shopping malls are gradually flourishing and sales are continuously growing. However, since consumers are not able to check what they purchase when buying products on the Internet, they are bound to have higher risk perception than buying directly from off-line stores. Especially, sporting goods require a special attention because a preliminary test is important. Therefore, the risk perception is much higher when people purchase sporting goods online. This study first identifies the multi-dimensionality of risk perception. Then, it investigates whether online purchasing experience of sporting goods makes differences in the level of risk perception. In addition, it examines whether the risk perception by those who had an experience in purchasing sporting goods online affects the customer satisfaction. This study has identified five dimensions in the concept of risk perception, such as financial risk, performance risk, security risk, delivery risk, and psychological/physical risk. A statistical analysis shows that people without an experience in purchasing sporting goods online have perceived significantly higher performance risk, security risk, and psychological/physical risk than those with online purchasing experiences. Finally, this study has found that delivery risk, financial risk, and psychological/physical risk have significant negative influences on the customer satisfaction.

  • In the construction and operation of large marine structure, hazard risk analysis is one of important factors. Therefore, this paper investigates the hazard risk indexes and evaluates the risk level in the construction and operation of SFT on the basis of expert survey and Fuzzy analytic hierarchy process. Hazard risk is divided into natural hazard risk (earthquake, typhoon, tsunami, and ice collision) and human factor hazard risk (fire, explosion, traffic accident, ship or submarine collision). Also, the influence of hazard risk indexes on SFT was evaluated in tunnel tube, supporting system, ventilation tower, foundation, and connection part. As the hazard risk level of SFT is compared with those of bridge, underwater tunnel, and immersed tunnel, the intrinsic risk level of SFT was evaluated. Tsunami and earthquake had higher risk level in natural hazard risk, and the risk levels of fire and explosion were higher in human factor hazard risk. Hazard risk level of SFT was 1.4 times higher than immersed tunnel, and 3.2 times higher than bridge.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the types of risk consumers feel when they shop at home and to compare their feelings with the perceived risk when they shop at stores and the kinds of clothing frequently purchased at home. For this study, the data were collected through the questionnaire distributed to 692 carried and unmarried women. The analysis was done through the t-test, ANOVA and regression. The results are as follows . 1) Compared to those shopping at stores, at-home shoppers perceived a higher risk in eight kinds of clothing. 2) Compared to shopping at stores, product performance risk, psychological risk and time loss risk increased dramatically Among these, the time loss risk showed the most noticeable increase. 3) When the perceived risk was low for a certain item, it was more often shopped at home. Among the perceived risk types, the lower the financial risk and the time loss risk, the item was more frequently shopped at home. 4) Together with store shopping, the perceived risks when shopping at home differed according the use of clothing. 5) The at-home purchase intentions were higher in the order of at-home wear, casual wear and dress/suit. The higher the price and the more important the fit was, shopping at home was more difficult.

  • Objective : This study aims to investigate the relationship between aneurysm wall enhancement and clinical rupture risks based on the magnetic resonance vessel wall imaging (MR-VWI) quantitative methods. Methods : One hundred and eight patients with 127 unruptured aneurysms were prospectively enrolled from Feburary 2016 to October 2017. Aneurysms were divided into high risk (≥10) and intermediate-low risk group (<10) according to the PHASES (Population, Hypertension, Age, Size of aneurysm, Earlier SAH history from another aneurysm, Site of aneurysm) scores. Clinical risk factors, aneurysm morphology, and wall enhancement index (WEI) calculated using 3D MR-VWI were analyzed and compared. Results : In comparison of high-risk and intermediated-low risk groups, univariate analysis showed that neck width (4.5±3.3 mm vs. 3.4±1.7 mm, p=0.002), the presence of wall enhancement (100.0% vs. 62.9%, p<0.001), and WEI (1.6±0.6 vs. 0.8±0.8, p<0.001) were significantly associated with high rupture risk. Multivariate regression analysis revealed that WEI was the most important factor in predicting high rupture risk (odds ratio, 2.6; 95% confidence interval, 1.4-4.9; p=0.002). The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis can efficiently differentiate higher risk aneurysms (area under the curve, 0.780; p<0.001) which have a reliable WEI cutoff value (1.04; sensitivity, 0.833; specificity, 0.67) predictive of high rupture risk. Conclusion : Aneurysms with higher rupture risk based on PHASES score demonstrate increased neck width, wall enhancement, and the enhancement intensity. Higher WEI in unruptured aneurysms has a predictive value for increased rupture risk.
