The present paper treats the free vibration problem of the masonry wall strengthened with thin composite plate by viscoelastic adhesive layer. For this goal two steps are considered in the analytical solution. In the first one, an efficient homogenisation procedure is given to provide the anisotropic properties of the masonry wall. The second one is dedicated to purpose simplified mathematical models related to both in-plane and out-of-plane vibration problems. In these models, the higher order shear theories (HSDT's) are employed for a more rigours description of the shear deformation trough the masonry wall and the composite sheet. Ritz's method is deployed as solution strategy in order to get the natural frequencies and their corresponding loss factors. The obtained results are validated with the finite element method (FEM) and then, a parametric study is undertaken for different kinds of masonry walls strengthened with composite sheets.
In order to investigate the extent of fixation of new water-borne preservatives in blocks of pinus densiflora sapwoods the streaming potential through the column with preservative treated wood was measured at various conditions. The rates of leachability of ingredients in the treated wood were estimated by the measurement of electric conductivity of the solution with the leached components. The solution was also analyzed by Atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AA). As a results, the experimental data indicated that the fixation of CCB, CCFZ and ACQ in wood were relatively unstable. The fixation rates of CCB, CCFZ were improved by increasing heat and drying time. The amounts of the leached ingredients were apparently higher in CCB and CCFZ than in CCA, while the rate of leaching of ACQ was not changed at various drying temperature.
The undesirable phase transformation of zirconium dioxide at high temperatures can be eliminated by stabilization of the cubic phase with an addition of a selected alkaline earth or rare-earth oxide. In this paper the ionic conductivity of cubic solid solutions in the stabilized ZrO$_2$ by CaO-Y$_2$O$_3$ system was examined. The higher ionic conductivity appears to be related to lower activation energy rather than to the number of oxygen vacancies dictated by composition. Those compositions of highest conductivity lie close to the cubic-monoclinic solid-solution phase boundary. Conductivity temperature data are presented that indicate a reversible order-disorder transition for Zr$_2$2-Y$_2$O$_3$cubic solid solutions containing 20 and 25 mole % $Y_2$O$_3$.
Up to the present day, the best solution we can get to the truncated moment problem (TMP) is probably the Flat Extension Theorem. It says that if the corresponding moment matrix of a moment sequence admits a rank-preserving positive extension, then the sequence has a representing measure. However, constructing a flat extension for most higher-order moment sequences cannot be executed easily because it requires to allow many parameters. Recently, the author has considered various decompositions of a moment matrix to find a solution to TMP instead of an extension. Using a new approach with the Hadamard product, the author would like to introduce more techniques related to moment matrix decompositions.
The color mixture, obtained from Indigo and Japanese pagoda tree, was applied to cellulose fibers such as cotton, linen and rayon to diversify color gamut of natural dyes. The color mixture was tried with two different methods. The first process was that cellulose fibers were dyed with $5{\sim}25%$ owf Japanese pagoda tree solution, and then dyed 1 to 4 times with Indigo. The second process was dyeing 1 to 7 times with Indigo, followed by dyeing with $5{\sim}25%$ owf Japanese pagoda tree solution. K/S value of the dyed fibers with one colorant and color mixture increased in the order of linen, cotton, rayon. It was also found that the first process could give higher K/S values than the second process.
Inserted HTS (high temperature superconducting) coil is promisingly expected as a solution for achievement of higher fields such as GHz scale NMR magnet. However, HTS magnet causes persistent current decay in the persistent current mode and this decay should be compensated in order to keep stable magnetic field. As a solution for the decay in the HTS magnets, we proposed a new type superconducting power supply, i.e., linear type magnetic flux pump (LTMFP). The LTMFP mainly consists of DC bias coil, 3-phase AC coil and superconducting Nb foil. The compensating current in closed superconductive circuit can be easily controlled by the intensity of 3-phase AC current and its frequency. In this study, it has been investigated that the flux pump can effectively charge the current for various frequencies according to the different load magnets.

Let $\{U(t,s)\}_{t{\geq}s}$ be a periodic evolutionary process with period ${\tau}$ > 0 on a Banach space X. Also, let L be the generator of the evolution semigroup associated with $\{U(t,s)\}_{t{\geq}s}$ on the phase space $P_{\tau}(X)$ of all ${\tau}$-periodic continuous X-valued functions. Some kind of variation-of-constants formula for the solution u of the equation $({\alpha}I-L)^nu=f$ will be given together with the conditions on $f{\in}P_{\tau}(X)$ for the existence of coefficients in the formula involving the monodromy operator $U(0,-{\tau})$. Also, examples of ODEs and PDEs are presented as its application.
This study attempted to examine what effect knowledge management factors have on cooperative organizational culture regarding knowledge sharing depending on workplace types and occupations in order to seek for solution to increase efficiency and effects of knowledge management in the hospital organization. Key findings are as follows: For members of the hospital organization, the higher their recognition was in relation to 'concern and support of chief executive officer for knowledge management', and 'problem solution by specialists or superior in the organization and acquisition on the task knowledge', the more they worked as factors exerting positive effects on 'cooperative organizational culture regarding knowledge sharing'. And influence factors were different depending on workplace types and occupation.
Two-dimensional stagnation flow toward a plane wall coated with magnetic fluid of uniform thickness is investigated. The flow field is represented as a similarity solution of the Navier-Stokes equation for this incompressible laminar flow. The resulting third order ordinary differential equation is solved numerically by using the shooting method and by determining two shooting parameters so as to satisfy the boundary and interface conditions. Features of the flow including streamline patterns are investigated for the varying values of density ratio, viscosity ratio, and Reynolds number. An adverse flow with double eddy pair in magnetic fluid region is found to emerge as the Reynolds number becomes higher than a threshold value. The results for the interface velocity, interface and wall shear stress, and boundary layer and displacement thickness are also presented.
In this paper a new shape reconstruction method that allows us to construct surface models from very large sets of points is presented. In this method the global domain of interest is divided into smaller domains where the problem can be solved locally. These local solutions of subdivided domains are blended together according to weighting coefficients to obtain a global solution using partition of unity function. The suggested approach gives us considerable flexibility in the choice of local shape functions which depend on the local shape complexity and desired accuracy. At each domain, a quadratic polynomial function is created that fits the points in the domain. If the approximation is not accurate enough, other higher order functions including cubic polynomial function and RBF(Radial Basis Function) are used. This adaptive selection of local shape functions offers robust and efficient solution to a great variety of shape reconstruction problems.
