Time-dependent axial shortening in the cores and columns of tall concrete buildings requires special attention to ensure proper behavior for strength of the structure and the nonstructural element. The effects of column shortening, both elastic and inelastic, take on added significance and need special consideration in design and construction with increased height of structures. In this paper, the compensation method of column shortening are introduced. It could be concluded that the survey is a significant factor for the compensation of column shortening.
Geopolymer concrete (GPC), which is recognised as an environmentally friendly alternative to ordinary Portland cement (OPC) concrete, has been reported to possess high fire resistance. However, very limited research has been conducted to investigate the behaviour of geopolymer concrete-filled steel tubular (GCFST) columns at either ambient or elevated temperatures. This paper presents the compressive test results of a total of 15 circular concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) stub columns, including 5 specimens tested at room temperature, 5 specimens tested at elevated temperatures and the remaining 5 specimens tested for residual strength after exposure to elevated temperatures. The main variables in the test program include: (a) concrete type; (b) concrete strength; and (c) curing condition of geopolymer concrete. The test results demonstrate that GCFST columns have similar ambient temperature behaviour compared with the conventional CFST counterparts. However, GCFST columns exhibit better fire resistance than the conventional CFST columns. Meanwhile, it is found that the GCFST column made with heat cured GPC has lower strength loss than other columns after exposure to elevated temperatures. The research results highlight the possibility of using geopolymer concrete to improve the fire resistance of CFST columns.

Normally, Structural light-weight aggregate concrete(LWC) has been main used in high rise building with the object of wight loss. In spite of LWC have the advantage of light-weight, limit the use of strength restrictions by reason that explosive spalling in fire. Especially, LWC is occurred serious fire performance deterioration by explosive spalling. Thus, this study is concerned with fire performance of LWC for the purpose of using PP fibers prevent to explosive spalling. From the experimental test result, LWC is happened explosive spalling.

Four 3-story 1/2 scaled large concrete panel structures were designed and tested to estimate the seismic resistance capacity of large concrete panel high rise building systems, Test specimens were modeled three story of 24 or 15 story buildings and set up to represent the actural stress of the building . The axial force was constant and the horizontal force was loaded by ductility ratio. Results indicated that the joints of specimens were behavied monolithically to maximum strength. It was shown that the joint box connecting system had lower maximum strength and energy dissipation capacity than welding connection system, but had better deformation capacity.

This paper focuses on how the coupling of the columns and walls through the structural slab contributes to the overall stiffness and strength of lateral systems. The rationale and procedures behind the design approach, which may offer a shift from more conventional assumptions made regarding compatibility and connectivity of gravity and lateral structural systems, will be introduced. The impacts on serviceability and strength design will be discussed, and observations on key design and analysis approaches will be featured. Mass and stiffness assumptions will also be reviewed. A case study on the topic will be presented describing implementation of slab coupling into engineering of a building project.

This study is on the strength capacity and the strengthening effects of crarbon fiber sheets(CFS) and glass fiber sheets (GFS) on steel reinforced concrete(SRC) beams. SRC beams are often used on high-rise building construction to save story height and construction cost. However, there are no strengthening design code in Korea and most engineers design it as steel beams ignored the composite effect if reinforced concrete. Test results on steel reinforced concrete beams reveal thar the strength capacity of SRC beam is more than simple addition of steel and reinforced concrete beams. In case of steel reinforced concrete beams, ultimate moment capacity of strengthening beam of carbon fiber sheets is 120% of non-strengthening one.
W-Project is 60-story mixed-use residential building complex project in Daegu, the third biggest city in South Korea. There are lots explorable items to be solved to secure structural safety and meet the serviceability requirements. This paper describes what kind of structural system is optimized based on the architectural requirements and structural components design and the grade of concrete strength altered on floors. The defining process of lateral resisting system of outrigger compared to the core ratio of typical plan is illustrated in detail.

The cold weather concrete poured in the winter season can cause the problem of the Due to recent high-rise building is made. In this research, the nominal mix of the early strength in concrete tried to be set through the mixing proportion experiment for each empirical variable and each component strength properties for the early strength improvement tries to be examined. In the cold weather concrete experiment, the cement and high early strength (type3) cement improving in OPC than OPC was excellent. The polycarboxylic acid based compound was exposed to be excellent in the intensity revelation properties. Because the using of the fly ash was disadvantageous it was excluded from this experiment. It showed the optimum temperature for the intensity revelation up over $12^{\circ}C$.

Shear walls are structural members in buildings that are used extensively in reinforced concrete frame buildings, and almost exclusively in the UK, regardless of whether or not they are actually required. In recent years, the UK construction industry, led by the Concrete Centre, has questioned the need for such structural elements in low to mid-rise reinforced concrete frame buildings. In this context, a typical modern, 5-storey residential building is studied, and its existing shear walls are replaced with columns as used elsewhere in the building. The aim is to investigate the impact of several design variables, including concrete grade, column size, column shape and slab thickness, on the building's structural performance, considering two punching shear limits (VEd/VRd,c), lateral drift and accelerations, to evaluate its maximum possible height under wind actions without the inclusion of shear walls. To facilitate this study, a numerical model has been developed using the ETABS software. The results demonstrate that the building examined does not require shear walls in the design and has no lateral displacement or acceleration issues. In fact, with further analysis, it is shown that a similar building could be constructed up to 13 and 16 storeys high for 2 and 2.5 punching shear ratios (VEd/VRd,c), respectively, with adequate serviceability and strength, without the need for shear walls, albeit with thicker columns.

High strength concrete has a structural advantage as well as superior usability and durability, so that its application in building is being steadily augmented. However, in the high temperature like in a fire, the high strength concrete has extreme danger named explosive spalling. It is known that the major cause of explosive spalling is water vapour pressure inside concrete. General solution for preventing concrete from spalling include applying fire protection coats to concrete in order to control the rising temperature of members in case of fire. The purpose of this study is to investigate the high temperature properties of fireproof mortar using organic fiber and various types of fine aggregate for fire protection covering material. The results showed that addition of perlite and polypropylene fiber to mortar modifies its pore structure and reduces its density. This causes the internal temperature to rise. As a results, it is found that a new fireproof mortar can be used in the fire protection covering material in high strength concrete.
