Experimental Study on Four Cation Exchange Membranes in Electrosynthesis of Ammonium Persulfate

  • In order to improve current efficiency and decrease energy consumption in the electrosynthesis of ammonium persulfate, electrolytic properties of four cation exchange membranes, namely, the $JCM-II^{(R)}$ membrane, $Nafion^{(R)}$ 324 membrane CMI-$7000^{(R)}$ membrane and a self-made perfluorosulfonic ion exchange membrane (PGN membrane) were investigated using a sintered platinized titanium anode and a Pb-Sb-Sn alloy cathode in a self-made electrolytic cell. The effect of cell voltage and electrolyte flow rate on the current efficiency and the energy consumption were investigated. The results indicated that the PGN membrane could improve current efficiency to 94.85% and decrease energy consumption to $1119kWh\;t^{-1}$ (energy consumption per ton of the ammonium persulfate generated) under the optimal operating conditions and the highest current efficiency of the $JCM-II^{(R)}$ membrane, $Nafion^{(R)}$ 324 membrane and CMI-$7000^{(R)}$ membrane were 80.73%, 77.76% and 73.22% with their lowest energy consumption of $1323kWh\;t^{-1}$, $1539kWh\;t^{-1}$ and $2256kWh\;t^{-1}$, respectively. The PGN membrane has the advantages of high current efficiency and energy power consumption and has sufficient mechanical strength with the reinforced mesh. Therefore the PGN membrane will has good value in popularization in the industrial electrosynthesis of ammonium persulfate in the future.

Fe계 벌크 비정질 합금을 이용한 레이저 용접층의 파손 거동 (Failure Behavior of Laser Cladding Layer used by Fe-based Bulk Metallic Glass)

  • 본 연구에서는 가스아토마이저로 제조된 Fe계 벌크비정질 합금 분말을 이용하여 제작된 시험편에 레이저 육성용접을 하였고, 인장시험과 경도시험의 실시 및 미세조직을 관찰하여 육성용접 층의 파괴거동을 분석하였다. 인장시험 결과 육성용접층은 탄성변형 후 바로 파괴가 일어났고, 모재는 소성변형 후 파괴가 일어났다. 육성용접층과 모재의 실제 최대인장강도는 각 각 955.9Mpa과 220.4Mpa이다. 육성용접층과 모재의 미소경도는 각 각 $485.5{\pm}21$$197.4{\pm}14$ 이었고, 육성용접층은 매우 높은 경도를 갖는다. 모재는 조대한 결정립을 갖는 미세 구조를 나타내었다. 인장시험 후 파단면을 고분해능주사전자현미경으로 관찰한 결과 육성용접층과 모재의 파괴형태는 각각 취성파괴와 연성파괴를 나타내었다.

스테인레스강 Overlay 용접부의 Disbonding에 관한 연구 1

  • Many pressure vessels for the hot H$\sub$2//H$\sub$2/S service are made of 2+1/4Cr-1Mo steel with austenitic stainless steel overlay to combat agressive corrosion due to hydrogen sulfide. Hydrogen dissolves in to materials during operation, and sometimes gives rise to unfore-seeable damages. Appropriate precautions must, therefore, be taken to avoid the hydrogen induced damages in the design, fabrication and operation stage of such reactor vessels. Recently, hydrogeninduced cracking (or Disbonding) was found at the interface between base metal and stainless weld overlay of a desulfurizing reactor. Since the stainless steel overlay weld metal is subjected to thermal and internal-pressure loads in reactor operation, it is desirable for the overlay weld metal to have high strength and ductility from the stand point of structural safety. In section III of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Post-Weld Heat Treatment(PWHT) of more than one hour per inch at over 1100.deg. F(593.deg. C) is required for the weld joints of low alloy pressure vessel steels. This heat treatment to relieve stresses in the welded joint during construction of the pressure vessel is considered to cause sensitization of the overlay weld metal. The present study was carried out to make clear the diffusion of carbon migration by PWHT in dissimilar metal welded joint. The main conclusion reached from this study are as follows: 1) The theoretical analysis for diffusion of carbon in stainless steel overlay weld metal does not agree with Fick's 2nd law but the general law of molecular diffusion phenomenon by thermodynamic chemical potential. 2) In the stainless steel overlay welded joint, the PWHT at 720.deg. C for 10 hours causes a diffusion of carbon atoms from ferritic steel into austenitic steel according to the theoretical analysis for carbon migration and its experiment. 3) In case of PWHT at 720.deg. C for 10 hours, the micro-hardness of stainless steel weld metal in bonded zone increase very highly in the carburized layer with remarkable hardening than that of weld metal.

  • 겹치기 마찰교반용접은 새로운 고상접합법이다. 알루미늄 합금 6061-T6는 좋은 내식성과 중량 대비 높은 기계적 강도로 인해 넓은 분야에서 경량부재로 사용되고 있다. 본 논문에서 사용한 검사 방법인 위상잠금 초음파 적외선열화상기법은 넓은 면적을 동시에 검사할 수 있으며, 결함부와 건전부 사이의 위상차로부터 결함의 유무를 판단할 수 있다. 본고의 연구로부터, 위상잠금 적외선열화상기술을 이용하여 용접부의 열영상을 검출하여 기계적 강도와 비교 평가하였다.

J2 와 J3 불변량에 기초한 비대칭 항복함수의 제안(II) (Asymmetric Yield Functions Based on the Stress Invariants J2 and J3(II))

  • The yield criterion, or called yield function, plays an important role in the study of plastic working of a sheet because it governs the plastic deformation properties of the sheet during plastic forming process. In this paper, we propose a modified version of previous anisotropic yield function (Trans. Mater. Process., 31(4) 2022, pp. 214-228) based on J2 and J3 stress invariants. The proposed anisotropic yield model has the 6th-order of stress components. The modified version of the anisotropic yield function in this study is as follows. f(J20,J30) ≡ (J20)3 + α(J30)2 + β(J20)3/2 × (J30) = k6 The proposed anisotropic yield function well explains the anisotropic plastic behavior of various sheets such as aluminum, high strength steel, magnesium alloy sheets etc. by introducing the parameters α and β, and also exhibits both symmetrical and asymmetrical yield surfaces. The parameters included in the proposed model are determined through an optimization algorithm from uniaxial and biaxial experimental data under proportional loading path. In this study, the validity of the proposed anisotropic yield function was verified by comparing the yield surface shape, normalized uniaxial yield stress value, and Lankford's anisotropic coefficient R-value derived with the experimental results. Application for the proposed anisotropic yield function to AA6016-T4 aluminum and DP980 sheets shows symmetrical yielding behavior and to AZ31B magnesium shows asymmetric yielding behavior, it was shown that the yield locus and yielding behavior of various types of sheet materials can be predicted reasonably by using the proposed anisotropic yield function.

박형 태양 전지 모듈화를 위한 레이져 태빙 자동화 공정(장비) 개발 (Development on New Laser Tabbing Process for Modulation of Thin Solar Cell)

  • In solar cell module manufacturing, single solar cells has to be joined electrically to strings. Copper stripes coated with tin-silver-copper alloy are joined on screen printed silver of solar cells which is called busbar. The bus bar collects the electrons generated in solar cell and it is connected to the next cell in the conventional module manufacturing by a metal stringer using conventional hot air or infrared lamp soldering systems. For thin solar cells, both soldering methods have disadvantages, which heats up the whole cell to high temperatures. Because of the different thermal expansion coefficient, mechanical stresses are induced in the solar cell. Recently, the trend of solar cell is toward thinner thickness below 180um and thus the risk of breakage of solar cells is increasing. This has led to the demand for new joining processes with high productivity and reduced error rates. In our project, we have developed a new method to solder solar cells with a laser heating source. The soldering process using diode laser with wavelength of 980nm was examined. The diode laser used has a maximum power of 60W and a scanner system is used to solder dimension of 6" solar cell and the beam travel speed is optimized. For clamping copper stripe to solar cell, zirconia(ZrO)coated iron pin-spring system is used to clamp both joining parts during a scanner system is traveled. The hot plate temperature that solar cell is positioned during lasersoldering process is optimized. Also, conventional solder joints after $180^{\circ}C$ peel tests are compared to the laser soldering methods. Microstructures in welded zone shows that the diffusion zone between solar cell and metal stripes is better formed than inIR soldering method. It is analyzed that the laser solder joints show no damages to the silicon wafer and no cracks beneath the contact. Peel strength between 4N and 5N are measured, with much shorter joining time than IR solder joints and it is shown that the use of laser soldering reduced the degree of bending of solar cell much less than IR soldering.

  • 본 연구는 평판형 히터용 금속방열판상의 세라믹 절연층 제조, 즉 절연성 금속기판에 관한 것이다. 반도체나 디스플레이의 열처리 공정 등에 사용되는 평판형 히터를 제조함에 있어서, 온도 균일도를 높이기 위해 금속 방열판으로서 열전도율이 높고, 비교적 가벼우며, 가공성 좋은 알루미늄 합금 기판이 선호된다. 이 알루미늄 기판에 발열 회로 패턴을 형성하기 위해서는 금속 기판에 절연층으로서 고온 안정성이 우수한 세라믹 유전체막을 코팅하여야 한다. 금속 기판상에 세라믹 절연층을 형성함에 있어서 가장 빈번히 발생하는 첫 번째 문제는 금속과 세라믹의 이종재료 간의 큰 열팽창계수 차이와 약한 결합력에 의한 층간박리 및 균열발생이다. 두 번째 문제는 절연층의 소재 및 구조적 결함에 따른 절연파괴이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제점 해소를 위해 금속소재 기판과 세라믹 절연층 사이에 완충층을 도입하여 이들 간의 기계적 매칭과 접합력 개선을 도모하였고, 다중코팅 방법을 적용하여 절연막의 품질과 내전압 특성을 개선하고자 하였다.

Si and Mg doped Hydroxyapatite Film Formation by Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation

  • Titanium and its alloys are widely used as implants in orthopedics, dentistry and cardiology due to their outstanding properties, such as high strength, high level of hemocompatibility and enhanced biocompatibility. Hence, recent works showed that the synthesis of new Ti-based alloys for implant application involves more biocompatible metallic alloying element, such as, Nb, Hf, Zr and Mo. In particular, Nb and Hf are one of the most effective Ti ${\beta}-stabilizer$ and reducing the elastic modulus. Plasma electrolyte oxidation (PEO) is known as excellent method in the biocompatibility of biomaterial due to quickly coating time and controlled coating condition. The anodized oxide layer and diameter modulation of Ti alloys can be obtained function of improvement of cell adhesion. Silicon (Si) and magnesium (Mg) has a beneficial effect on bone. Si in particular has been found to be essential for normal bone and cartilage growth and development. In vitro studies have shown that Mg plays very important roles in essential for normal growth and metabolism of skeletal tissue in vertebrates and can be detected as minor constituents in teeth and bone. The aim of this study is to research Si and Mg doped hydroxyapatite film formation by plasma electrolytic oxidation. Ti-29Nb-xHf (x= 0, 3, 7 and 15wt%, mass fraction) alloys were prepared Ti-29Nb-xHf alloys of containing Hf up from 0 wt% to 15 wt% were melted by using a vacuum furnace. Ti-29Nb-xHf alloys were homogenized for 2 hr at $1050^{\circ}C$. Each alloy was anodized in solution containing typically 0.15 M calcium acetate monohydrate + 0.02 M calcium glycerophosphate at room temperature. A direct current power source was used for the process of anodization. Anodized alloys was prepared using 270V~300V anodization voltage at room. A Si and Mg coating was produced by RF-magnetron sputtering system. RF power of 100W was applied to the target for 1h at room temperature. The microstructure, phase and composition of Si and Mg coated oxide surface of Ti-29Nb-xHf alloys were examined by FE-SEM, EDS, and XRD.

Ir-RE 코팅 대비 자장여과필터방식을 이용한 비구면 유리 렌즈용 초경합금(WC)표면의 ta-C 박막 코팅 성능 개선 연구 (A Study on the Performance Improvement of ta-C Thin Films Coating on Tungsten Carbide(WC) Surface for Aspherical Glass Lens by FCVA Method Compared with Ir-Re coating)

  • 작은 굴절률 및 높은 굴절률을 갖는 저 분산 렌즈에 대한 요구가 증가함에 따라, 높은 내열성 및 내마모성을 갖는 이형성 보호 필름에 대한 필요성이 증가하고 있다. 그러나 광학 산업은 비구면 유리 렌즈 성형에 사용되는 이형보호 필름의 제조 공정 및 품질 표준에 대한 명확한 표준을 아직 확립하지 못했다. 이 기술은 광학 렌즈를 제조하는 각 회사의 노하우로 취급된다. 본 연구에서는 FCVA (Filtered Cathode Vacuum Arc) 기반 ta-C 박막 코팅의 이온에칭, 각 소스 및 필터부의 마그네트론 및 아크 전류, 바이어스 전압의 최적화에 관한 실험을 수행하였다. 그 결과, 코팅성능 측면에서, 이리듐- 레늄 합금 박막 스퍼터링 제품 대비 필름 두께가 약 50% 얇고, 경도는 약 20%, 박막의 접착강도는 약 40 % 개선된 것으로 측정되었다. 본 연구의 박막 코팅 공정 결과는 금형 이형 박막층의 최소 기계적 특성 및 품질 확립을 위한 유리 렌즈의 개발 및 활용에 크게 기여할 것으로 사료된다.

함정용 Al 및 Zn 희생양극의 효율에 미치는 첨가원소 영향 (Effect of Additional Elements on Efficiency of Al and Zn Sacrificial Anode for Naval Vessels)

  • 함정에 사용되는 선체재료로는 연강, 고장력강, 고강도강, 알루미늄 합금 및 복합재료 등이 있다. 그 중 함정의 선체는 수밀과 강도의 유지 및 탑재장비의 지지 등 기본적인 기능을 위하여 철강 재료를 주로 사용하고 있다. 함정의 주 임무는 해양에서 작전을 수행하는 것이므로 해수에 의한 선체 부식이 필연적으로 발생하게 된다. 선체의 부식을 방지하기 위하여 도장 방법, 희생양극법 및 강제 전류 방식이 사용되고 있다. 특히 Al 및 Zn을 활용한 희생양극법의 경우 부식특성 개선을 위하여 인듐(In), 카드뮴(Cd) 및 납(Pb) 등의 중금속이 첨가되어 있다. 하지만 이러한 중금속은 인체 및 환경에 매우 유해하므로 전 세계적으로 사용이 점차 규제되고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 인체 및 환경에 무해한 미세원소(Ma, Ca, Ce 및 Sn)를 첨가하여 Al 및 Zn 합금을 제조하였다. 제조된 함정용 Al 및 Zn 희생양극의 효율 특성 측정을 위하여 SEM, XRD, 동전위 분극실험 및 전류효율 평가를 실시하였으며, 실험결과 Al-3Zn-0.6Sn 및 Zn-3Sn 합금의 양극 성능이 다른 합금 보다 효율성이 우수하였다.
