  • Recently a supercavitating underwater vehicle moving at high speed over 200 knots has been of interest for its practical advantage of the dramatic drag reduction. Many experimental and numerical studies have been explored, however most of the studies deal with the case of uniform flows. In this paper, we investigated physical behaviors of the artificial supercavity in a periodic gust flow. Experiments were carried out at a cavitation tunnel of the Chungnam National University(CNUCT), which is equipped to remove the gas supplied from outside of the tunnel. We devised an experimental apparatus generating vertical and horizontal gust flows, and investigated the supercavity formations at different periodic mode of the incoming flow.

  • In this research, a 8-bit CMOS 2 stage folding A/D converter is designed, For low power consumption and small chip size, the A/D converter is designed by using folding and interpolation circuit. Folding circuit is composed of the transistor differential pairs which are connected in parallel. It reduces the number of comparator drastically. The analog block composed of folding block, current interpolation circuit, and three stage current comparator is designed with differential-mode for high speed operation. The simulation in a $0.35\;{\mu}m$ CMOS process. shows DNL and SNDR of 0.5LSB and 47 dB at 250 MHz/s sampling frequency.

  • High efficiency operation is required for motors of vehicle to increase fuel efficiency due to the regulation of exhaust gas. This paper presents a control method of fuel pressure to increase fuel efficiency and a sensorless control method of BLDC motor to get higher efficiency than conventional brushed DC motor. Initial rotor position of BLDC motor is detected from current value that is occurred by test voltage pulse and rotor is accelerated by defined sequence to enter sensorless operation mode. The algorithm to control flow rate of fuel pump uses PI controller that is control motor speed to maintain the target fuel pressure commanded by ECU.

  • The therapeutic use of protein pharmaceuticals produced by recombinant DNA technology is increasing in recent decades. In order to investigate the quality of recombinant proteins, it is important to identify and assign the impurities produced in the process of recombination or in storage conditions. Capillary Electrophoresis is emerging technology exhibiting high sensitivity, selectivity and speed and may be most powerful tools for this application. In this study, human growth hormone (hGH) has been analyzed by various mode of capillary electrophoresis such as capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE), capillary gel electrophoresis (CGE), and capillary isoelectric focusing (cIEF) to indicate the chemically or biologically oriented variants and the degraded fragments. • This paper presents a study on the wave propagation of functionally graded material (FGM) sandwich nanoplates with soft core resting on a Winkler foundation. The structure is modelled by classical theory. Motion equations are derived by the assumption of nonlocal Eringen theory and energy method. Then, the equations are solved using an exact method for finding phase velocity responses. The effects of Winkler foundation, nonlocal parameters, thickness and mode number on the dispersion of elastic waves are shown. With the increase of spring constant, the speed of wave propagation increases and reaches a uniform state at a higher wave number.

  • For transmitting the ultra-high speed optical signals with better performance, the techniques to suppress or mitigate the signal distortion due to group velocity dispersion and optical Kerr effects are required. Dispersion management (DM), optical phase conjugation, and the combination of these two are promising techniques to compensate for the signal distortion. However, the fixed length of single mode fiber (SMF) and the fixed residual dispersion per span (RDPS) usually used in these optical links restricts flexible link configuration. The goal of this paper is to investigate the possibility of the flexible configurations of the ultra-high and long-haul optical transmission systems by using the artificial and the random distribution of SMF length and RDPS of each fiber spans consisted of the optical link. It is confirmed that the proposed link configurations should be one of the methods suitable for implementing the flexible optical transmission systems, however which depend on other link parameters, such as the averaged RDPS, and the launch power.

  • In applying LCD to TV application, one of the most significant factors to be improved is image sticking on the moving picture. LCD is different from CRT in the sense that it's continuous passive device, which holds images in entire frame period, while impulse type device generate image in very short time. To reduce image sticking problem related to hold type display mode, we made an experiment to drive TN-LCD like CRT. We made articulate images by fast refreshing images, and we realized the ratio of refresh time by counting between on time and off time for video signal input during 1 frame (16.7ms). Conventional driving signal cannot follow fast on-off speed, so we evaluated new signal generator using SDI (Serial Data Interface) mode signal generator. We realized articulate image generation similar to CRT by high fast full HD (High Definition) signals and TN-LCD overdriving. As a result, reduced image sticking phenomenon was validated by naked eye and response time measurement.
