This paper deals with the formation and development of hierarchical ranking stmcture among universities in Korea and the nature of university education. As the growing number of university graduates have trouble with finding job opportunity, the development of skills and competency which are required for the labor market is becoming the most important role for universities. Finally, I proposed several policy suggestions to overcome negative aspect of hierarchical ranking structure of university.

This paper proposes a hierarchical Hausdorff distance (HD) matching algorithm baased on coarse-to-fine approach. It reduces the computational complexity greatly by using the pyramidal structures consisting of distance transform (DT) and edge pyramids. Also, inthe proposed hierarchical HD matching, a thresholding method is presented to find an optimal matching position with small error, in which the threshold values are determined by using the property between adjacent level of a DT map pyramid. By computer simulation, the performance of the conventional and proposed hierarchical HD matching algorithms is compared in therms of the matching position for binary images containing uniform noise.

Generally, most of researches that need a variable-clustering process use an exploratory factor analysis technique or a divisive hierarchical variable-clustering method based on a correlation matrix. And some researchers apply a object-clustering method to a distance matrix transformed from a correlation matrix, though this approach is known to be improper. On this paper an agglomerative hierarchical variable-clustering method based on a correlation matrix itself is suggested. It is derived from a geometric concept by using variate-spaces and a characterizing variate.

We propose a class of hierarchical Bayes estimators of the error variance under the relative squared error loss in balanced fixed-effects two-way analysis of variance models. Also we provide analytic expressions for the risk improvement of the hierarchical Bayes estimators over multiples of the error sum of squares. Using these expressions we identify a subclass of the hierarchical Bayes estimators each member of which dominates the best multiple of the error sum of squares which is known to be minimax. Numerical values of the percentage risk improvement are given in some special cases.

This paper proposes a MOS circuit extractor which extracts a netlist from the hierarchical mask information, for the verification tools. To utilize the regularity and the simple representation of the hierarchical circuit, and to reduce the debug cycle of design, verification, and modification, we propose a hierarvhical and incremental circuit extraction algorithm. In flat circuit extraction stage, the multiple storage quad tree is used as an internal data structure. Incremental circuit extraction using the hierarchical structure is made possible, to reduce the re-extraction time of the modified circuit.

When exchanging user data between nodes in a hierarchical conference system using the endpoint mixing scheme, the hierarchical structure may cause extra delay. The algorithm[1] was proposed for minimizing the media delay between the number of the neighboring nodes. In this paper, we implement a hierarchical conference with SIP protocol based on the algorithm.

The scheduling algorithm based on the hierarchical scheduling policy is presented for the Job Shop type FMC control, and the simulation results using this hierarchical scheduling policy are with the results which are based on the heuristic scheduling policy. The results show that the hierarchical ling policy is more efficient than the heuristic scheduling policy in either case that there exist machine failures in the FMC or not.

Hierarchical network 기술은 다양한 크기의 이동통신 셀들이 서로 중첩된 환경에서 무선 용량 증대 및 셀 커버리지 확대를 위한 차세대 통신 기술이다. 모바일 IPTV는 IPTV에 이동성이 더해진 기술로서 이동통신망을 이용하여 언제, 어디서나 고품질의 TV 및 VoD, 데이터 서비스를 제공한다. 본고에서는 IEEE 802.16 기반의 hierarchical network 및 모바일 IPTV 기술의 연구동향을 살펴보고 두 기술의 공존 가능성 측면에서의 고려 사항에 대해 기술한다.

일반적으로 축구 비디오 데이터는 멀티모달과 멀티레이어 속성을 지닌다. 이러한 데이터를 다루기 적합한 모델은 동적 베이지안 네트워크(Dynamic Bayesian Network: DBN) 형태의 위계적 은닉 마르코프 모델(Hierarchical Hidden Markov Model: HHMM)이다. 이러한 HHMM 중 다중속성의 특징들이 서로 상호작용하는 PHHMM(Product Hierarchical Hidden Markov Model)이 있다. 본 논문에서는 PHHMM 을 축구 경기의 Play/Break 이벤트 검색 및 분석에 적용하였고 바람직한 결과를 얻었다.

The hierarchical cell structure consists of the macrocell and microcells to increase the system capacity and to achieve broad coverage. The hierarchical cell structure provides services for users in different mobility. In this paper, an analytical queueing model in mobile networks is proposed for the performance evaluation of the hierarchical cell structure. The model for networks with the multiple levels can simplify multi-dimensional ones into one-dimensional queueing model. The computational advantage will be growing as the layers are constructed in multiple levels. The computer simulation is provided for validating the proposed analytical model.
