  • In this paper, applications of self recurrent neuro-fuzzy controller to stabilization of nonlinear system are considered. The architecture of self recurrent neuro-fuzzy controller is fix layer, and the hidden layer is comprised of self recurrent architecture. Also, generalized dynamic error-backpropagation algorithm is used for the learning of the self recurrent neuro-fuzzy controller. To demonstrate the efficiency of the self recurrent neuro-fuzzy control algorithm presented in this study, a self recurrent neuro-fuzzy controller was designed and then a comparative analysis was made with LQR controller through an simulation.

  • Mechanical valve is one of the most widely used implantable artificial organs, Since its failure (mechanical failures and thrombosis to name two representative example) means the death of patient, its reliability is very important and early noninvasive detection is essential requirement . This paper will explain the method to detect the thrombosis formation by spectral analysis and neural network. In order quantitatively to distinguish peak of a normal valve from that of a thrombotic valve, a 3 layer backpropagation neural network, which contains 7,000 input nodes, 20 hidden layer and 1output , was employed. The trained neural network can distinguish normal and thrombotic valve with a probability that is higher than 90% . In conclusion, the acoustical spectrum analysis coupled with a neural network algorithm lent itself to the noninvasive monitoring of implanted mechanical valves. This method will be applied to be applied to the performance evaluation of other implantable rtificial organs.

  • This paper proposes the robot inverse calibration method using a neural networks. A highorder networks called Pi-Sigma networks has been used. The Pi-Sigma networks uses linear summing units in the hidden layer and product unit in output layer. The inverse calibration model which compensates the difference of joint variables only between measuring value and analytic value about the desired pose(position orientation) of a robot is proposed. The compensated values are determined by using the weights obtained from the learning process of the neural networks previously. To prove the reasonableness the SCARA type direct drive robot(4-DOF) and anthropomorphic robot(6-DOF) are simulated. It shows that the proposed calibration method can reduce the errors of the joint variables from $\pm$3 to $\pm$0.1.

  • A prediction method for determining the welding residual stress by artificial neural network is proposed. A three-dimensional transient thermomechanical analysis has been performed for the CO $_{2}$ Arc Welding using the finite element method. The validity of the above results is demonstrated by experimental elastic stress relief method which is called Holl Drilling Method. The first part of numarical analysis performs a three-dimensional transient heat transfer anslysis, and the second part then uses results of the first part and performs a three-dimensional transient thermo-clasto-plastic analysis to compute transient and residual stresses in the weld. Data from the finite element method were used to train a backpropagation neural network to predict residual stress. Architecturally, the finite element method were used to train a backpropagation voltage and the current, a hidden layer to accommodate failure mechanism mapping, and an output layer for residual stress. The trained network was then applied to the prediction of residual stress in the four specimens. The results of predicted residual stress have been very encouraging.

  • Forecasting of water quality variation is not an easy process due to the complicated nature of various water quality factors and their interrelationships. The objective of this study is to test the applicability of neural network models to the forecasting of the water quality at Dalchun station in Han River. Input data is consist of monthly data of concentration of DO, BOD, COD, SS and river flow. And this study selected optimal neural network model through changing the number of hidden layer based on input layer(n) from n to 6n. After neural network theory is applied, the models go through training, calibration and verification.   • In this paper, our study for the recognition of Hand-written Korean characters, Arabic numbers and alphabets by neural netwoks. This System extracts feature of character by using the MESH feature point of handwritten character, Arabic numbers and alphabets. To reduce the input image data, features are extracted from each input images. A MLP(multi-layer perceptron) with one hidden layer was trained with a modified BEP(back error propagation) algorithm. This method extracts feature sets of the characters directly from the scanner and can enhance computation speed without using the special preprocesses such as size normalization, smoothing, and thinning.

  • Selection of optimal cutting conditions is important for improving productivity and implementing efficient process control in metal machining. In this study, improvement of cutting conditions in machining using end-mills is studied by using deep-layered neural networks, which comprise an input layer, output layer, and two hidden layers. System networks are designed with inputs as cutting conditions, and they output the cutting force. A pseudo-inverse network is designed that has the adjustable cutting condition as output and cutting force and other cutting conditions as input. The combination of the system network and pseudo-inverse network enables selection or improvement of cutting conditions that results in the expected cutting force.

  • In this paper, we proposed a method of segmenting speech signal by neural network and its validity is proved by computer simulation. The neural network Is composed of multi layer perceptrons with one hidden layer. The matching accuracies of the proposed algorithm are measured for continuous vowel and place names. The resulting average matching accuracy is 100% for speaker-dependent case, 99.5% for speaker-independent case and 94.5% for each place name when the neural network 1,; trained for 6 place names simultaneously.

  • In this study, we developed a snoring detection algorithm that detects snores automatically. It consists of preprocessing and snoring detection part. The preprocessing part is composed of a noise removal part using spectrum subtraction, and segmentation part, and computation part of temporal and spectral features. And the snoring detection part decides whether detected blocks are snores with BPNN(Back-Propagation Neural Network). BPNN with one hidden layer and one output layer, is trained with data of 7 subjects and tested with data of 11 subjects of total 18 subjects. The proposed algorithm showed a Sensitivity of 90.41% and a Predictive Positive Value of 84.95%.

  • A study for the recognition of the Korean characters by a neural network is presented. To reduce the dimension of the input image data, DC components are extracted from each input image and used as input to the neural net. A multi-layer perceptron with one hidden layer was trained with back-error propagation training algorithm. Its performance is tested for 24 ${\times}$ 24 binary images of Korean characters and the results of several experiments are presented.
