Spatial information could be obtained from spaceborne high resolution optical and synthetic aperture radar(SAR) images. However, some satellite images do not provide physical sensor information instead, rational polynomial coefficients(RPC) are available. The objectives of this study are: (1) 3-dimensional ground coordinates were computed by applying rational function model(RFM) with the RPC for the stereo pair of Ikonos images and their accuracy was evaluated. (2) Interferometric SAR(InSAR) was applied to JERS-1 images to generate DEM and its accuracy was analysis. (3) Quality of the DEM generated automatically also analyzed for different types of terrain in the study site. The overall accuracy was evaluated by comparing with GPS surveying data. The height offset in the RPC was corrected by estimating bias. In consequence, the accuracy was improved. Accuracy of the DEMs generated from InSAR with different selection of GCP was analyzed. In case of the Ikonos images, the results show that the overall RMSE was 0.23327", 0.l1625" and 13.70m in latitude, longitude and height, respectively. The height accuracy was improved after correcting the height offset in the RPC. i.e., RMSE of the height was 1.02m. As for the SAR image, RMSE of the height was 10.50m with optimal selection of GCP. For the different terrain types, the RMSE of the height for urban, forest and flat area was 23.65m, 8.54m, 0.99m, respectively for Ikonos image while the corresponding RMSE was 13.82m, 18.34m, 10.88m, respectively lot SAR image.

GNSS/Leveling technology makes it possible to get geoidal height geometrically using GNSS and Leveling technology. GNSS/Geoid technology refers to a technology for obtaining orthometric height by subtracting geoidal height achieved by Geoid technology from ellipsoidal height achieved by GNSS technology. The purpose of this study is to verify the accuracy of the ellipsoidal height determination in order to verify the accuracy of the orthometric height determination by the GNSS/Geoid technology. For the study, a test bed was selected in Kyungnam province and GNSS Static surveying was accomplished in the test bed and then the GNSS data was processed in accordance with various analysis conditions. So, it was verified the accuracy of the ellipsoidal heights determination in accordance with the surveying conditions under the GNSS Static surveying. According to the research results, to ensure the 3cm goal accuracy of the ellipsoidal height determination, it should be surveyed by four fixed points on the survey area periphery and more than two hours of the GNSS occupation time, And also, it was found that should be limited to a baseline distance of 20km under the GNSS Static surveying.

In this paper, we propose a system termed ForestLi that can accurately estimate the diameter at breast height (DBH) and tree height using LiDAR point cloud data. The ForestLi system processes LiDAR point cloud data through the following steps: downsampling, outlier removal, ground segmentation, ground height normalization, stem extraction, individual tree segmentation, and DBH and tree height measurement. A commercial system, such as LiDAR360, for processing LiDAR point cloud data requires the user to directly correct errors in lower vegetation and individual tree segmentation. In contrast, the ForestLi system can automatically remove LiDAR point cloud data that correspond to lower vegetation in order to improve the accuracy of estimating DBH and tree height. This enables the ForestLi system to reduce the total processing time as well as enhance the accuracy of accuracy of measuring DBH and tree height compared to the LiDAR360 system. We performed an empirical study to confirm that the ForestLi system outperforms the LiDAR360 system in terms of the total processing time and accuracy of measuring DBH and tree height.

To compensate for the shortcomings of spirit leveling, research on the determination of GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System)-derived orthometric height has been actively carried out. However, most analyses were primarily performed inland. In this study, the influences of the arrangement of control points, observation duration, and geoid model on the accuracy of the GNSS-derived orthometric height have been analyzed to suggest the proper method to apply the determination of GNSS-derived orthometric height to the leveling loop disconnected area. As a result, it was found that two known points located near the unknown points need to be fixed in the leveling loop disconnected area. Further, 3 cm level of accuracy can be achieved if the GNSS survey is performed over two days, for four hours per day. In terms of the geoid model, the latest national geoid model should be applied rather than the EGM08 (Earth Gravitational Model 2008) to minimize regional bias and increase accuracy. Future research is necessary to apply the determination of the GNSS-derived orthometric height technique as a method to connect with the islands because the vertical reference system used inland and that used for the islands in Korea are still different.

Height micrometer is a kind of end standards. It consists of a stack of gage blocks which is capable of moving up and down by a micrometer head. Height micrometer requires calibration with very high accuracy because its resolution is generally 1 .mu. m and its accuracy is higher than few micro- meters. Conventionally, comparison with gage blocks is used to calibrate height micrometer, but it is less accurate and time consuming method. A height micrometer calibration system using a laser interferometer instead of gage blocks has been developed. The measuring range of the system is 300mm, and the accuracy is better than ${\pm}0.5{\mu}m$ A new method of maintaining the laser-beam alignment is described as well.

The National Forestry Inventory of Korea has started the 7th (2016 ~ 2020) survey from the first (1972 ~ 1974) National Forest Situation Survey. The diameter at breast height was measured using a diameter tape, and the tree height was measured using a hypsometer in the National Forestry Inventory of Korea from the 1st to recently the 7th surveying. In the case of the diameter tape, however, irregularly shaped trees may cause a large error. In the case of a hypsometer, the height may be measured indirectly in 10 cm increments to the front edge of the tree, so that the accuracy may be lowered. This paper suggests the use of SLAM to improve the accuracy and advance forest investigations. For this purpose, a test bed for the measurement of DBH and tree height was set up, and the scan data was acquired directly using SLAM equipment. The accuracy of DBH and tree height measurements were analyzed. As a result, it was possible to calculate directly the DBH and tree height to 1mm unit, and it showed that the DBH accuracy of 2cm or less and the accuracy of the tree height accuracy of 1.3cm or less are sufficient for practical use. Based on the results, the scan data will be acquired for sample points and analyzed.
Vegetation classes, especially grass and tree classes, are often confused in classification when conventional spectral pattern recognition techniques are used to classify urban areas. This paper reports on a study to improve the classification results by using an automated process of considering height information in separating urban vegetation classes, specifically tree and grass, using three-band, high-spatial resolution, digital aerial imagery. Height information was derived photogrammetrically from stereo pair imagery using cross correlation image matching to estimate differential parallax for vegetation pixels. A threshold value of differential parallax was used to assess whether the original class was correct. The average increase in overall accuracy for three test stereo pairs was $7.8\%$, and detailed examination showed that pixels reclassified as grass improved the overall accuracy more than pixels reclassified as tree. Visual examination and statistical accuracy assessment of four test areas showed improvement in vegetation classification with the increase in accuracy ranging from $3.7\%\;to\;18.1\%$. Vegetation classification can, in fact, be improved by adding height information to the classification procedure.

This investigation aims at calculating the geoid height, distance between the ellipsoidal height and the orthometric height by GPS/Levelling data for nationwide 58 Bench Marks, and calculating the effect of geoid height to engineering public works. The accuracy of the results from baseline analyses and adjustment of a network. using GPS surveying data by nationwide 58 BM show 4mm for horizontal direction and 7cm for vertical direction. The 58 geoid height was calculated by GPS/Levelling. For a construction work field GPS/Levelling for distributed 4 BM in test area can calculate the orthometric height in 20 ppm relativity accuracy with 95% reliability. Besides the calculated geoid height in the investigation was 0.367m higher than EGM96 model. The test results of a engineering work site, the result by EGM96 model was 1.8cm in 10km and it was also 3.6cm in interpolation method. The results show that it is equivalent to levelling of $20mm\sqrt{S}$.

There are many previous researches such as verification of accuracy, application, and change detection of discrete return LiDAR data, but no researches for full waveform LiDAR data. In this study, we selected the forest area and urban area as case study areas and compared the height accuracy of full waveform LiDAR data with field surveying data. As a result, we got an RMSE of 3.lcm in urban area, 4.7cm in forest area, and it is verified that height accuracy of full waveform LiDAR is high. We think that it is very usefull in aerial photogrammetry.
