Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of psychosocial wellbeing status and self efficacy on health-promoting behavior of nursing students, and to explore the experiences related to health-promoting behavior. Methods: For this study, an explanatory sequential mixed method design approach was used with survey data collected from 148 nursing students. In addition, qualitative data for exploration of health-promoting behavior experience were collected from three focus-group interviews of 17 participants. Quantitative data were analyzed with SPSS/WIN 25.0 and qualitative data were analyzed by making contents analysis with Nvivo 12.0. Results: The results showed that psychosocial wellbeing status, self efficacy, grade, and regularity meal explained 43.0% of the variance in health-promoting behavior. And seven themes from the collected significant statements about experience of health-promoting behavior included the daily life going on without delay; changes in body which is felt; recognizing the necessity of health care; making efforts to increase physical activities; revising eating habit; looking for the way to relieve stress; and attempting to divert my thoughts. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop and verify health program in order to improve nursing students' health-promoting behavior. And university authorities and government should make an effort to improve nursing students' health-promoting behavior.
The purpose of this study is to identify the practical knowledge about osteoporosis and health promoting behavior possessed by male and female university students in their twenties. Next, the study seeks to analyze the difference in the degree of knowledge and practice of health promoting behavior depending on the students' area of study (health-related or non-health-related major) and previous education about osteoporosis. A survey was given to 300 male and female university students in Jeju Island from November 18 to December 6, 2013. Regarding knowledge about osteoporosis, the accuracy rate of health science major participants was 16.8 % higher than that of those of non-health science, and the accuracy rate of participants with previous education about osteoporosis was 12.9 % higher than those who had not. Health promoting behavior showed a higher degree of practice among students in health-related majors and those with previous applicable education. There were significant differences between the knowledge of osteoporosis and major and the presence and absence of prior education. Regarding the degree of health promoting behavior and major, the presence or absence of prior education showed significant differences. Among male and female students in their twenties, the recognition of knowledge about osteoporosis is very low. There is a need to develop various programs that focus on osteoporosis prevention rather than treatment, to improve the quality of education and training content according to the individual, and to lower the target age for osteoporosis education.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate perception and satisfaction with Health Education for elementary school students in grade 5 and 6, using data on national health education gathered since March, 2009. Methods: Data were collected by way of a questionnaire, from 475 elementary school students in grades 5 and 6 from February 1~15, 2010. Statistical analysis of collected data was performed using frequency, t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis, using SPSS 18.0 software. Result: Levels of health promoting behavior, interest, importance, and satisfaction were relatively high, respectively, and those of students in grade 5 were higher than those of students in grade 6. Levels of Satisfaction with frequency and educational environment were relatively low. Among the factors found to influence satisfaction with health education, interest in health education was found to be the most influential(grade 5:${\beta}$=.279, p<.001, grade 6:${\beta}$=.306, p<.001). Conclusion: Students expressed a high level of satisfaction with regular health education. Expansion of health education frequency and health education-only-classrooms is needed. To improve the effect of health education, constant acquisition of knowledge of subjects' perception and satisfaction is needed. In addition, contents and teaching methods that showed low level of satisfaction should be reformed.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the current conditions and to analysis the needs of health education contents in school nurses and elementary school children. Methods : The survey was conducted through the questionnaire with school nurses and students. Subjects were 60 school nurse and 1483 elementary school children. Data was collected based on the from Mar to Apr. 2004. Finally, data was analyzed using mean, SD, and t-test. Results : The students need the health education related safety, oral hygiene, visual promotion, scoliosis prevention, cyber addiction prevention, anti-bullying and school violence prevention. School nurses suggest the contents of health education such as sex education, drug misuse and overuse prevention. There was also a difference in the need of health education among the school nurse and students. Conclusion:I suggest that health education should be conducted taking students' demand in each grade into consideration. School nurses need to positively improve the priorities of health education based on the students' demand.
This study is intended to identify relationship between stress, self-esteem and mental health in nursing students. The data were collected from 448 nursing students using self-report questionnaire. The data were analyzed by frequencies, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and Stepwise multiple regression using the SPSS 19.0 program. The result are as followed; First, the average of stress, self-esteem, and mental health was $1.25{\pm}0.55$, $3.33{\pm}0.42$, and $2.79{\pm}1.20$ point. Second, mental health was correlated with stress positively and self-esteem negatively. Third, the influencing factor in mental health of the participant were interpersonal relationship and clinical based stress, $R^2=.561$. Thus, development of guidance program to improve mental health of nursing students is recommended.

A frequency, % and $x^2-test$ were used to analysis by SAS program. Result: 1. It showed that 98.1% of elementary school students, 92.3% of middle school students, 89.6% of high school students answered that they need health education. The most of students, parents, and general teachers had high interests in health education. 2. Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate factors influencing on health promotion behaviors in public health course of college students. Methods : Subjects were 325 dental hygiene students and they completed self-reported questionnaires including health promotion behaviors, self efficacy, self esteem, and general characteristics from May 13 to 24, 2013. Students were recruited by sample convenience extraction. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 18.0 for descriptive statistics, t-test, one way ANOVA and multiple regression analysis. Results : Health promotion behaviors were closely related to concern for health care (p<0.001) and concern for health related goods (p<0.01). High self-efficacy and high self-esteem showed concern for health care (p<0.001). 2. Health promotion behaviors had significantly positive correlation with self efficacy, self esteem, and perceived health condition. 3. The most powerful predictor in health promotion behaviors was self efficacy. Health promotion behavior programs should put emphasis on exercise and diet control and can be improved by behavioral change.
Objectives: This study attempted to examine the association between health literacy and health-promoting behavior, and identify the major variables that affect the health-promoting behavior of university students. Methods: This was a descriptive correlation study that identified the degree of health literacy and health-promoting behavior of 248 university students (119 male and 129 female) and examined the correlation between the two and factors influencing them. The questionnaire covering health literacy comprised 66 questions, and that for health-promoting behavior comprised 10 questions covering eating habits, 3 questions about physical activity, and 10 questions involving stress. Results: The score for health literacy was 41.56 ± 18.38 out of 66 points, and that for health-promoting behavior was 65.27 ± 11.21 points (27.61 ± 6.72 points for eating habits, 7.23 ± 2.56 points for physical activity, and 30.44 ± 5.61 points for stress). Health literacy and health-promoting behavior had a significant positive correlation (r = 0.175, P < 0.01). The perceived health status (β = 0.391, P < 0.001) was the most important variable in health-promoting behavior, followed by health literacy (β = 0.236, P < 0.001). Conclusions: It is necessary to develop a systematic educational strategy and implement educational programs to improve health literacy as well as encourage health-promoting behavior and thus increase the perceived health levels of university students.
