Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the oral health behavior in the upper grades of elementary school in relation to oral health literacy and oral health knowledge. Methods: A survey on the general characteristics, oral health literacy, oral health knowledge, and oral health behavior was administered to students in the upper grades of five elementary schools in Daegu and Gyeongbuk, South Korea, from March to June, 2018. Finally, a total of 236 questionnaires were analyzed. Results: Oral health literacy in accordance with oral health behavior was high when oral health behavior was high (p<0.05). The results of multiple regression analysis of the general characteristics, oral health knowledge, oral health literacy, and oral health behavior were analyzed as follows: Y (oral health behavior) = 2.028 + 0.113 (oral health literacy) (p<0.05). Conclusions: To ensure appropriate oral health behavior among elementary school students, it is necessary to develop systematic programs in elementary schools to provide oral health education to increase oral health literacy and oral health knowledge.
Objectives : This study was to examined the degree of oral health knowledge, attitude of periodontal diseases and dental health behaviors and to examine the relationship among variables in 12-year-old adolescents. Method : Participants were 2,196 adolescents who live in Seosan with an average age of 12.2. Data was collected using a self administrated questionnaire from April 10 through June 10, 2011. Results : The knowledge of periodontal disease of the subjects was $2.46{\pm}1.52$ and the attitude was $1.88{\pm}1.11$. It appears that knowledge and attitude concerning periodontal and dental health among young Korean 12-year-old adolescents living in Seosan city are in need of improvement. The knowledge and attitude were significantly higher in high group than low group of income. The knowledge and attitude toward periodontal and dental health was positively related to dental health behaviors. Conclusion : Based on the findings, dental health behaviors are strongly associated with knowledge and attitude toward periodontal and dental health. This result suggest that the implementation of oral health promotion should be considered for various factors related to attitude of oral health in adolescents.
Osteoporosis is a major health problem confronting middle-aged women today. Enhancing calcium intake in early adulthood can increase the rate of calcium gain in bone. In this study, we investigated the association of bone health-related nutritional knowledge levels with calcium-related dietary behavior and nutrition education among women. Data were collected using questionnaires from 347 women aged 20~30 residing in Gyeonggi-do. Subjects were categorized into two groups according to their bone health-related nutritional knowledge (high or low-knowledge group). Knowledge related to bone health and calcium, and dietary habits was assessed, and the preference for and intake frequency of calcium-rich food were collected and analyzed using food frequency questionnaires. The high-knowledge group showed a significantly higher rate of nutritional education experience (33.9%) when compared with the low-knowledge group (18.9%). Not only were the perceptions regarding milk and dairy products more positive in the high-knowledge group (P<0.05), but the intake frequency of calcium-rich foods, such as tofu, soybean, and anchovies, was also higher in this group compared to the low-knowledge group (P<0.05). Overall, the preference for all calcium-rich foods was positively correlated to their intake frequency (P<0.05). Nutrition education experience and the recognition of the need for such education were positively correlated with the bone health-related nutrition knowledge score (P<0.05). In conclusion, bone health-related nutritional knowledge can affect calcium-related dietary behavior and increase the intake of calcium-rich food of 20~30-year-old women and this can contribute to the prevention of osteoporosis. To improve bone health-related nutritional knowledge among young women, it may be important to provide nutrition education.

Purpose: This study was done to investigate the probability of stroke, knowledge of stroke, and health-promoting lifestyle among stroke risk groups. Method: A descriptive correlational design was used. Data for 110 patients were analyzed. The probability of stroke was calculated using the Stroke Risk Profile from the Framingham Heart Study (2013), knowledge of stroke was measured using a questionnaire developed by Yoon et al. (2001), and health-promoting lifestyle was measured using the HPLP-II, developed by Walker et al. (1995). Results: The average probability of stroke was 11.74, knowledge of stroke, 67.88, and health-promoting lifestyle, 2.27. Probability of stroke showed significant differences according to gender. Knowledge differed according to patients' salaries. Health-promoting lifestyle showed significant differences according to gender. There were no significant correlations between probability of stroke and knowledge of stroke or probability of stroke and health-promoting lifestyle, but there was a significant correlation between knowledge of stroke and health-promoting lifestyle. Conclusion: Results indicate the necessity of active education to increase knowledge related to stroke which will contribute to an increase in health-promoting behaviors and make primary prevention a reality in the reduction of risk of stroke among stroke risk groups.

This study examines the relationship between recuperation nurses' oral health knowledge and perceptions and senile denture management behavior. For this study, 198 recuperation nurses who work in recuperation facilities for elderly patients in Andong City, Gyeongsangbuk-do, are surveyed. The data are investigated statistically using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation analyses, and logistics regression analyses. The analyses results demonstrate that the rate of correct answers for oral health knowledge of recuperation nurses is 76.5%. The relationship between oral health perceptions and oral health knowledge is 0.324, which is slightly high correlation(p<0.01). In addition, the potential of senile denture management behavior is more likely among nurses who have high levels of oral health knowledge and perceptions. Therefore, it is necessary to explore measures that can promote denture management and oral health for the elderly who enter recuperation facilities through helping raise the level of recuperation nurses' oral health knowledge and perceptions.
Objectives: The purposes of this study were to comprehend the subjective dental health status and the level of dental health knowledge in some middle school students and to analyze the correlation with dental health behaviors. Methods: A survey was conducted in some middle school students and the final 637 survey data were analysed. As the statistical analysis methods, the subjective dental health status, dental health knowledge and dental health behaviors according to the general characteristics were analyzed by independent t-test, one way ANOVA and Scheffe. The correlations among the subjective dental health status, dental health knowledge and dental health behavior were found by Pearson's correlation and multiple regression analysis. Results: Through correlation analysis of the subjective dental health status, dental health knowledge and dental health behavior, all showed a significant correlation. As a result of the factor analysis affecting dental behaviors, subjective dental health status was the highest (${\beta}=0.304$, p<0.001). Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that the improvement of subjective dental health status and dental health knowledge related to dental behaviors health in the middle school students should be considered. In addition, dental health education should focus on improving subjective dental health status through motivation rather than knowledge transfer training. Moreover, development programs appropriate for the middle school students whose behavioral changes are hard to obtain are needed.
