Influence of Entrance Examinees' Eating Behavior on their Health Condition. (대입수험생의 식사행동이 그들의 건강상태에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out the influence of Entrance Examinees' Eating Behavior on their health condition. The examinees for Chungbuk National university in 1992 were asked to fill out the questionnaire(The total number was 1054 ; 537 males, 517 females). The statistics used for data analysis were frequency, percentage, Crosstabs, Chi-square, t-test, one-way Anova, and Multiple Regression using SPSS/PC+ Program. The results are as follows. 1. Health condition due to an eating attitude: 1) As to health condition due to the food intake freguency, those who intaked fish or meat 3-5 days a week had the best heal th condition, but those who hardly intaked fish and meat or intaked them almost everyday had rather poor health condition. Those who intaked fried foods 1-2 days a week had the best health condition. The higher the freguency intaking such food or instant food was, the worse health condition was. 2) In view of health condition according to an eating attitude, it led to very good health condition to have breakfast & supper, to eat regularly, to select the nutritious foods, and to have a balanced diet. Overeating before sleeping and no meal or overeating before exam made their health very bad. Alcohol drinking & cigarrette smoking as favorite foods appeared significantly high in the boys. The more frequently they drinked alcohol and smoked cigarrette the worse their health condition was. Those who enjoyed milk, soya milk, and korean tea as favorite beverages had the better health condition than those who enjoyed coffee and soft drinks. 2. Influence of Eating Behavior on Health Condition. 1) The food intake freguency and the eating attitude influenced each other. The higher the score of food intake frequency was, the better the eating attitude appeared. 2) As a result of this study for eating behavior influencing on their health condition, the eating attitude influenced health condition, and the higher the eating attitude score was, the better heal th condition could be.

Correlation analysis of factors and the geriatric oral health-related quality of life in Gumi (구미 일부지역 노인의 구강건강관련 삶의 질 수준과 요인간 상관관계 분석)

  • Objectives : The objective of this paper is to clarify the factors of the geriatric oral health influencing oral health-related quality of life by using the contracted OHIP-14 tool. Methods : This research conducted individual interview for 177 seniors using senior citizen center by using structured questionnaires. SAS(Ver.9.2) Program was used for the collected data to perform frequency analysis, reliability and scale analysis, t-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. Results : The oral health-related quality of life level related to oral health according to the demographical characteristics showed that it was better in case that they are younger, married, more educated and have more living expenses. Except for age, oral health-related quality of life was connected to scholastic achievement, living expenses, subjective health condition and subjective oral health condition. The factors influencing the oral health condition were subjective health condition, marriage, scholastic achievement, living expenses, age and sex. As the subjective health condition is better, in case of cohabitation of only a couple and as the age or scholastic achievement is higher and the living expenses are more, the oral health condition was better. The factors influencing oral health-related quality of life were subjective oral health condition, marriage, sex, subjective health condition, scholastic achievement and living expenses. As the subjective oral health condition and health condition were better and in case of sole living and cohabitation of only a couple, male's oral health-related quality of life was higher. Conclusions : It is considered that because the geriatric oral health condition becomes an important factor to oral health-related quality of life, the development of the geriatric oral health business and the geriatric heal education program to maintain and improve oral health is required and the activation of the oral health insurance policy for preventive dental service is necessary.

The Relationship between Health Condition, Health Concept and Health Promoting Behavior in College Women (여대생의 건강상태, 건강개념과 건강증진행위간의 관계)

  • This study was done in order to analyze the relationship between Health condition, Health concept and Health promoting behavior in College Women. The subjects were 275 students from a college in Kyungbuk. The instruments used for this study were made of General characteristics (8 items), Health condition (3 item), Health concept (20 items) and Health promoting behaviors (40 items). The data were analyzed by SPSS/PC+ program using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient and Multiple Stepwise Regression. The results of this study were as follows. 1. The mean score of the Health promoting behavior was 2.3604. Among the subcategories, the highest degree of performance was interpersonal support (2.9133). 2. Health condition, Heath concept and Health promoting behavior according to general characteristics were as follows. 1)Perceived health condition had statistically significant differences according to board & lodging and living together (p=.040, p=.027). 2)Health concept had a statistically significant differences according to religion (p=.006). 3)Health promoting behavior had statistically significant differences according to age(p=.005). 4)Among the subcategory of Health promoting behavior, statistically significant differences were founded between nutrition and age / board & lodging (p=.004, p=.040), between self actualization and age(p=.006), between health responsibility and age/social economic status(p=.013, p=.000). 5. Correlations of Health condition, Health concept and Health promoting behavior were as follows. 1) BMI was positively correlated with perceived health status(r=.145, p=.015). 2)Health concept was positively correlated with BMI(r=.136, p=.032), perceived health condition(r=.148, p=.015), health promoting behavior (r=.316, p=.000). 6. Correlations of Health condition, Health concept and subcategories of Health promoting behavior were as follows. 1) Perceived health status was positively correlated nutrition (r=.168, p=.006). 2) Health concept was positively correlated with nutrition, stress management, self actualization and interpersonal relationship (r=.153 p=.011, r=.217 p=.000, r=.354 p=.000, r=.193 p=.001). 7. Health concept explained 10.1% of the variance for Health promoting behaviors.

Analysis of Relationship Between Dental Health Condition and Eating Habit (치아건강상태와 식습관과의 상관관계 분석)

  • The survey on dental health condition and eating habit of local residents in Daegu and Kyungbuk had been conducted. Through the analysis of influence of dental health condition on eating habit I could get the following result. The number of subjects of survey is 630. The period of survey is from June 2006 to September 2006. 1. General quality of subjects is that forty-four point four percent of subjects are male and fiftyfive pointsix percent are female. The age of thirty point one percent of subjects is between 20 and 29. Fifty-six point two percent of subjects are married. Fifty-one point four percent of subjects have above bachelor degree. Monthly income of forty-four point eight percent of subjects is less than one million won. Twenty-four point four percent of subjects are students. Fifty-five point seven percent of subjects are living in big cities. 2. Forty-seven point seven percent of male and fifty-one point eight percent of female answered their subjective dental health condition is bad. Marital status, age and academic background have relationship with answer. Forty-three point nine percent of married subjects and forty-one point five percent of divorced or bereaved subjects said they have bad dental health condition. The older he is or the lower academic background he has subjects think they have bad dental health condition. Forty-seven point four percent of non-educated subjects answered their dental health condition is bad. Forty-six percent of self-employed subjects and subjects who live in the country have tendency to think their dental health condition is bad. 3. About eating habit knowledge, male's knowledge of 2.03$\pm$0.20 is lower than female's of 2.08$\pm$0.21. This shows there is statistically significant difference(p<0.01). 4. There is significant relationship between subjective dental health condition and health condition of subjective. This means subject who has better health condition has also better dental health condition(37.5%). About subjective dental health condition, subject who eats restoratives has worse dental health condition. This shows there is a relationship between dental health condition and eating restoratives(p=0.004) and subject who works out steadily has better dental condition. 5. About relation between dental health condition and eating habit, subject who eats vegetables has worse dental health condition by fifty point seven percent. As cross tabulation result, p-value is 0.002. In level of significance of 0.05, there is statistically significant difference in eating habit. 6. It seems that eating habit has an effect on marital status, age, academic background, income and also on dental prosthetic treatment situation. Many subjects think their dental health condition is bad. About eating habit, subjects who eat meat have better dental health condition. Subjects who drink green tea and fruit juice has better dental health condition than who drink coffee and Balanced diet is good for dental health condition. As eating habit is important for developing dental health, government should make a proper program. Dental health education program especially for elderly, low-eduacted, residents in the country and poor people should be developed. Government, dental health organization, dental health specialist, associated research institution and people work in the press should be concerned and devote to improve quality of life. Primary prevention education will help for dental health.

A Study on the relation of health concern, health behavior, and subjective health status between the aged and the preliminary aged group (예비노인 집단과 노인집단의 건강관심도 및 건강행위, 주관적인 건강상태와의 관련성 연구)

  • The purpose of this research was to provide basic data to the welfare policy for the aged by studying the relation of health concern, health behavior, and subjective health condition between the aged and the preliminary aged group. Subjects were composed of a total of 259 (116 males, 143 females) living in seoul, aged 50-64(preliminary old people) and over 65(old people), and they were asked to answer the survey Questionnaires The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, chi-square test, and spearman's correlation coefficient. As a result of the study, the preliminary aged group was significant than the aged group in all three variables. In the relation of health concern and health behavior, there was significance both for the preliminary aged(p〈0.01) and the aged group(p〈0.001). Also, there was significance in the relation of health behavior and subjective health condition of two groups(p〈0.001). However, in the relation of subjective health condition and health concern, there was significance only for the aged group(p〈0.001). For the correlation among three variables, there was significance in the relation between health concern and health behavior and between health behavior and subjective health condition of the preliminary aged group(p〈0.01), but there was significance in the relation between health concern and health behavior and between health behavior and subjective health condition of the aged group(p〈0.01).

  • The purposes of this research were to understand the realities of health management and to analyze the subjective, functional, psychological, and social health effects of the application of an exercise and education program to manage health on an elderly population residing in an agricultural community. The specific purposes of this research were: 1. to determine the subjective, functional, psychological health conditions, and performance level of instrumental activities of daily living of both the experimental and control groups before introducing a health management program, and then 2. to compare these with both the experimental and control groups' subjective, functional, psychological health condition and performance level of instrumental activities of daily living after applying the health management program. The health management program was introduced to the experimental group (50 people) but not to the control group (50 people). The health management program was composed of a health exercise program and a health education program. A comparative study of subjective health conditions was done to examine the effect of the health management program and the characteristics of health related variables before and after the program application. Objectives: The aim of this study was to survey the tendency of perspiration and health condition of Sasang Constitution and to analysis the relationship between health condition and perspiration. 2. Methods: We recruited 1565 subjects in multi-oriental hospitals and researched their perspiration and health condition. Subjects were diagnosed by the Sasang Constitutional specialists in oriental hospitals, and had remarkable improvement in their chief complains after Sasang Constitutional Medication. All subjects answered the questionnaire about the tendency of perspiration including the amount and region of sweating, and the health condition such as meal, appetite, tiredness, health degree, and warm-cold preference. Based on these clinical data, we analyzed the Sasang Constitutional deviation of health condition according to the tendency of perspiration. We found the differences of answering using Chi-square test between-group comparison. We analyzed using SPSS 14.0 for Korean. 3. Results: The amount of sweating was related with degree of health condition such as tiredness, health degree, meal, appetite, and warm-cold preference. However there was no significant differences between Sasang Constitutional groups. 4. Conclusions: According the region of sweating, there was some deviation of health conditions between Sasang Constitution. Especially sweating of head and neck meant good symptom for SE type but not for SY type. And the sweating on the chest and axilla meant bad symptoms for all Sasang Constitutional types.

Foot Health Condition and Related Characteristics of Nurses (일 대학병원 간호사의 발 건강 상태)

  • Purpose: This descriptive study aimed to identify the foot health condition and related characteristics of nurses. Methods: A literature-based questionnaire was developed and distributed to 472 nurses in a university hospital in B city, and data were collected from August 1 to August 15, 2020. The Foot Health Status Questionnaire (FHSQ) was used to measure foot health condition. Results: The most common foot diseases among the participants were plantar fasciitis (7.8%) and hallux valgus (7.0%). To relieve foot pain, most nurses used relaxation techniques, stretching, elevating the legs, and foot massage. The level of foot health condition among nurses was lower than that of older persons or the general public with chronic foot disease. The foot health condition of the nurses showed that the lower the age and the greater the number of foot diseases, the more severe the pain and dysfunction. Conclusion: The study shows that there is a need for interventions that will raise nurses' awareness about foot health and induce better foot health management.

  • To obtain basic data for efficient health plan, we investigated the condition of farmers' health, living behavior, working environment, and cumulative fatigue symptoms by crops (greenhouse melon, rice and red pepper, stock farming, pear, grapes, dropwort, sweet potato, potato, radish. cabbage). The results are as follows; (1) The condition of farmers health : Among them, cabbage cultivators were in bad health concerning cardiovascular system, musculo-skeletal system, and skin condition. (2) Living behavior : $\circled1$ Radish cultivators were in best of their physical condition. $\circled2$ Rice and red pepper cultivators were taking a regular recess as compared with dropwort cultivators. $\circled3$ On concerning bathe, sleeping, and clothes, stock farmers were in relatively bad condition. (3) Working environment : cabbage, greenhouse melon, and dropwort cultivators had relatively Poor working environment. (4) Cumulative fatigue symptoms : $\circled1$ Dropwort cultivators were in the worst of their condition concerning loss of their energy, physical condition. decline of will to labor, sense of unease, and low spirits. $\circled2$ On concerning general fatigue, dropwort, sweet potato, and cabbage cultivator were in bad condition.

The Effect of Physically Challenged Women's Health Condition On Quality of Life (여성지체장애인의 건강상태가 삶의 질에 미치는 영향)

  • A human being's pursuit is that of a better quality of life and the disabled naturally want to do so. But challenged people's lives have not improved apace with the general development of our society as a whole. Specially, in a patriarchal society like Korea, challenged women are in a less favorable situation. Challenged women can enjoy more healthy and more happy life in a given condition. Thus, in this research, we closely examined the women's general characteristics, disabled characteristics, health condition(subjective health condition, experiences of diseases, stress value, etc), satisfaction value of life who have handicaps of limb or/and body. On the 17th of September through the 14th of October '98, a nation-wide retardation compaign was held and 200 people were served by telephone. Then we analysed primary factors on quality of life. As results, monthly income, how they think of their economic level, their subjective health condition, and the stress level that the success depends on self influenced quality of life.
